Supplementary Report

As J. Masters, S. Galloway and J. Kropp were indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Winning Edge Presentations QTIS 2yo H'cap - 1400m
1st – Holey Gadoley 2nd – Stolen Kisses 3rd – Fathom 4th – Prickly Ballroom

ARAGON (N. Yamada) and WISP O’WILL (G. Cooksley) were slow to begin.

Near the 800m when the pace slackened MODERN WARFARE (J. Wood) commenced to overrace and improved up on to the heels of HOLEY GADOLEY (M. Vance) and shifted out. RING ME RUBY (R. Wiggins) then improved into a position vacated by MODERN WARFARE, which resulted in MODERN WARFARE being obliged to race 3 wide for the remainder of the race.

Stewards sought an explanation from jockey P. Hammersly in respect to the seemingly disappointing performance of MIDNGHT FURY. P. Hammersley stated that after being slow to begin, MIDNIGHT FURY was hesitant to stretch out and hold a position in the field and as a result settled in a rearward position. He added that MIDNIGHT FURY travelled well during the middle stages but was disappointing in its finishing effort in the home straight. P. Hammersley added that the way the filly raced gave him the indication it may not have been entirely comfortable on the firm surface. A post race veterinary examination of MIDNIGHT FURY failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 2: Drumbeats@Lyndhurst Maiden Plate – 1400m
1st – O’Grady 2nd – Acadane 3rd – Emmz Amelia 4th - Neomagic

Trainer B. Laming was reprimanded for failing to advise the addition of a nose roll to LADY MARY by the prescribed time.

ZIGURAT (M. Vance) stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer J. Caught was advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

ADVENTUROUS REG (G. Colless) began awkwardly and shifted out across the heels of O’GRADY (L. Cassidy).

Near the 1300m, LADY MARY (A. Mundy), which was racing ungenerously, improved onto the heels of TERETOA (T. Harrison) and had to be steadied.

G. Colless reported that ADVENTUROUS REG raced erratically throughout and near the 1100m shifted in and became very awkward and made contact with the running rail. He added that passing the 1000m ADVENTUROUS REG again proved difficult to ride and shifted out across the heels of TERETOA (T. Harrison). Trainer J. Chapman was advised that due to its racing manners ADVENTUROUS REG would be required to compete in an official trial prior to its next race start.

C. Munce reported that DENWOOD raced very one-paced and he was forced to apply pressure to the horse from the 800m onwards in order to hold a position. He added that DENWOOD finished the race off well in the home straight and he informed connections that the horse would benefit from being stepped up in distance.

Race 3: Qld Frozen Food Services Class 6 Plate - 1600m
1st – Horoscopes 2nd – Garozzo 3rd – Bingo Rose 4th – Snip ‘n’ Duck

In the absence of further submissions from trainer D. Pendergast, a fine of $200 will be imposed for failing to scratch ENCOSTAS GIFT by the prescribed time.

GO KINGPIN (B. Stewart) was slow to begin.

ALTONIO (K. Nestor) began awkwardly.

Near the 1200m, SAM’S TOWN (L. Cassidy) had to be steadied from the heels of IRON RED (D. Green) when that runner shifted in.

Passing the 800m, SAM’S TOWN improved between IRON RED (D. Green) and KAUNDA (D. Browne) where there was insufficient room and as a result had to be steadied by its rider. D. Green, rider of IRON RED, was advised to exercise more care.

ALTONIO (K. Nestor) raced 3 wide throughout.

Trainer L. Van Der Sluys was advised that IRON RED, which performance poorly and was beaten a considerable distance, would be ineligible to compete in the metropolitan area until it could establish competitive form in the provincial area.

SNIP ‘N’ DUCK (P. Keane) lost its off fore plate in running.

A post race veterinary examination of INTERVIEW revealed the horse to be lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance for INTERVIEW would be required prior to its next race start.

A post race veterinary examination of SNIP ‘N’ DUCK revealed the gelding to be suffering from a mild case of heat stress.

Following this race the track rating was upgraded to Good 2 retrospective to this race.

Race 4: Ticketek Class 6 H'cap - 1000m
1st – Cape Kidnappers 2nd – Alltherightmoves 3rd – Cyclone Brad 4th - Snippets Secret

INANNA (G. Colless) reared at the start and lost ground.

CYCLONE BRAD (C. Whiteley) was slow to begin.

LIFEBUOY (A. Allen) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with the hind quarters of ALLTHERIGHTMOVES (B. Stewart).

Near the 700m, LIFEBUOY shifted in of its own accord and made contact with the running rail.

In the early part of the home straight, ALLTHERIGHTMOVES was inclined to lay out under pressure.

After passing the 200m, ALLTHERIGHTMOVES shifted in when placed under pressure and momentarily became awkward at the heels of CAPE KIDNAPPERS (D. Browne) before being corrected.

