SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Eagle Farm 4.6.11:

Race 6: J. Maskiell was fined $200 under AR. 120(b) for being overweight on DEER VALLEY. In assessing penalty stewards were mindful of J. Maskiell’s good record in regard to this matter, however as the race was a Group 2 event they determined that in the circumstances a monetary penalty was warranted.

Race 1: AMBASSADOR TRAVEL LANCASTER STAKES - 1200m
1st – Belle D’Amour 2nd – Abstract 3rd – Epona Princess 4th – Lady Mary

SARAJI (K. Wharton) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start BELLE D'AMOUR (C. Munce) was tightened for room and LADY MARY (D. Dunn) had to be checked to avoid the heels of NOT TO SHARE, when that runner shifted out slightly, and DOUG'S JET (G. Schofield) shifted in slightly.

Near the 800m LICK 'EM LOLLY (Matthew Palmer) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room between LUCKY MORNA (L. Nolen) and CINDAROCKINRELLA (C. Brown), both of which shifted ground slightly.

SARAJI raced wide in the early stages.

MERRYANNA (J. Taylor), CINDAROCKINRELLA, LUCKY MORNA, LICK 'EM LOLLY and EPONA PRINCESS (G. Colless) raced wide throughout.

For some distance near the 500m LADY MARY had to be restrained from the heels of ABSTRACT (K. McEvoy) which shifted out to improve.

Passing the 500m C’EST LORRAINE (S. Galloway) was tightened for room and brushed the running rail when NOT TO SHARE (A. Butler) shifted in slightly.

LITTLE MISS VICKY (M. Rodd) was held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn.

JET STAR GIRL (T. Bell) was held up for clear running for the entire length of the straight.

Rounding the home turn and in the straight until passing the 300m LADY MARY was held up and unable to improve.

C’EST LORRAINE was held up on the heels of the tiring SETTHEWORLDONFIRE (T. Clark) between the 400m and the 200m.

Leaving the 300m CALLAN PARK (R. Wiggins) shifted out and bumped CINDAROCKINRELLA.

Near the 100m EMPLUS (J. McDonald) raced in restricted room for a short distance between LADY MARY and LITTLE MISS VICKY which shifted out when racing greenly.

Stewards sought an explanation from C. Brown regarding the disappointing performance of CINDAROCKINRELLA. C. Brown explained that the filly did not appreciate coming back in distance today from its last start over 1350m. He added that he was obliged to race wide throughout but CINDAROCKINRELLA could not sprint under riding at the entrance to the straight. A post-race veterinary examination of CINDAROCKINRELLA revealed no abnormalities.

Race 2: DAVID JONES LIGHTNING HANDICAP - 1000m
1st – Trusted Partner 2nd – Warrior Girl 3rd – Facile Tigre 4th – Temple Of Boom

As J. Maskiell was delayed arriving at the track, R. Wiggins was substituted as the rider of LOTSAMOOLA.

ADEBISI (T. Bell) and MULTIRE MUSIC (T. Clark) were slow to begin.

Approaching the 800m FALCO STAR (P. Hammersley) shifted in and bumped the hind quarters of ADEBISI.

MULTIRE MUSIC, NICKIERA (Matthew Palmer) and CARRY THE CLUBS (C. Munce) raced wide throughout.

After passing the 800m NICKIERA shifted out away from BEETHOG (J. Bowditch), which resulted in TEMPLE OF BOOM (C. Brown) being hampered.

In the straight until near the 250m PYROGRAPHY (K. McEvoy) had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Approaching the 200m BEETHOG was inconvenienced when tightened for room between MULTIRE MUSIC and WARRIOR GIRL (J. Taylor) when both runners shifted ground slightly.

Passing the 200m LOTSAMOOLA (R. Wiggins) shifted out under pressure and bumped LIFEBUOY (L. Cropp).

