As M. Palmer was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
Race 1: Moreton Bar Maiden Plate 1600m
1st – Way Of The World 2nd – My Almanac 3rd – Go The Red 4th - Pemberly
WAY OF THE WORLD (J. Byrne) and BENJI’S BABE (M. Price) brushed on jumping away.
SAILING AWAY (J. Bowditch) raced wide in the early stages.
Approaching the 1000m, RIPPER MISS (M. Radecker) was cramped for room between BENJI’S BABE and PICAPAL (B. Pengelly), which shifted in. B. Pengelly, rider of PICAPAL, was instructed to provide more clearance in future when crossing.
WAY OF THE WORLD (J. Byrne) was held up rounding the home turn.
Approaching the 400m, MY ALMANAC (K. Pope) shifted out to improve and in doing so made contact with BENJI’S BABE.
Race 2: Vice Regal Room 3yo C&G Maiden H’cap – 1000m
1st – Patriots Day 2nd – April Affair 3rd – Rock Slide 4th – Hail Free
FUTURE DRIVEN (B. Payne), PATRIOTS DAY (S. Scriven) were slow to begin.
SEABANK (S. Seamer) was also a little slow to jump.
LIFE’S SHORT (K. Wharton) and HAIL FREE (J. Byrne) jumped akwwardly.
N. Day, rider of ROCK SLIDE, dropped his whip leaving the 200m.
APRIL AFFAIR lost its near hind plate in running.
Race 3: Laboratory 3yo Fillies Maiden H’cap – 1000m
1st – Siodee 2nd – Wusta 3rd – Dynamic Diva 4th – Kalinga Kate
Trainer B. Ruming was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for JACARANDA SPINIFEX by the prescribed time.
MY FIRST LADY proved diffcult to load, delaying the start. The connections were advised that a further barrier certificate would be required before MY FIRST LADY races again.
FOURFLOOSIES (J. Holder) and BEESEM (M. Radecker) came together on jumping away.
WUSTA (P. Hammersley) and HILDA STREET GIRL (M. Price) also made contact at the start.
JACARANDA SPINIFEX (C. Spry) was slow to begin.
KALINGA KATE (J. Byrne) was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.
After leaving the 200m, KALINGA KATE attempted to take a run between WUSTA (P. Hammersley) and SIODEE (M. Cahill), however approaching the 100m, J. Byrne, rider of KALINGA KATE, was obliged to steady his mount when WUSTA shifted ground outwards under pressure.
A post race veterinary examination of HILDA STREET GIRL revealed the horse to be suffering from bruising and a haemtoma to the off shoulder.
Race 4: QTC Functions & Catering Class 6 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Finder Page 2nd – Spur Me on 3rd – Taabinga Lass 4th – Peterkin
D. Craven, rider of AZZASON, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of DESERT SAMBA (M. Radecker), resulting in DESERT SAMBA clipping the heels of AZZASON and blundering. D. Craven was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 16 September, and to expire at midnight, 26 September 2006.
A post race veterinary examination of DESERT SAMBA revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the off side foreleg.
Race 5: Stradbroke Bar Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – On The Nose 2nd – Chosen Goddess 3rd - Grand Laddie 4th – Unique Around
As B. Pengelly was to be overweight, S. Seamer was substituted as the rider of DASHABLONDE. B. Pengelly was fined the sum of $500.
Trainer D. Murphy was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for CRIBB ISLAND by the prescribed time.
A pre-race veterinary examination of FOUR KINGS, which bumped itself in the race day stalls, was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.
CRIBB ISLAND (N. Day) jumped awkwardly.
Approaching the 700m, FOUR KINGS (S. Drake) improved on to the heels of UNIQUE AROUND (G. Colless) and shifted out, taking CHOSEN GODDESS (J. Bowditch) wider on the track.
FOUR KNGS (S. Drake) improved to the inside of the heels of POLAR HUT (D. Craven) on straightening and had to be steadied and then shifted out across the heels of POLAR HUT to obtain clear running.
On straightening, GRAND LADDIE (B. Stewart) commenced to improve to the inside of LITERACY (C. Eaton), which shifted out. However passing the 300m, LITERACY shifted back towards the rails and GRAND LADDIE had to be steadied and shifted out away from the rails. As GRAND LADDIE was in the process of shifting out away from the rails, INNOCENT LAD (R. Plumb), which was racing to the outside, had to be steadied.
Approaching the 100m, INNOCENT LAD (R. Plumb) shifted out abruptly, forcing KAHU (K. Wharton) out on to ETCHED IN BLACK (S. Scriven).
Race 6: Ascot Bar Class 3 Plate – 2150m
1st – Rezone 2nd – Dicktator 3rd – Instant Reward 4th – Feather Bed
ASHMARK (L. Fyfe) was fractious in the barriers and became cast. A veterinary examination of ASHMARK subsequently clear the horse to race.
CHARZIG (M. Radecker) was slow to begin.
VAL DE ROI (C. Spry) was tightened for room at the start when taken in on to BEARHART LAD (B. Payne) by SEATTLE SPIEL (J. Bowditch), which jumped inwards.
After leaving the 1800m, ASHMARK (L. Fyfe) was inclined to get its head up and raced ungenerously at the heels of REZONE (S. Scriven).
THE COUTES WAY (K. Wharton) had difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance in the straight.
A post race veterinary examination of MOSHI MOSHI found the gelding to be lame in the off side front flexor tendon.
Race 7: Lyndhurst Stud Class 4 H’cap – 1600m
1st – Santi 2nd – Jimidean 3rd – British Storm 4th – Rising Success
SANTI (J. Bowditch) and JIMIDEAN (K. Wharton) came together on jumping away.
SARGE MCGRATH (A. Spinks) jumped awkwardly.
Near the 300m, ASSERTIVE PRINCE (L. Fyfe) was disappointed when attempting to take a tight run between SWEPTRONIC (A. Merritt) and AUDITORIUM (T. Treichel). A short distance later, ASSERTIVE PRINCE then obtained a run between SWEPTRONIC (A. Merritt) and AUDITORIUM, however near the 200m had to be checked off the heels of AUDITORIUM, which shifted outwards under pressure when tiring.
Race 8: Members’ Bar Class 3 H’cap – 1300m
1st – Sovereign Dream 2nd – Tellasecret 3rd – Telfire 4th - Boomerang
TELFIRE (S. Galloway) was tightened near the 1200m between EXORBITANT (J. Byrne), which was taken in by TELLASECRET (T. Treichel), and DOUBLE BIS (K. Wharton), which shifted in when not fully clear. K. Wharton, rider of DOUBLE BIS, was severely reprimanded and advised to provide more clearance when shifting ground.
EXORBITANT (J. Byrne) pulled hard rounding the first turn.
Leaving the 300m, BOOMERANG (T. Pannell) blundered when it shifted out and made contact with the tiring LATIN TANGO (R. Plumb).
Near the 200m, HEART OF THE LION (C. Small) was tightened for room between BOOMERANG, which shifted out, and SOVEREIGN DREAM (M. Cahill), which shifted in. Both M. Cahill, rider of SOVEREIGN DREAM, and T. Pannell, rider of BOOMERANG, were cautioned and instructed to take greater measures to keep their mounts straight.
SOVEREIGN DREAM shifted in under pressure over the final 200m. M. Cahill, rider of SOVEREIGN DREAM, was cautioned and warned to take greater measures to keep his mounts straight in the run to the run to the finish.
J. Byrne, rider of EXORBITANT, was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right to the finish line.
