SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS
M. Cahill was fined $100 for returning to scale overweight on Planagram in race 10 at the Ipswich meeting on 1 June 2005.
As S. King was ill, riding changes were made as per the stewards summary sheet.
Race 1: Theodore Club Inc H'cap - 1300m.
1st - Admiral Spy 2nd - Buran 3rd - Florilegium 4th - Step Right In
FLORILEGIUM (D. Nikolic) and DUKE SAM (B. El-Issa) jumped awkwardly.
ADMIRAL SPY (M. Rice) also jumped awkwardly and missed the start.
STEP RIGHT IN (D. Beasley) was caught wide rounding the first turn and was obliged to race wide throughout.
DUKE SAM (B. El-Issa) shifted out to improve rounding the home turn and brushed A LITTLE NAUGHTY (L. Cassidy), which had a tendency to lay out.
After leaving the 200m., ADMIRAL SPY shifted out to improve and brushed the hind quarters of DUKE SAM.
Race 2: QRSE Sir Edward Williams H'cap - 1500m.
1st - Enthusiast 2nd - Doonan 3rd - Star Of St. Covet 4th - Prosecution
ELENDIL (L. Cassidy) was caught wide after the start and was obliged to race 3 wide throughout.
When the pace slowed leaving the 1200m., ANNE CARINA (D. Ballard) had to be steadied off the heels of ON A HIGH (S. Galloway).
ENTHUSIAST (B. El-Issa) pulled hard between the 1200m. and 1000m. after being steadied off the heels of STAR OF ST. COVET (G. McKeon) when the paced slowed.
PROSECUTION (C. Spry) also pulled hard after leaving the 1200m. and on several occasions had to be checked off the heels of ENTHUSIAST due to the pace slowing.
DOONAN (B. Shinn) shifted out to improve at the 400m. and brushed FACE VALUE (M. Cahill).
Leaving the 400m., ON A HIGH (S. Galloway) was inclined to lay in on to the heels of FACE VALUE and had to be steadied.
Approaching the 200m., ENTHUSIAST shifted out to improve and brushed BLOOD 'N' BONE (A. Pattillo).
When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance of ENTHUSIAST in winning today, trainer J. Wallace advised stewards that the horse seemed to be better suited by the step up in distance today and the pattern of the race suited the horse. He added that the horse also dropped in class today.
Race 3: QRSE Solomon Foodservice Dane Ripper F & M - 1300m.
1st - Our Sweet Moss 2nd - Mardi Gras 3rd - Wasimah 4th - Sharp Aunty
Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer T. Wildman for the late declaration of C. Munce as the rider of CHARMVIEW.
MARDI GRAS, which was kicked behind the barriers, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed to start.
AU CHOCOLAT (A. Pattillo) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, brushing SHARP AUNTY (B. Shinn).
LIL ELSA (J. Penza) jumped awkwardly.
Near the 1100m., LIL ELSA shifted in and had to be checked off the heels of TUI SONG (D. Beasley).
When being restrained off the heels of AU CHOCOLAT, DANE SHAKIRA (D. Ballard) was inclined to race ungenerously and shifted out near the 1000m., taking LIL ELSA wider on the track.
Near the 800m., DANE SHAKIRA had to be steadied off the heels of TUI SONG (D. Beasley), which shifted in and brushed SECRET GIFT (B. El-Issa). DANE SHAKIRA continued to race ungenerously for some distance.
Passing the 1000m., SHARP AUNTY (B. Shinn) got its head up and was inclined to race ungenerously when the pace slowed.
PENTELIKON (D. Beadman) and LIL ELSA (J. Penza) were caught wide rounding the first turn and obliged to race wide.
Near the 400m., TUI SONG attempted to shift out from behind the heels of PENTELIKON and made contact with LIL ELSA.
TUI SONG was held up for clear running in the straight until approaching the 200m..
When attempting to take a run between SECRET GIFT and PENTELIKON near the 250m., AU CHOCOLAT (A. Pattillo) had to be steadied when disappointed for that run when PENTELIKON shifted in under pressure.
CHARMVIEW (C. Munce) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight and never had clear running until after passing the 200m..
DANE SHAKIRA had to be steadied to avoid the heels of TUI SONG, which was attempting to obtain clear running near the 250m..
Race 4: Sciaccas Lawyers & Consultants Grand Prix Group 2 3YO Stakes QTIS - 2100m.
1st - Spuruson 2nd - Taisho 3rd - Atapi 4th - Lachlan River
Due to a clerical error at the Trainer's Service Centre, D. Nikolic was notified late as the rider of LACHLAN RIVER.
As S. King was ill, an application was made by the connections of SPURUSON for L. Cassidy to ride the horse half a kilogram over its allotted weight of 53 kilograms. After hearing submissions from Trainer R. Ollerton and owners' representative A. Price, stewards declined the application and ordered a substitute rider be found to ride the horse at the declared weight. A. Pattillo was subsequently declared as the rider of SPURUSON.