Stewards sought an explanation from T. Bell in regards to the tactics employed on ADEBISI. T. Bell stated that whilst the horse stood calmly in the gates, as the start was effected it turned its head to the side and as a result was slow to begin. This resulted in him racing further back in the field than he would have liked. T. Bell added that he is aware of the horse’s tendency to overrace so he was reluctant to take a trailing position on the fence behind runners and otherwise chose to take a trailing position three wide, however rounding the home turn ADEBISI commenced to lay out, proving difficult to ride. His explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of ADEBISI revealed no abnormalities.

Race 3: XXXX GOLD STRAWBERRY ROAD HANDICAP - 1600m
1st – Willy Jimmy 2nd – St Germaine 3rd – Frozone 4th – Atom Cat

PALACIO DE CRISTAL (D. Dunn), WEB OF LOVE (C. Brown) and OUR LUKAS (G. Colless) were slow to begin.

LUCKY LUNA (J. Bowditch), EL CHICO (C. Munce), FIFTEEN CARAT (S. Galloway), BLAZING HEARTS (J. Byrne) and ABSENT FRIENDS (G. Schofield) all overraced in the early stages.

EQUABLE (L. Nolen) raced three wide in the early stages.

ATOM CAT (J. McDonald), WEB OF LOVE and FROZONE (K. McEvoy) all raced three wide throughout.

ABSENT FRIENDS raced extremely wide throughout.

Leaving the 900m WEB OF LOVE shifted out slightly resulting in FROZONE having to be steadied.

Stewards sought an explanation from G. Schofield regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of ABSENT FRIENDS. G. Schofield stated that the horse suffered a tightening at the start and a short distance after the start was positioned behind FIFTEEN CARAT and SPECHENKA (R. Wiggins), both of which were restrained to take a rearward position. As a result of this, G. Schofield indicated that rather than being taken too far back, he improved around those runners and was forced to race three wide from that point on. G. Schofield further added that whilst the horse appeared disappointing, the circumstances that he outlined and the fact that he was of the view that the horse did not appreciate the firm surface may have had a bearing on its overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination of ABSENT FRIENDS revealed the gelding to be exhibiting soreness in both forelegs. Trainer L. Mayfield-Smith’s stable representative was advised that a veterinary clearance must be produced for ABSENT FRIENDS prior to its next start.

SPECHENKA lost its near fore plate in running.

K. McEvoy, the rider of FROZONE, was fined $300 under AR. 145 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram overweight.

Race 4: AUSTRALIAN SPECIAL METALS BRISBANE CUP - 2400m
1st – Tullamore 2nd – Glass Harmonium 3rd – De Fine Lago 4th – Ironstein

Stewards acceded to a request from trainer J. Sadler to allow C. Brown to ride THE CHEVRON half a kilogram overweight. C. Brown was fined $200 for being overweight.

After travelling a short distance THE CHEVRON (C. Brown) was tightened for room by VIKING HERO (G. Schofield), which shifted in. As a result, THE CHEVRON was taken in on to DE FINE LAGO (J. Byrne) which was taken across the heels of STREETS AWAY (R. Quinn).

VIKING HERO and TINSELTOWN (K. McEvoy) raced three wide throughout.

STREETS AWAY overraced in the early and middle stages.

After passing the 600m DE FINE LAGO attempted to shift out around the heels of SHUFFLE THE CASH (L. Nolen), resulting in DE FINE LAGO making heavy contact with PERSIAN STAR (M. Walker). Approaching the 500m DE FINE LAGO again shifted out and made heavy contact with PERSIAN STAR, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced. J. Byrne, the rider of DE FINE LAGO, was issued with a reprimand and advised to ensure there is sufficient room when improving.

Passing the 200m TINSELTOWN shifted out and brushed RAEBURN (S. Galloway), which was taken out on to THE CHEVRON.

MANCUSO (J. Taylor) compounded badly in the home straight.

