Race 1: Tennis Bribane QTIS 2yo H'cap - 1000m
1st – Sister Magic 2nd – Flying Riddle 3rd – Choose A Saga 4th – Echo Berry

TRANSPIRE (M. Cahill), SLAINTE (C. Munce), SWIFT AND SASSY (J. Byrne) and MORE THAN NOBLE (D. Browne) were slow to begin.

Near the 350m, ECHO BERRY (T. Harrison) blundered.

Near the 600m, SLAINTE became awkwardly placed at the heels of the tiring ASSERTIVE LOVE (R. McMahon) and had to be steadied.

Passing the 500m, SLAINTE again had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of FLYING RIDDLE.

Leaving the 250m, SISTER MAGIC (B. Richardson), which was racing greenly and laying in, faltered and shifted out, unbalancing its rider. SISTER MAGIC continued to race greenly under pressure in the straight.

ECHO BERRY (T. Harrison) was inclined to shift out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

C. McIver reported at scale that FLYING RIDDLE did not handle the prevailing track conditions today.

Race 2: The Duporth Tvern F&M H'cap - 1000m
1st – Golden Trinkets 2nd – Queenofbeaudesert 3rd – Cuddlesome 4th - Jasminka

Due to traffic delays, P. Hammersley was unable to fulfil his engagement on KARANJA and was replaced by C. Munce.

Apprentice B. Richardson was reprimanded for failing to produce her Winning Rides Book.

CUDDLESOME (A. Butler) was tightened for room at the start between MARTIKA (B. Richardson) and QUEENOFBEAUDESERT (J. Byrne), both of which shifted ground.

Approaching the 400m, ALLTHERIGHTMOVES (M. Speers), when attempting to secure clear running, shifted out, making contact with JASMINKA (L. Cassidy).

Leaving the 400m, KARANJA (C. Munce) shifted to the outside of QUEENOFBEAUDESERT to obtain clear running and in doing so placed MARTIKA (B. Richardson) in restricted room between his mount and LADY MONTEL (T. Bell) for a short distance.

M. Speers reported that ALLTHERIGHTMOVES blundered badly on jumping away, and then subsequently did not travel comfortably for him and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination of ALLTHERIGHMOVES revealed the mare to have mucas in its right nostril, and that a post race veterinary examination of KARANJA revealed it had been galloped on on the off foreleg and sustained a laceration to the back of that heel.

Apprentice A. Butler reported that CUDDLESOME was unable to accelerate in the slow conditions in the home straight.

M. Speers, rider of ALLTHERIGHTMOVES, was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

Race 3: Hervey Bay Hotel Benchmark 85 H'cap - 1830m
1st – Poste Restante 2nd – Dane Princess 3rd – Released 4th – Dodging Eddie

Connections advised that ON FACE VALUE would be ridden in a rearward position if possible. ON FACE VALUE was restrained at the start and then commenced to overrace and for this reason raced in a midfield position.

POSTE RESTANTE (M. Cahill) and RELEASED (L. Cassidy) were slow to begin.

MUSIC MAESTRO (J. Hoopert) overraced in the middle stages.

DODGING EDDIE (C. Munce) was momentarily held up for clear running passing the 200m before shifting out to gain clear running near the 150m and in doing so made contact with ON FACE VALUE, which shifted out and hampered SANTO DE LAGO (M. Speers).

R. McMahon, rider of RED GOD, reported that he was unable to obtain clear running for a major part of the home straight when awkwardly placed behind the heels of PUTYOURFAITHINME (E. Wilkinson).

When asked to explain his riding of DANE PRINCESS over the final 600m, P. Hammersley stated that after passing that point, RELEASED improved to his outside, which prevented him from improving his position wider on the track. He added that approaching the home turn, he moved into a one-wide position trailing OUR GOLD STASH, however that runner was immediately under pressure and did not take him into the race. This resulted in him being held up for clear running until passing the 200m when RELEASED shifted out slightly under pressure and he was able to improve to that runner’s inside.

Race 4: Brisbane International 1 MW H'cap - 1500m
1st – Merryanna 2nd – Marculoo 3rd – Sons Of God 4th – Crazy Mamma

Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer B. Baldwin regarding the late notification of rider for SIDE TO SIDE.

As L. Cassidy was overweight, R. McMahon was substituted as the rider of SIDE TO SIDE.