MAHIMAN (S. Galloway) was slow to begin.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, ATAPI (G. Childs) was tightened for room between SPECIAL TIMES, which commenced to overrace, and ROYAL NINJA (Z. Purton), which was inclined to lay in away from CINCINNATI GAL (B. El-Issa).SPECIAL TIMES continued to overrace and the horse was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon following the race, who reported that the mare was lame in the off hind leg. When questioned as to the horse racing in the lead today, trainer G. Rogerson indicated that he had instructed D. Beasley to ride the horse midfield if possible. D. Beasley stated however that the horse overraced near the winning post on the first occasion and he had difficulty restraining the horse, which resulted in it leading and eventually compounding. As the horse was found to be lame in the off hind leg, trainer G. Rogerson undertook to provide a veterinary clearance for SPECIAL TIMES before the colt races again.
Near the 1100m., STORMHILL (H. Bowman) shifted out slightly away from the rails and brushed SPIRIT OF TARA (B. Shinn). ROYAL NINJA (Z. Purton), which was following, had to be steadied at that point.
Near the 300m., ROYAL NINJA shifted in and made contact with SPIRIT OF TARA, which was inclined to shift out slightly.
LACHLAN RIVER (D. Nikolic) was obliged to race wide throughout.
Race 5: Borrelli Hand Made Clothing Sires' Produce Group 1 2YO Stakes QTIS - 1400m.
1st - Virage De Fortune 2nd - Upilio 3rd - Testafiable 4th - Darci Brahma
A protest lodged by M. Cahill, rider of the 5th placegetter, FOOLISH, against TESTAFIABLE being declared 3rd, alleging interference near the 1000m. was dismissed. In dismissing the protest, stewards found that whilst FOOLISH had received interference at the 1000m., they were not satisfied that the ground lost in the incident, bearing in the mind the margin separating the horses, warranted a reversal of placings. At a subsequent inquiry, L. Nolen was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1000m., he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of FOOLISH, resulting in FOOLISH being severely tightened for room and then becoming unbalanced and forced in on to BULLMORE (S. Hyland), which also became unbalanced. L. Nolen was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 10 meetings, to commence at midnight, 8 June 2005 and to expire at midnight, 25 June 2005. L. Nolen was also fined $2000. THIN AND CRISPTY, which was following, also had to be steadied in this incident.
THIN AND CRISPTY (L. Cassidy) was hampered on jumping away by FOOLISH (M. Cahill), which shifted in.
DIAMONDSONDINSIDE (Z. Purton) jumped inwards at the start, resulting in ARISTOCRACY (S. Galloway) being forced in on to NABIRAZ (B. El-Issa).
NABIRAZ and DIAMONDSONDINSIDE were placed in restricted room near the 1300m. by TESTAFIABLE (L. Nolen), which shifted in.
Near the 1200m., when being steadied, FOOLISH shifted in and made contact with the hind quarters of BULLMORE (S. Hyland).
When being restrained rounding the first turn, DIAMONDSONDINSIDE got its head up, and leaving the 800m.. NABIRAZ shifted out and bumped the hind quarters of DIAMONDSONDINSIDE, which was obliged to race wide.
BOLD RED (K. Pope) commenced to hang out rounding the first turn and the horse continued to hang out throughout. The racing manners of BOLD RED will be drawn to the attention of trainer M. Mair.
ARISTOCRACY (S. Galloway) made the crossing awkwardly.
An inquiry into interference suffered by READY AS (H. Bowman) near the 200m. has been adjourned until 1 ½ hours prior to the starting time of the first race at Eagle Farm on Saturday, 11 June. READY AS suffered interference when racing between FOOLISH and UPILIO.
NABIRAZ made contact with DIAMONDSONDINSIDE rounding the home turn. An inquiry will be held at a time and date to be fixed.
NABIRAZ had to be checked near the 400m. when racing between UPILIO and DIAMONDSONDINSIDE. An inquiry into this incident will be held at a later date.
DIAMONDSONDINSIDE and KINCHARM were obliged to race throughout.
KATSIDIS was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon following the race and found to be suffering from severe stress. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to KATSIDIS racing again.
A swab sample was taken from UPILIO.
Race 6: Joe Richards Menswer Queensland Group 1 3YO Fillies - Oaks QTIS - 2400m.
1st - Vitesse Dane 2nd - Cinque Cento 3rd - Tick By 4th - Prize Lady
FIERY SUNSET (G. Childs) jumped awkwardly and shifted in abruptly, tightening MERCURY ISLAND (M. Coleman).