COMMANDARE (C. Munce) raced wide throughout.

A. Allen, rider of LIFEBUOY, was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Race 5: Racing Retro QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1000m
1st – Saraji 2nd – Mr Favulous 3rd – Kelbenjar 4th – Daph ‘n’ Alf

BEAUZEL (J. Drury) was slow to begin.

SARAJI (M. Vance) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping MR THATCHER (E. Wilkinson).

PSYCHODELIC (G. Cooksley) began awkwardly.

KELBENJAR (P. Hammersley) was hampered at the start when tightened for room between PSYCHODELIC and SUNSETS ON FIRE (A. Pattillo), which shifted out.

Approaching the 900m, MR THATCHER hung in and clipped the heels of SARAJI and blundered, losing ground. Following this, MR THATCHER continued to hang in for some distance.

Nearing the 100m, PEAR TART (T. Bell), which was finishing the race off strongly, was obliged to alter course around the heels of the tiring SUNSETS ON FIRE.

Race 6: David Jones F&M NMW H'cap - 1200m
1st – Sea Marvista 2nd – Little Brown Horse 3rd – I’m Busy 4th – Funny Falve

K. Wharton, rider of I’M BUSY, was reprimanded for using a whip action which resulted in his hand being raised above shoulder height.

SWEET HUSSY (A. Spinks) raced 3 wide throughout.

Stewards sought an explanation from G. Colless regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of TABASSI. G. Colless stated that he was forced to travel wide in the early stages from an outside barrier and whilst he was able to gain a trailing position one off the fence for a short distance in the middle stages, he was again forced to make a 3 wide run approaching the home turn. G. Colless added that whilst TABASSI tired over the concluding stages he was satisfied with its performance in the circumstances.

A post race veterinary examination of TABASSI revealed the horse to be slightly lame in the of foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for the horse prior to its next race start.

Race 7: Coca-Cola Amatil Open H'cap - 1400m
1st – River Lad 2nd – Triple Honour 3rd – Sanderson 4th – Ausworld

Trainer B. Smith was reprimanded for presenting GENERAL PURPLE to the enclosure with incorrect gear.

Following an application by the trainer of STREETS AWAY, Mr A. Bailey, the horse was declared a late scratching at 2.25 pm due to the upgrading of the track.

For some distance approaching and passing the 200m, RIVER LAD (P. Hammersley) raced in restricted room when attempting to take a narrow run between MEET GEORGE (E. Wilkinson) and GENERAL PURPLE (A. Pattillo).

TRIPLE HONOUR (R. Hurdle) had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the straight and near the 150m, rider R. Hurdle was obliged to stop riding and straighten the gelding.

LAKE GEORGE (T. Harrison) raced 3 deep throughout.

Stewards sought an explanation from jockey E. Wilkinson in respect of the tactics he adopted on MEET GEORGE, which resulted in the gelding settling in a forward position which was in contrast to its customary racing pattern. E. Wilkinson stated that MEET GEORGE began very well and he was obliged to ride the horse forward in the early stages with RIVER LAD so as to clear TRIPLE HONOUR, which was holding a position to the inside of RIVER LAD on the fence. E. Wilkinson added that he then attempted to settle MEET GEORGE however a short distance later GENERAL PURPLE progressed to his outside and MEET GEORGE commenced to race fiercely, and despite his efforts refused to settle. He further stated that the horse continued to overrace through the middle stages which resulted in MEET GEORGE occupying the position outside the leader. Jockey Wilkinson added that he was firmly of the view that MEET GEORGE races best when able to gain cover. After viewing the stewards patrol footage, E. Wilkinson’s explanation was accepted.

Race 8: Channel Seven Colts, Geldings and Entires NMW H'cap - 1200m
1st – Altai Warrior 2nd – My Quilter 3rd – Tomcatnaround 4th – Vintage Moss

Following an application by trainer B. Laming, COUP RAYVAN was declared a late scratching at 2.40 pm due to the upgrading of the track.

Near the 800m, VINTAGE MOSS (A. Pattillo) was tightened for room by KALBO (A. Allen), which shifted in. As a result, VINTAGE MOSS was severely crowded for several strides between KALBO and MASTER FIBBA (M. Radecker).

Passing the 600m, HEADHUNTER (C. Pye) improved up on to the heels of MASTER FIBBA (M. Radecker) and had to be steadied.

Rounding the home turn, BUTTIDO (M. Hellyer) was held up for a short distance on the heels of the tiring MASTER FIBBA.

Near the 300m, MASTER FIBBA, which was weakening, had to be steadied when tightened for room between BUTTIDO (M. Hellyer) and HEADHUNTER, which shifted in under pressure.

KALBO raced wide throughout.