J. Byrne, the rider of DE FINE LAGO, was reprimanded under AR. 137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip in a forehand manner in excess of 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

C. Munce, the rider of TULLAMORE, was fined $500 under AR. 137A(5)(a)(ii) for using the whip in a forehand manner in excess of 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

Race 5: PATINACK FARM T.J. SMITH - 1600m
1st – Benfica 2nd – Hot Snitzel 3rd – Playtime 4th – Dowager Queen

K. McEvoy, the rider of BENFICA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that near the 1300m he permitted his mount to shift in, placing PLAYTIME (S. Seamer) in restricted room, and eventually near the 1200m he allowed his mount to shift in further which resulted in PLAYTIME having to be checked from the heels of BENFICA. K. McEvoy’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 15 June, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 26 June 2011.

Passing the 1200m DOUBLE IMPACT (C. Munce) had to be steadied when tightened for room between FONTELINA (L. Nolen), which was inclined to hang out, and HOT SNITZEL (H. Bowman), which shifted in slightly.

DOUBLE IMPACT and DOWAGER QUEEN (J. McDonald) raced wide throughout.

FONTELINA commenced to hang out from the 800m which resulted in DOUBLE IMPACT being taken wider on the track. As a result of FONTELINA hanging out, PLAYTIME (S. Seamer) was able to improve to that runner’s inside near the 700m.

Near the 150m HOT SNITZEL shifted in under pressure and brushed BENFICA (K. McEvoy).

L. Nolen advised that FONTELINA was inclined to hang out for a major part of the race and proved difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination of FONTELINA revealed lameness in the near foreleg and off hind leg. Trainer A. Cummings will be advised that he must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness for the colt prior to it racing again.

Race 6: CHANNEL SEVEN QUEENSLAND DERBY - 2400m
1st – Shootoff 2nd – Shez Sinsational 3rd – Heidilicious 4th – Yulalona

SATCH (P. Hammersley) jumped awkwardly and shifted in, resulting in SHADOWS IN THE SUN (T. Clark) being taken in and tightening the running of DIAMOND JIM (C. Brown).

SHOOTOFF (M. Rodd) jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with CHARING CROSS (N. Rawiller).

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion EQUISSENTIAL (P. Wolfgram) shifted out and bumped SATCH.

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion SINGLE (D. Spriggs) had to be steadied when tightened for room between SHEZ SINSATIONAL (O. Bosson) which after shifting in initially was taken in by SHOOTOFF. In the circumstances stewards advised both O. Bosson and M. Rodd to exercise more care to ensure that when they are shifting ground they are clear to do so. HOUR OF PERIL (G. Colless) and OFORAWESOME (B. Rawiller), which were following, had to be checked.

SATCH raced three wide throughout.

L. Nolen, the rider of TURNITUP, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1300m, resulting in HEIDILICIOUS (J. Byrne) being taken in across the heels of ALMA’S FURY (H. Bowman) and having to be steadied. SHEZ SINSATIONAL, which was following, had to be steadied and shifted out taking SHOOTOFF wider on the track. SHOOTOFF was then obliged to race three wide over the final 1100m.

Near the 900m EQUISSENTIAL improved up on to the heels of CHARING CROSS and had to be checked.

HEIDILICIOUS was held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight until obtaining a narrow run to the inside of SHADOWS IN THE SUN near the 350m.

Near the 400m SHADOWS IN THE SUN shifted out and brushed PLAYACTION (G. Schofield).

Near the 350m ALMA'S FURY had to be steadied from the heels of PLAY when that runner shifted out when weakening.

H. Bowman reported that ALMA'S FURY began well but raced very keenly throughout and did not settle. A post-race veterinary examination of ALMA'S FURY revealed no abnormalities.

Rider L. Nolen reported that TURNITUP hung out for a major part of the event.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SHADOWS IN THE SUN and DIAMOND JIM revealed no abnormalities.

Race 7: AAMI STRADBROKE HANDICAP - 1400m
1st – Sincero 2nd – Beaded 3rd – Zero Rock 4th – Buffering

A veterinary examination of SINCERO (J. Taylor) in the horse stall area prior to the race revealed a minor laceration to the near hind hock. SINCERO was passed fit to start.