FELENIC (S. Seamer), which was a little slow to jump, was crowded shortly after the start between ZARIA (M. Cahill) and HVEGER (B. Shinn), which shifted in.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, TICK BY (D. Nikolic) shifted in and made contact with HVEGER (B. Shinn).
At the same stage, MERCURY ISLAND, which was overracing, had to be steadied off the heels of ZARIA (M. Cahill) and shifted out.
MERCURY ISLAND (M. Coleman) was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
On straightening, TICK BY (D. Nikolic) shifted out to improve and brushed FIERY SUNSET (G. Childs).
PONTE PICCOLO was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
PONTE PICCOLO broke down near the finish line and the club's veterinary surgeon advised that the filly had sustained an injury to the off fore flexor tendon.
FIERY SUNSET (G. Childs) was obliged to race 3 wide for the majority of the race.

Race 7: Borrelli At Joe Richards Q.T.C. Group 2 Quality Cup - 1299m.
1st - Sir Breakfast 2nd - Beautiful Gem 3rd - All Bar One 4th - Dezigna
As M. Cahill was to be overweight, B. El-Issa was substituted as the rider of DEZIGNA. M. Cahill was fined the sum of $300.
SKY CUDDLE (C. Munce) was slow to begin.
Near the 800m., LEGALLY BAY and LAMOND (B. El-Issa) were cramped for room when racing to the inside of PROUDLY AGRO (G. Palmer).
Rounding the first turn LAMOND (Z. Purton) shifted out, taking PROUDLY AGRO slightly wider on the track..
PROUDLY AGRO appeared to lay out when obliged to race wide on the track in the middle stages.
Race 8: Action International Group 2 Weight For Age P.J. O'Shea Stakes - 2400m.
1st - Natural Blitz 2nd - Zumanity 3rd - Regal Punch 4th - Platinum Scissors
L. Nolan was stood down by the club's doctor after race 5 and was replaced by B. El-Issa as the rider of ZUMANITY.
A veterinary examination of ZUMANITY and NATURAL BLITZ prior to the event passed the horses to race .
KNOW A LADY, which was kicked on the near hind at the barriers, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed to start.
FIERY VENTURE (L. Cassidy), RAW INSTINCT (G. Childs) and DOWRY (G. Colless) were tightened at the start between KNOW A LADY (A. Pattillo), which jumped outwards, and ZABEAT (N. Harris), which jumped inwards.
DOUBLE EL AITCH (G. Palmer) jumped awkwardly.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, COUNTY TYRONE (Z. Purton) was inclined to overrace and had to be steadied off the heels of NATURAL BLITZ (M. Cahill).
Just past the winning post, COUNTY TYRONE shifted out slightly, which resulted in RAW INSTINCT being cramped for room inside ZABEAT (N. Harris).
WALTER MITTY (M. Coleman) raced in restricted room passing the winning post on the first occasion inside of ZINGAM (H. Bowman), which also raced in restricted room inside PACIFIC DANCER (D. Nikolic).
ZABEAT and RAW INSTINCT were both obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.
COUNTY TYRONE pulled hard in the middle stages after leaving the 1000m. and had to be checked off the heels of NATURAL BLI
Near the 500m., WHO DEALT THIS (S. Galloway) attempted to move away from the heels of the tiring DEVASTATING (D. Beadman) and in doing so shifted out and made contact with FROM HEAVEN (K. Pope). As a result of this incident, WHO DEALT THIS then became unbalanced when making contact with FROM HEAVEN, and DANASRI (B. Shinn), which was following, clipped the heels of WHO DEALT THIS. DOWRY, which was following, had to shift out off the heels of DANASRI.
After leaving the 400m., COUNTY TYRONE attempted to take a run between REGAL PUNCH (C. Munce) and PLATINUM SCISSORS, and after being disappointed for that run where there was not fully sufficient room, the gelding had to be steadied when PLATINUM SCISSORS shifted ground slightly under pressure.
ZINGHAM (H. Bowman) had to be eased close to the finish line to avoid the heels of REGAL PUNCH.
DEVASTATING was eased out of the race near the 200m. Stewards ordered a veterinary examination of the horse however at the time of examination, the club's veterinary surgeon could detect no abnormalities. When questioned, D. Beadman stated that the horse had travelled well until the 1500m. and appeared to settle well however leaving the 1500m. he felt that the horse's breathing became abnormal and when the pace quickened after passing the 1000m. the horse felt awkward in its action. He added that he was of the opinion something was amiss with the horse and commenced to ease the horse out of the race fearing that something was amiss with the horse. Stewards ordered on the recommendation of the club's veterinary surgeon, Dr Manahan, that an ECG and endoscopic examination be performed on DEVASTATING, and trainer J. Collins was advised that to inform stewards of the results of any tests performed on DEVASTATING.
A veterinary examination of DEVASTATING following the event failed to reveal any abnormality.
