SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Stewards today concluded an inquiry from race 8 at the QTC meeting on 29.1.05 into the reason for S. Galloway (HISSY FIT) returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram overweight. In accordance with AR145, S. Galloway was fined the sum of $100.

Race 1: Aragen F&M 3yo & up Maiden H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Cimarosa 2nd - Don't Tell Clang 3rd - Melody Bay 4th - Chelseann
As S. Katsidis was to be overweight, C. Spry was substituted as the rider of ORANGE MARMALADE. S. Katsidis was fined $100.
CIMAROSA jumped away awkwardly.
AKORDAT, which was a little slow to jump, was hampered shortly after the start by AVALLAR, which was taken in by ORANGE MARMALADE.
Approaching the 1000m., SHAMROCK MIST, which was inclined to lay out when placed in restricted room inside CHELSEANN, had to be checked and struck the running rail when shifting in and away from PICKASTAR.
Approaching the 800m., SHAMROCK MIST again had to be checked when racing in restricted room to the inside of AKORDAT, which shifted in when racing ungenerously.
FOR CERTAIN attempted to buck leaving the 1000m. and the horse continued to race ungenerously for some distance. The connections were advised that the horse would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again.
CIMAROSA jumped the crossing near the 600m..
DON'T TELL CLANG was obliged to race wide throughout.
A veterinary examination of ORANGE MARMALADE, which compounded, revealed no abnormalities.
Race 2: Mr Shannon E&G 3yo & up Maiden H'cap - 1200m. .
1st - Let's Devower 2nd - Pic 'N' Mix 3rd - Zulu Star 4th - Just A Freak
ZULU STAR was hampered at the start between LET'S DEVOWER and KING OF STING, which jumped away awkwardly and shifted in.
JUST A FREAK jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with TURF RAIDER.
RED SHADOW was slow to begin.
FIRE AND FORGET jumped outwards at the start and made contact with KOSTALU.
I'M A NUISANCE was caught wide on the first turn and obliged to race wide throughout.
Near the 700m., KASHMIR SKY was galloped on by MIQUELT, which was racing ungenerously. A veterinary examination following the race revealed KASHMIR SKY to have sustained a laceration to the near hind fetlock
Near the 650m., MIQUELT hung out across the heels of I'M A NUISANCE and as a result RED SHADOW, which was trailing, was inconvenienced.
DEFEND THE HILL jumped the crossing near the 650m..
After leaving the crossing, LET'S DEVOWER shifted out away from the rails, taking KING OF STING wider.
Near the 500m., KOSTALU improved to the inside of the heels of KING OF STING where there was restricted room and had to be checked. KOSTALU then shifted out off the heels of KING OF STING, causing ZULU STAR to be checked. FIRE AND FORGET, KASHMIR SKY and I'M A NUISANCE were all forced wide in this incident. Whilst stewards did not apportion blame to any one particular rider, D. Green, rider of KOSTALU, was nevertheless advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
KASHMIR SKY hung out making the home turn, taking I'M A NUISANCE wider on the track. Trainer N. Somerset was advised that KASHMIR SKY would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
FIRE AND FORGET was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.
A veterinary examination of LET'S DEVOWER following the race revealed the horse to be suffering from heat stress.
Race 3: Mahogany 3yo Maiden H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Alfee Clanger 2nd - King Kade 3rd - Sir Mocha 4th - Tremors
ALFEE CLANGER and REGAL EVENT made contact at the start.
BOSS BEAR jumped inwards at the start and made contact with PRINCE PUZZLE.
After travelling a short distance, BOSS BEAR attempted to buck and shifted in abruptly, making heavy contact with PRINCE PUZZLE, forcing that colt in on to ALL UP DIAMONDS, which had to be checked. Near the 1200m., BOSS BEAR again raced ungenerously and shifted in, placing PRINCE PUZZLE in restricted room.
Approaching the 1000m., BOSS BEAR continued to race ungenerously, resulting in MONTECHORO being inconvenienced. BOSS BEAR then raced wide for the remainder of the race. A veterinary examination of BOSS BEAR failed to reveal any abnormality. The connections of BOSS BEAR were advised that the horse would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
Near the 300m., ALL UP DIAMONDS had to be steadied off the heels of PRINCE PUZZLE.
Near the 150m., TREMORS had to be checked after coming into contact with the tiring BOSS BEAR when racing on the inside of KING KADE, which initially shifted in under pressure and then became tightened by ALFEE CLANGER, which shifted ground. Both J. Byrne, rider of KING KADE, and Z. Purton, rider of ALFEE CLANGER, were reprimanded and advised to take greater measures to ensure their mounts remain straight in the run to the finish.
REGAL EVENT lost its near hind plate in running.
Race 4: The Guida Class 3 H'cap - 2200m.
1st - North County 2nd - Dapple Express 3rd - Makin Love 4th - Initial Star
DAPPLE EXPRESS jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with ABDUCTED. A short distance later, DAPPLE EXPRESS, ABDUCTED and AEROLITO were all tightened between JUMPIN JARED and MISS ISHI, which shifted in.
Race 5: Shame Class 3 H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Engineer 2nd - Secret Goldmine 3rd - Prang 4th - Runobit
On jumping away, NOBLE GAZE, MISS TELLAC and RUNOBIT were all placed in restricted room between SECRET GOLDMINE and TINYBOW, both of which shifted ground.
Shortly after the start, BRANGAINE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BRIEF ENCOUNTER, which shifted in.
NOBLE GAZE, RAPID REASON and TINYBOW were all forced to race wide throughout.
After passing the 400m., KING COLES shifted away from PRANG, which had shifted out to improve. RAPID REASON, which was following, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KING COLES.
A. Pattillo, rider of the 3rd placegetter, PRANG, was found guilty of a charge under AR137(b) in that he failed to ride his mount right out to the finish line. A. Pattillo was fined the sum of $600.
Race 6: Star Of The Knight Class 3 H'cap - 1600m.
1st - Viking Groom 2nd - Water Buffalo 3rd - Northern Force 4th - Jackson Hill
STAR STRIKE overraced in the early stages and approaching the 150m. had to be steadied off the heels of DANCE KID.
G. Colless, rider of SCREAMNG HALO, placed 5th by the Judge, was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the finish of the race.
Race 7: Zamoff Welter H'cap - 1600m.
1st - Celtic Trial 2nd - Planagram 3rd - Fires of Ireland 4th - Alfonso
FIRES OF IRELAND overraced in the early stages.
STAGE KING was forced to race wide throughout.
B. Hull, rider of PLANAGRAM, dropped his whip near the 100m..
Race 8: Chortle Class 4 H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Perette 2nd - Matey 3rd - Simply Viv 4th - Surescay
Trainer T. Hewitt was fined $50 for failing to produce the Document of Description for COR CORZ.
FILL THE BILL and LUCKY TOWN were slow to begin.
Leaving the 1000m., SURESCAY was tightened for room near the 1000m. when racing on the inside of COR CORZ. SIMPLY VIV and LUCKY TOWN, which were racing on the inside, were obliged to race in restricted room in this incident.
COR CORZ and SURESCAY both raced wide throughout the race.
MATEY shifted ground under pressure over the concluding stages and near the finish line brushed the hind quarters of PERETTE.
MATEY raced greenly in the straight.
