Race 1: Sky Channel – Tattersall’s Class 6 H’cap – 2106m
1st – Hello Possums 2nd – Makin Love 3rd – Sea Drive 4th – Sea Drive
As B. Stewart was to be overweight, R. Goltz was substituted as the rider of REGULUS. B. Stewart was fined the sum of $100.
MAKIN LOVE (S. Drake) jumped away awkwardly.
REGULUS (R. Goltz) was tightened between BACKSTAGE GIRL (K. Wharton) and FLYING CRUSADER (R. McMahon) when both horses shifted ground at the start.
SANDIKELLY (J. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly and made contact with SEA DRIVE (A. Pattillo).
RAJA PRINCE (C. Spry) was tightened shortly after the start between HELLO POSSUMS and JUJULIO (M. Cahill), which shifted in.
MAKIN LOVE was inclined to overrace after leaving the 1700m.
ALAANA’S SONG (R. Plumb) got its head up and raced ungenerously when the paced eased entering the back straight.
Near the 1600m, BACKSTAGE GIRL was inclined to race fiercely at the heels of SEA DRIVE (A. Pattillo).
Near the 200m, HELLO POSSUMS (J. Holder) shifted in to improve inside the heels of MILADY CLANG (M. Palmer) and in doing so made contact with REGULUS, forcing that horse in towards the rail.
R. McMahon, rider of FLYING CRUSADER, was cautioned for excessive use of his whip over the concluding stages when that horse was out of contention.
LAMBRETTA (M. Price) was caught wide in the early stages and raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 2: Hamilton Hotel QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1000m
1st – Moodee 2nd – Pagan County 3rd – Partygoer 4th –
Trainer B. Baldwin was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for ASCENDANT by the prescribed time.
BRIELLA (K. Wharton) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with the hind quarters of FALLEN (M. Palmer).
SHINKO GEM (A. Pattillo) also jumped awkwardly and shifted in, having to be checked off the hind quarters of GRANDE VARGUE (R. Goltz).
COUNTESS LEZAYRE (J. Taylor) was hampered on jumping away between PAGAN COUNTY (S. Drake), which jumped awkwardly, and PARTYGOER (M. Price), which shifted out.
BIGGER THAN (G. Colless) and OCTOBERFIVE (K. Pope) also began awkwardly.
After beginning awkwardly, ANCIENT TITLES (J. Holder) was then taken out by MOODEE (B. Stewart) on to the hind quarters of REMMLA.
GRANDE VARGUE (R. Goltz) raced greenly after leaving the 800m, and near the 450m shifted in abruptly, tightening CHATOSTAR (S. Katsidis).
SWEET ‘N’ INNOCENT (R. Plumb) made the crossing inside the 600m awkwardly.
PAGAN COUNTY (S. Drake) was obliged to race wide throughout.
Race 3: Carlton Draught QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1200m
1st – Vocalic 2nd – Moonlight Shadow 3rd – Racetrack 4th – Fair Game
VOCALIC (C. Spry) jumped away awkwardly and shortly after the start was hampered by WHAT A TALE (J. Taylor), which shifted out.
BILLY RIPPER (K. Pope) also jumped away awkwardly and missed the start.
KAINDARA GOLD (M. Palmer) got its head up and raced ungenerously after leaving the 800m.
KAINDARA GOLD had to be steadied when it improved on to the heels of SEQUALLAN (M. Price), which made the crossing inside the 600m awkwardly.
Near the 450m, SAMMYS ILLUSION (J. Holder) was cramped for room between WHAT A TALE (J. Taylor) and RACETRACK (T. Pannel), which shifted out to improve.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of SIR MONASHEE, R. Mason stated that after assuming the lead, the horse refused to settle after being pressured by SEQUALLAN and feltt the horse was inclined to race fiercely with the blinkers. Trainer D. Bell advised that whilst the horse did receive some pressure, he felt that SIR MONASHEE was not suited to racing in blinkers for the first time, and indicated he may remove them horse’s next start. A veterinary examination of SIR MONASHEE failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Stewards also questioned apprentice M. Price in relation to her riding tactics on SEQUALLAN, in particular in the early and middle stages, whereby she challenged SIR MONASHEE for the lead. M. Price stated that her instructions had been to lead if possible as the horse had trialled well recently, however with the horse racing in blinkers for the first time today, SEQUALLAN was inclined to overrace and failed to settle, and the horse did not finish the race off as anticipated. Trainer R. Maund confirmed the instructions to M. Price were to lead if possible as the horse had trialled well recently in blinkers however in hindsight apprentice Price may have persisted with her efforts to lead longer than expected. Stewards noted the explanations, however M. Price was advised she should show better judgment when assessing pace in future.
Race 4: Hardy Brothers Jewellers F&M Class 6 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Dana’s Kingdom 2nd – Moombi Nymph 3rd – Star Of Tiarne 4th – Milady Matty
Approaching the 1200m, the saddle on ALLEGRO SPIRITOSO (R. McMahon) shifted forward and this placed R. McMahon at a distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
Also near the 1200m, MOONBI NYMPH (A. Pattillo) was cramped for room by DANA’S KINGDOM (M. Cahill), which was taken in by ANNIE SUE (R. Plumb) when that horse shifted in and away from TAABINGA LASS (M. Palmer). R. Plumb, rider of ANNIE SUE, was advised to exercise more care.
