SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
As B. Stewart, P. Hammersley and K. Pope were indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Steward Summary Sheet.
Race 1: Fancy A Flutter 3yo & Up Maiden Plate – 1400m
1st – Fulmonti 2nd – Supercilious 3rd – Greenfinder 4th – Terrinadar
WILLIE DANSE (M. Cant) was slow to begin.
MICHELLE CAFEA (R. McMahon) jumped outwards at the start and made contact with MR BUBBLE (J. Taylor).
JUSTRE BUSTER (B. El-Issa) jumped away awkwardly and bumped FULMONTI (B. Pengelly).
Approaching the 1200m, MY LION ANGEL (M. Rice) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BUMPERGEE (S. Apthorpe), which shifted in. S. Apthorpe, rider of BUMPERGEE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
J. Warrington, rider of WISHING WIND, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1100m, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MY LION ANGEL (M. Rice), resulting in that gelding having to be checked to avoid the heels of WISHING WIND and make contact with MR BUBBLE (J. Taylor). J. Warrington was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 22 April, and to expire at midnight, 6 May 2006.
Nearing the 600m, SPECIAL SAVINGS (J. Byrne), which was overracing, had to be steadied off the heels of MY LION ANGEL. WILLIE DANSE, which was following, also had to be steadied.
Approaching the 500m, BUMPERGEE (S. Apthorpe) had to be checked when tightened for room between SUPERCILIOUS (J. Holder) and FULMONTI (B. Pengelly), which was overracing on the heels of the tiring MICHELLE CAFEA (R. McMahon) and shifted out. In this incident, SUPERCILIOUS had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of JUSTRE BUSTER (B. El-Issa). WISHING WIND (J. Warrington), which was following, shifted out abruptly, inconveniencing MY LION ANGEL (M. Rice) and HEAVEN AND GOLD (S. Katsidis).
Near the 450m, SPECIAL SAVINGS was placed in restricted room between GREENFINDER (M. Cahill) and MR BUBBLE (J. Taylor), which shifted in slightly.
Shortly after entering the straight, BUMPERGEE (S. Apthorpe) and JUSTRE BUSTER (B. El-Issa) were momentarily inconvenienced by SUPERCILIOUS (J. Holder), which shifted in.
Passing the 400m, MR BUBBLE ran up on to the heels of JUSTRE BUSTER and had to be steadied.
Near the 200m, MR BUBBLE (J. Taylor) had to be steadied when tightened for room between HULA CHIEFTAIN (S. Drake), which shifted out slightly, and WISHING WIND (J. Warrington), which shifted in under pressure. J. Warrington, rider of WISHING WIND, was reprimanded.
HEAVEN AND GOLD (S. Katsidis) was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.
Following the event, Jockey J. Warrington reported to stewards that something may have been amiss with WISHING WIND. Trainer L. Smith was advised that he would have to provide a full veterinary certificate for WISHING WIND and that the mare must trial satisfactorily in an official trial prior to its next race start.
A post race veterinary examination of SPECIAL SAVINGS failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
The club’s veterinary surgeon also reported that JUSTRE BUSTER was suffering from thumps. Trainer P. Stennett was advised that the gelding would be required to barrier trial satisfactorily, and he would also be required to provide to stewards a full veterinary clearance and the results of a endoscopic examination and ECG.
Race 2: Easter Sprint 2yo C&G H’cap – 1200m
1st – Ghetto Blaster 2nd – Weirdo 3rd – Carry To Glory 4th – Boomberang
TOP WIN was a late scratching at 7.48 a.m. on veterinary advice.
Stewards accepted jockey J. Bowditch’s explanation for failing to arrive on course in time to fulfil his engagement on RORY’S THUNDER. K. Wharton was substituted as the rider of RORY’S THUNDER.
CARRY TO GLORY (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.
BALBORA (A. Pattillo) and RORY’S THUNDER (K. Wharton) jumped away awkwardly.
Shortly after the start, REMMLA (A. Erhart) was placed in restricted room between BOOMERANG (T. Pannel) and CAFFE DI CLANG, which shifted in.
Approaching the 1000m, CARRY TO GLORY (J. Byrne) commenced to overrace and had to be steadied off the heels of CAFFE DI CLANG (M. Cahill).
