Race 1: BRISBANE SELF STORAGE QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1200M
1st – Bold Sequalo 2nd – Welcome Site 3rd – Silver Dane 4th – Fear Of Flying

As B. Stewart experienced transport difficulties en route to the course, J. Powell was substituted as the rider of PRINCE LIONHEART.

FALLGUY (M. Pelling) jumped in the air at the start.

PRINCE LIONHEART (J. Powell) was tightened for room on jumping away between TWO FINGERS (M. Rice) and SILVER DANE (G. Colless) which jumped away awkwardly and shifted out.

WELCOME SITE (R. Goltz) was cramped for room a short distance after the start between CELESTALANE (C. Spry) and RETRENCHED (P. Hammersley) when both horses shifted ground slightly.

MARDI MAGRAR (J. Taylor) made the turn near the 1000m awkwardly, resulting in SILVER DANE having to be steadied to avoid that horse's heels.

WELCOME SITE (R. Goltz) commenced to overrace after passing the 1000m, got its head up and raced ungenerously when being restrained off the heels of FEAR OF FLYING (S. Katsidis).

FEAR OF FLYING commenced to hang out rounding the first turn and continued to hang out throughout running.

PRINCE LIONHEART commenced to hang out after making the 800m and ran wide making the crossing inside the 600m. A warning was issued.

ADMIRALTY'S GIRL (S. Galloway) shifted out to improve after leaving the 300m and made contact with MARDI MAGRAR.

The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that WATTS DOING (N. Jolly) sustained a laceration to the outside of the off hind pastern.

Race 2: QRSE TRANSASIA PACIFIC PROJECTS F & M CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1200M
1st – Grand Memories 2nd – Prophet Jewel 3rd – Canadian Shuffle 4th – She's Decent

SHE'S DECENT, which slipped in the saddling enclosure, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to race.

An inquiry was opened into the seemingly disappointing performance of A LITTLE DABL DOYA (T. Pannell) and also the riding tactics insofar as the horse racing back in the field as opposed to its normal racing pattern in Sydney where it has raced on the pace. Trainer's representative Mr B. Guy stated that it had been intended to ride the horse in a forward position today, however after missing the start the horse appeared somewhat reluctant to hold its position. Apprentice T. Pannell confirmed that he had been instructed to ride the horse close to the lead, however the horse missed the start and was then reluctant to hold its position inside of runners approaching the first turn and this resulted in the horse getting back towards the rear of the field. He added that the horse was inclined to lay in in the straight when placed under pressure. Mr Guy also indicated that the horse had worked reasonably well after being floated from Sydney last Monday, however he felt that the float trip may have had some effect on the mare, along with the recent warm weather to which she may not have acclimatised. The explanation was noted.

Leaving the 800m YODELLLING DIXIE (J. Byrne) had to be eased to avoid the heels of LOVE IN THE MIST (M. Pelling) which shifted in. SPARKLE EXPRESS (G. Palmer), which was trailing, had to be eased off the heels of YODELLING DIXIE at that stage, and PROPHET JEWEL (J. Powell), which was trailing SPARKLE EXPRESS, was inconvenienced.

GRAND MEMORIES (K. Pope) and EXQUISITELY (N. Jolly) raced wide throughout.

SPARKLE EXPRESS was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

GRAND MEMORIES was inclined to shift ground over the concluding stages.

A veterinary examination of EXQUISITELY, which finished some distance from the bulk of the field, revealed no abnormalities.

Race 3: SIR JAMES H'CAP CLASS 6 H'CAP – 2112M
1st – Crimson Gown 2nd – Simply Viv 3rd – Super Imprint 4th – King Latarmiss

MAIZCAY MISS was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and cleared to race.

SHOW MARTIAL (B. Hull) jumped away awkwardly.

MAIZCAY MISS (J. Byrne) was under pressure and hard ridden leaving the 1000m. A veterinary examination subsequent to the event revealed the horse to be sore in the nearside foreleg.

SHOW MARTIAL was inclined to pull hard in the middle stages.

SHOW MARTIAL hung out when under pressure rounding the home turn and continued to shift out passing the 400m, taking DOODLE DADDLE (J. Stanley) and TSINGTAO (G. Colless) wider. A veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was issued to the connections of SHOW MARTIAL in relation to its racing manners approaching and rounding the home turn and for hanging out.

When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance of CRIMSON GOWN in winning today, syndicate manager Mr J. Arnott, representing the connections, stated that the horse had been disappointing this preparation and at its previous start at Doomben the horse appeared somewhat reluctant to race and as a result consideration had been given to reviewing the horse's racing program. He added that following that run, trainer Mr Norman had removed the blinkers and pacifiers and with the pattern of today's race and the step-up in distance he felt that those factors had suited the horse. The explanation was noted.

Race 4: QRSE GILSHENAN & LUTON C, G & E CLASS 6 PLATE – 1200M
1st – Tornado Alley 2nd – Amaizing Style 3rd – Minassi 4th – Gloucester Road

MICKELSON (A. Pattillo) and EMPOWERED raced wide throughout.

Near the 300m GLOUCESTER ROAD (G. Palmer) shifted out to improve and made heavy contact with KOALA.

S. Katsidis, the rider of MINASSI, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 200m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of MICKELSON, resulting in MICKELSON being taken out on to KOALA, causing that horse to be checked and blunder. S. Katsidis's licence to ride was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence immediately and expire at midnight on Friday, 11 March 2005.

GENERAL SAM (M. Rice) was caught four wide rounding the first turn and the horse was obliged to race wide four wide for the remainder of the event.