RAFFAELLO (L. Cropp) was slow to begin.

RAFFAELLO overraced in the early stages and near the 1000m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of LOVE CONQUERS ALL (C. Munce).

THANKGODYOU'REHERE (R. Quinn) and RIGHTFULLY YOURS (J. Byrne) overraced in the early stages.

ZERO ROCK (T. Clark) raced three wide without cover throughout.

BOLD GLANCE (S. Seamer), RIGHTFULLY YOURS and SNIPER'S BULLET (M. Rodd) raced extremely wide throughout.

BORDER REBEL (T. Bell) overraced in the middle stages and for some distance approaching and passing the 800m had to be restrained off the heels of SINCERO. As a result, BORDER REBEL shifted in and brushed ALL SILENT (N. Rawiller).

WOORIM (C. Brown) was held up when unable to obtain clear running in the home straight until passing the 200m.

Stewards sought an explanation from C. Munce regarding the performance of LOVE CONQUERS ALL. C. Munce stated that the horse was a little slow to begin and was forced to race in restricted room for a short distance after the start and was reluctant to hold its position. Jockey Munce added that this resulted in him settling further back than he anticipated. He further added that despite this, in his view, LOVE CONQUERS ALL was very disappointing in its effort over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination of LOVE CONQUERS ALL revealed no abnormalities.

H. Bowman reported that in his opinion the weight carried by BLACK PIRANHA had a telling effect on its performance today. He added that he was held up for clear running in the straight and when eventually clear the horse peaked on its run 50m from the finish.

Race 8: SKY RACING QUEENSLAND GUINEAS - 1600m
1st – Torio’s Quest 2nd – Benny’s Buttons 3rd – Spot The Rock 4th – Smokin’ Joey

READY TO RIP (S. Arnold) and FALINO (T. Clark) bumped shortly after the start.

S. Scriven, the rider of HAVATRYST, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that approaching the 1300m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of TIGRESS LILY (J. McDonald), resulting in that filly being taken in on to RUN FOR LEVI (N. Rawiller), which had to be checked when tightened for room between BENNY'S BUTTONS and TIGRESS LILY, and further that he again allowed his mount to shift in taking TIGRESS LILY in on to BENNY'S BUTTONS which was taken in on to SMOKIN' JOEY (C. Brown), which lost its rightful running. As a result of RUN FOR LEVI having to be checked, TORIO'S QUEST (H. Bowman) and BIANCA JEWEL (R. Wiggins), which were following, were also checked. As a result BIANCA JEWEL shifted out causing UNDER THE EIFFEL (M. Rodd) and FASHION to also be checked when FASHION was taken across the heels of READY TO RIP. S. Scriven’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Saturday, 18 June, and expire at midnight on Friday, 1 July 2011.

SPOT THE ROCK (G. Schofield), IGLES STAR (J. Taylor), FALLINO and STEEL ZIP (G. Colless) all raced wide throughout.

Passing the 500m SMOKIN' JOEY shifted out to improve and placed TIGRESS LILY in restricted room to the inside of UPSALA.

Near the 100m SMOKIN' JOEY shifted in to improve, resulting in FASHION and BIANCA JEWEL being tightened for room.

Shortly after entering the home straight SIR FOX shifted out and brushed SKILLED (K. McEvoy) on two occasions.

An inquiry will be held into the reason why HAVATRYST suffered interference near the 400m.

A post-race veterinary examination of READY TO RIP (S. Arnold) revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer A. Williamson was advised that he must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness for READY TO RIP prior to its next start.

A post-race veterinary examination of FALINO revealed the gelding to be exhibiting an audible respiratory noise. Trainer J. Caught indicated that the horse will be sent for a spell. Stewards advised Mr Caught that he must produce a veterinary clearance for FALINO and have an endoscopic examination carried out on the horse prior to it resuming racing.