After passing the 1000m, BALBORA (A. Pattillo) commenced to overrace.
Approaching the 800m, RORY’S THUNDER ran up on to the heels of GHETTO BLASTER (S. Katsidis) and had to be steadied.
CHATOSTAR (B. El-Issa) had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.
CARRY TO GLORY and MOGLICH (J. Holder) were obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.
Stewards opened an inquiry into the bona fides of the training of WEIRDO. After taking evidence from trainer L. Compton, stewards adjourned the inquiry to a time and date to be fixed.
Race 3: QTC.ORG Class 6 H’cap – 1815m
1st – Fair Ace 2nd – Wheel The Lead 3rd – Abu Simbel 4th – Flaming Inferno
As C. Spry was to be overweight, J. Warrington was substituted as the rider of LAMBRETTA. C. Spry was fined $100.
LAMBRETTA (J. Warrington) was slow to begin.
The saddle on REGULUS (D. Evans) shifted forward near the 1400m, placing D. Evans at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
REGULUS (D. Evans) raced wide in the early stages and commenced to overrace.
After passing the 400m, ABU SIMBEL (M. Cahill), which was endeavouring to shift out to improve around the heels of KAYEZED (A. Pattillo) to improve, made contact with THAT’S MY MUM (M. Palmer) on several occasions.
Near the 200m, WHEEL THE LEAD (S. Katsidis) shifted in and brushed THAT’S MY MUM.
POINT OF HONOUR (J. Holder) was held up for clear running inside the final 100m.
THAT’S MY MUM (M. Palmer) and ADVANTAGE PLUS (K. Yoshida) were forced to race wide for the majority of the race.
Race 4: Mount Franklin 3yo Class 6 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Nasrullah’s Girl 2nd – Caos Cross 3rd – Nexgen 4th – Monzip
Trainer K. Doughty was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for MARDI MAGRAR by the prescribed time.
MASAI PRIDE was slow to begin.
NEXGEN (A. Pattillo) and MEDIA FUND (S. Galloway) came together on jumping away.
R. McMahon, rider of NASRULLAH’S GIRL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the 1200m he allowed the filly to shift in when insufficiently clear of NEXGEN (A. Pattillo), resulting in that gelding having to be restrained and striking the heels of NASRULLAH’S GIRL and blundering. R. McMahon was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 22 April and to expire at midnight, 3 May 2006.
Near the 1250m, MEDIA FUND ran up on to the heels JUST ORDAINED (J. Holder) and had to be steadied.
A post race veterinary examination of JUST ORDAINED revealed the gelding to be sore in the off fore. Trainer B. McLachlan’s foreman, Mr G. Pollock, was advised that a full veterinary certificate must be produced to stewards prior to the horse’s next race start.
Race 5: Tiny Turfers NMW H’cap – 1500m
1st – Loughnan 2nd – British Storm 3rd – Mr Baadot 4th – Rapid Season
Trainer M. Goodwin was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for BIRUBI CHOSEN by the prescribed time.
Trainer J. Hawkes was fined $100 for incorrectly declaring R. McMahon as the rider of COMARCA.
Due to traffic difficulties, R. Mason was unable to fulfil her engagement on LAST HUMAN and was replaced by M. Radecker.
BRITISH STORM (B. Pengelly) was slow to begin.
BUCK SEASON (M. Palmer) jumped away awkwardly.
YOUR LION EYES (J. Taylor) had to be steadied near the 1200m to avoid the heels of BIRUBI CHOSEN (K. Yoshida), which shifted in. K. Yoshida, rider of BIRUBI, was reprimanded.
Near the 900m, BIRUBI CHOSEN (K. Yoshida) shifted out and bumped BIT OF MAGIC (J. Bowditch).
At the 800m, ROBERT’S REWARD (A. Erhart) was inclined to lay in and had to be steadied off the heels of CALL ME VICTOR (S. Galloway).
BIT OF MAGIC (J. Bowditch) made the 600m crossing awkwardly.
Near the 300m, MR LISTER (D. Peisley) improved up on to the heels of BIRUBI CHOSEN (K. Yoshida) and had to be steadied.