Near the 1100m, DANA’S KINGDOM had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ANNIE SUE (R. Plumb), which was taken in by TAABINGA LASS (M. Palmer). M. Palmer, rider of TAABINGA LASS, was also cautioned and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
CANIONA (K. Wharton) brushed the rail on several occasions rounding the first turn when racing in restricted room
Approaching the 900m, MOONBI NYMPH (A. Pattillo) was hampered when racing in restricted room between LADY OF COURAGE (P. Wolfgram) and DANA’S KINGDOM (M. Cahill), which shifted in slightly.
VILLOSA (A. Best) was caught 3 wide after the start and raced 3 wide throughout the event.
Race 5: IPG Print QRSE H’cap – 1000m
1st – Panzer 2nd – Gullcatcher 3rd – Algorithm 4th – Any Suggestion
ANY SUGGESTION (M. Cahill) jumped outwards at the start and made contact with CLASSIC KARLA (J. Bowditch).
M. Cahill, rider of ANY SUGGESTION, attempted to take a narrow run to the inside of NOBLE GENT (R. Mason) , which shifted away from the rails near the 400m. However ANY SUGGESTION was unable to progress through when NOBLE GENT shifted back slightly towards the rails, and as a result, ANY SUGGESTION was then held up for clear running until near the 200m..
Race 6: Sky Channel – Tattersall’s Arcade CG&E Class 6 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Get Salty 2nd – October Grey 3rd – Lust For Victory 4th – Sectagonal
Near the 1200m, THEBAREFOOTBUSHMAN (R. Mason) was cramped for room by ALL IN ORDER (W. Wheatley), which shifted in and away from MIGHTY ICON (K. Wharton).
Approaching the 1000m, OCTOBER GREY (M. Cahill) had to be steadied off the heels of REAR ADMIRAL (J. Bowditch), which got its head up and was inclined to overrace. ALL IN ORDER (W. Wheatley), which was following OCTOBER GREY, was inconvenienced in this incident.
On straightening, THEBAREFOOTBUSHMAN was disappointed for a run between ALL IN ORDER and FOREVER BILL (M. Price), and near the 300m, had to switch to the inside of the heels of ALL IN ORDER in an effort to gain clear running.
Near the 100m, REAR ADMIRAL was tightened for room between ALL IN ORDER and THEBAREFOOTBUSHMAN, which was inclined to lay out under pressure.
At the same stage, SECTAGONAL (R. Plumb) shifted ground abruptly and brushed LUST FOR VICTORY (R. McMahon).

Race 7: Tattersall’s Members’ Cup – 1600m
1st – Malta 2nd – Video Hits 3rd – Hard To Catch 4th – Prosecution
SCENIC WELLS (S. Katsidis) and ALIFLY (M. Cahill) were both slow to jump.
ADAVALE HORNET (M. Price), which jumped in the air at the start, was hampered shortly after the start between PROSECUTION (C. Spry) and GORDO (T. Pannel), which shifted out.
KREISLER’S JEWEL (W. Wheatley) stood flatfooted and refused to jump with the field. Connections were advised that a final warning was being placed on KERISLER’S JEWEL regarding the horse’s barrier manners.
Near the 1200m, STEP RIGHT IN, which was overracing, had to be checked when it improved on to the heels of HARD TO CATCH (B. Stewart) and shifted out to a position 3 wide. From that point the horse was obliged to race 3 wide until assuming the position outside the leader inside the 600m.
PROSECUTION (C. Spry) also raced fiercely at the heels of STEP RIGHT IN approaching the 1200m. ADAVALE HORNET, which was trailing PROSECUTION, shifted out leaving the 1200m when the pace slowed. ADAVALE HORNET was then obliged to race 3 wide from that point onwards.
Near the 300m, ADAVALE HORNET (M. Price) had to be eased away from the heels of PROSECUTION (C. Spry), which shifted out to improve.
A. Merritt was cautioned for excessive use of the whip on ORIGIN HERO when the gelding was out of contention.
Race 8: Kramer Technologies NMW H’cap – 1200m
1st – Painted Up 2nd – Joe Dirt 3rd – Aim So High 4th – Tornadic Sky
COURT ADJOURNED (W. Wheatley) jumped awkwardly and missed the start.
DORTMUNDER (J. Bowditch) jumped away awkwardlky.
BLUE OYSTER (A. Pattillo) compounded over the concluding stages and a subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A. Pattillo stated that he felt that there may have been something amiss with the horse, and trainer L. Birchley undertook to advise stewards of the results of any veterinary examinations following the race. Connections were advised that the horse would be required to trial to the satsifaction of the stewards before racing again.
COURT ADJOURNED was held up for clear running approaching the 200m.
AUDUBON (T. Pannel) was obliged to race 3 wide for the majority of the race.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of LORD NEDIYM (G. Colless) stated that he could find no excuses, and trainer J. Shelton will be interviewed at a later date regarding the matter.
