BUFFETT (P. Hammersley) hung out rounding the home turn and continued to do so when placed under pressure in the home straight.
A post race veterinary examination of DEACON revealed the gelding to have broken down in the off fore tendon. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for DEACON prior to its next race start.

Near the 1100m, FUSIL DE EVE contacted the running rail and lost ground when tightened for room by CONGO (G. Colless), which was taken in by MISHANI LADYHAWKE, which when overracing was also taken in by TRAKSTAR. When assessing this incident, stewards were of the view that the racing manners of MISHANI LADYHAWKE contributed to the incident, however R. McMahon, rider of TRAKSTAR, was issued with a severe reprimand and advised to ensure he provides his fellow riders with sufficient racing room in similar circumstances in future.
Approaching the 300m, LITA shifted out and bumped MISHANI STEALTH (B. Stewart).
MISHANI STEALTH hung in when placed under pressure over the final 200m.
ACCIDENTAL, TRAKSTAR, MISHANI LADYHAWKE and ANTARCTIC DREAM (T. Bell) raced wide throughout.
Stewards sought an explanation from L. Cassidy regarding the performance of MISHANI LADYHAWKE. Jockey L. Cassidy stated that after being slow to begin, the filly overraced in the early and middle stages and this had an effect on its ability to finish the race off. He attributed the filly’s racing manners to the significant step up in distance today.
Race 4: Retailquip Open H'cap - 1000m

LATIN NEWS (J. Lloyd) was slow to begin.
Near the 250m, HAIZUM (P. Hammersley) shifted out when placed under pressure and brushed THE JACKAL (G. Colless).
Jockey P. Hammersley was asked to explain the performance of HAIZUM. He stated that the gelding travelled well until placed under pressure in the early part of the straight and did not sprint as he expected from that point. Jockey Hammersley added that whilst the gelding’s best performances have been on rain affected surfaces, he was nevertheless disappointed with the effort of HAIZUM. Trainer T. Sears informed stewards that HAIZUM has suffered from a condition of tying up on occasions during its career and it was his intention to have blood tests carried out on the horse to determine if this would explain the horse’s performance today. Mr Sears undertook to advise stewards of the results of blood tests in the coming days. A post race veterinary examination of HAIZUM failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 5: Radford Electrical NMW H'cap - 1000m

MODERN AL (T. Harrison), CARLSON’S FELT (L. Cassidy) and HUSH POWER (C. Munce) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Jockey G. Colless, rider of CASSE SQARETTE, which performed poorly, informed stewards that the gelding travelled well and enjoyed a good passage just behind the leaders, and whilst he was forced to expose the horse earlier than he would have liked, CASSE SQARETTE only accelerated for a short distance in the straight before compounding badly. Trainer R. Hilton explained that the gelding may have felt the effects of a hard run at its most recent start, and indicated that gelding will now be sent for an immediate spell.
When asked to explain the performance of ERINSEA, jockey N. Perrett stated that from the wide barrier he was forced to race 4 wide until near the 600m, at which stage he shifted back to the rail, however ERINSEA was unable to finish the race off. He added that he was not comfortable with the mare’s action in the early and middle stages. Trainer B. Dodson advised that ERINSEA will now be sent for an immediate spell, also adding that he observed that the saddle had shifted back when ERINSEA returned to scale.
A post race veterinary examination of FLEET RIANE revealed the mare to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Stable representative for trainer B. Smith was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance, the results of an ECG examination and that FLEET RIANE must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.

FLYING JET (L. Cassdy) shifted out at the start and made contact with HYDE PARK (B. Richardson).
After passing the 600m, FLYING JET shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of TRISKELE (M. Cahill). As a result, TRISKELE got turned inwards, which resulted in FLYING JET having to be eased when tightened for room between TRISKELE and SOLEBID (M. Hellyer), which also shifted out slightly.
In the early stages of the home straight, HYDE PARK had difficulty obtaining clear running, and after passing the 200m was obliged to alter course to the inside the heels of BY CHOICE (R. McMahon) in order to improve.
CHORAL (T. Harrison) raced 3 wide throughout.
An explanation was sought from rider J. Lloyd regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of GOLDEN CASH. J. Lloyd stated that whilst the early speed was genuine, the horse travelled well in the middle stages and he was confident that it would accelerate when given the opportunity in the straight, however when GOLDEN CASH secured clear running just inside the 300m and was tested, the horse was immediately under pressure and its head carriage was unusually high over the concluding stages when tiring. A post race veterinary examination of GOLD CASH failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer M. Dunn will be interviewed regarding the horse’s performance in the coming days.
C. Munce, rider of FAVELA STAR, which compounded over the concluding stages, reported that the horse travelled quite comfortably until a point near the 600m, at which stage it was immediately under pressure, and after accelerating for a short distance in the home straight, compounded quite badly and proved disappointing. Trainer L. Birchley will be interviewed regarding the horse’s performance in the coming days.