RAPID REASON (S. Katsidis) shifted out to improve near the 200m and brushed ROBERT’S REWARD (A. Erhart).
Near the 150m, JUMPIN’ JARED (M. Rice) was momentarily tightened for room between YOUR LION EYES (J. Taylor) and GOING SOLO (J. Watkins).
DOWN TO EARTH (M. Cahill) and THE CAVERN CLUB (R. Plumb) were forced to race wide throughout.
Race 6: Lyndhurst Stud 2mw Last Year H’cap – 1500m
1st – Mameluke 2nd – Umaprince 3rd – What A Guy 4th – Oliver’s Magic
GREEK ADONIS (B. Pengelly) jumped away awkwardly and made contact with AIDAN JAMES (M. Price).
After passing the 1400m, GREEK ADONIS (B. Pengelly) had to be steadied off the heels of HELDEN PARK (A. Erhart).
Near the 1300m, RA RA RULENZA (J. Holder) and BAGDAD (R. Plumb) were placed in restricted room to the inside of MYTHOLOGICAL (T. Pannel), which was taken in by DANE IN GOLD (J. Warrington). J. Warrington, rider of DANE IN GOLD, was reprimanded.
WHAT A GUY (J. Byrne) had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn.
Near the 300m, RA RA RULENZA (J. Holder) shifted out and bumped BAGHDAD (R. Plumb).
SONARCHI (M. Radecker) and MYTHOLOGICAL (T. Pannel) raced wide for the majority of the event.
When questioned regarding the performance of BAGHDAD, R. Plumb stated that the horse travelled well, however when placed under pressure shortly after straightening, BAGHDAD failed to respond to his riding.
A post race veterinary examination of DANE IN GOLD revealed the gelding be lame in the off foreleg as a result of a ruptured tendon. Trainer K. Kemp will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to its next race start.
The club’s veterinary surgeon also reported that RA RA RULENZA had pulled up lame in the off foreleg. Mr P. Nolan, representing trainer M. Nolan, was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for that horse prior to its next race start.
Race 7: Winter Carnival 3-12 June Class 6 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Aim So High 2nd – Mystikos 3rd – Birthday Bash 4th – Defecting Playboy
PICTURE BOOK (M. Morris) and DEFECTING PLAYBOY (K. Wharton) came together on jumping away and shortly after were placed in restricted room between KING’S CLAN (J. Bowditch) and MYSTIKOS (T. Pannel), which was taken in slightly by ROYAL OPERA (J. Byrne).
ROYAL OPERA (J. Byrne) overraced in the early and middle stages.
At the 600m, PICTURE BOOK had to be checked off the heels of DEFECTING PLAYBOY.
Near the 100m, KING’S CLAN (J. Bowditch) had to be steadied when tightened for room between DOCTOR HENNESSY and PICTURE BOOK, which shifted out.
Passing the 100m, GENERAL SAM (K. Yoshida) had to be steadied off the heels of NAVARRO (B. El-Issa).
On the finish line, MYAGI (S. Galloway) was momentarily cramped for room between PICTURE BOOK and NAVARRO, which was taken in by BIRTHDAY BASH (J. Holder).
AIM SO HIGH (S. Katsidis) and DOCTOR HENNESSY (B. Pengelly) were forced to race wide throughout.
A post race veterinary examination of NAVARRO revealed the mare to have been galloped on on off hind fetlock and hock.
Race 8: QTC Members’ NMW H’cap – 1000m
1st – Dulacca Diva 2nd – Shaycan Silver 3rd – Mister Big Foot 4th – Instructed
Jockey A. Best pleaded guilty to a charge under AR118C©, in that he did attempt to weigh out without a body protector. Subsequently A. Best failed to make the weight and was replaced on KUDROW by K. Wharton. A. Best was fined the sum of $1500. Stewards allowed A. Best 3 months to pay the fine.
Shortly after the start, BRO (R. Mason) blundered.
DULACCA DIVA (S. Katsidis) jumped inwards at the start and bumped KUDROW (K. Wharton).
KUDROW was inclined to hang out after passing the 700m..
SHAYCAN SILVER (A. Pattillo) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.
A post race veterinary examination of THIS TOO SHALL PASS failed to reveal any abnormalities, and a swab sample was taken.