I GOT ONE (D. Browne) and SONS OF GOD (S. Galloway) were slow to begin.

MERRYANNA (T. Bell) overraced in the early stages, and BUSY DOIN’ NOTHIN’ (A. Mundy), which was following, also overraced for a short distance.

A. Mundy (BUSY DOIN’ NOTHIN’) was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift out approaching the 400m, resulting in SIDE TO SIDE (R. McMahon) having to be steadied when tightened for room between BUSY DOIN’ NOTHIN’ and HANGOVER HENRY (M. Cahill).

A. Mundy, rider of BUSY DOIN’ NOTHIN’, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that she permitted her mount to shift out near the 200m when not clear of MIMICS (J. Hoopert), resulting in MIMICS having to be checked. A. Mundy continued to allow BUSY DOIN’ NOTHIN’ to shift out, resulting in SIDE TO SIDE (R. McMahon) having to be steadied. SIDE TO SIDE then became unbalanced and laid in across the heels of BUSY DOIN’ NOTHIN’. A. Mundy was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 17 November, and to expire at midnight, 28 November.

P. Hammersley, rider of MARCULOO, reported that it was his intention to settle midfield, however after beginning well the mare was caught wide in the early part of the race and for this reason he elected to restrain towards the rear of the field in an attempt to obtain cover. He added that near the 1100m he had obtained cover trailing URNFIELD (K. Matheson) in a 3 wide position, but soon after, SIDE BY SIDE (R. McMahon), which was racing to his inside commenced to overrace and shifted out, taking him wider on the track, which again resulted in him having to restrain the mare to the rear of the field. He added that had he been able to settle in a midfield position with cover, he was of the opinion that MARCULOO would have challenged the winner.

SIDE BY SIDE was held up in the early part of the straight until the 200m.

SIDE BY SIDE, HANGOVER HENRY (M. Cahill) and URNFIELD (K. Matheson) raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 5: Beach House Bar & Grill Brisbane H'cap - 1600m
1st – Jet Style 2nd – Biggles 3rd – Mr Light Blue 4th – Pepperwood

COUNT ENCOSTA (M. Cahill) was tightened for room at the start between KIEV (P. Hammersley) and MR LIGHT BLUE (J. Byrne), which jumped away awkwardly and shifted out.

Near the 1200m, PREACHER BOY (T. Harrison) had to be steadied from the heels of BIGGLES (T. Bell), which shifted in when not quite clear. T. Bell, rider of BIGGLES, was advised to provide greater clearance to his fellow riders in future.

After passing the 1100m, PREACHER BOY when overracing shifted to the outside of the heels of BIGGLES, which resulted in KIEV (P. Hammersley) being taken wider on the track. KIEV raced 3 wide from that point.

SHEZAHOTSHOT (K. Matheson) overraced in the early stages and hung in near the 1200m, making contact with FIFTEEN CARAT (J. Taylor).

Rounding the home turn, FIFTEEN CARAT shifted out when attempting to improve and in doing so came into contact with SHEZAHOTSHOT. This resulted in both horses buffeting on a number of occasions and becoming unbalanced.

SHEZAHOTSHOT raced 3 wide for a major part of the race.

Race 6: Raw Group Hospitality H'cap - 2400m
1st – Rothera 2nd – King Utah 3rd – Trajet 4th - Buffett

MARKED was a late scratching at 12.45 pm and RUN ROYAL RUN at 1.10 due to the downgrading of the track.

Connections advised that ROTHERA would be ridden in a more forward position today. The horse was ridden accordingly.

As L. Cassidy was to be overweight, C. Munce was substituted as the rider of TRAJET. L. Cassidy was fined $200.

ZED MAN (G. Killen) and SAINT ENCOSTA (D. Browne) were slow to begin.

TRAJET (C. Munce) raced wide during the early stages before being ridden forward to take up a position outside the lead near the 1600m.

Approaching the 600m, ROTHERA (S. Galloway), when attempting to shift out to obtain clear running, made contact with KING UTAH (M. Cahill).

Leaving the 600m when M. Cahill placed KING UTAH (M. Cahill) under pressure it shifted outwards, taking ROSEWATER (J. Taylor) outwards. ROSEWATER continued to shift out, which resulted in BIG GIRLS DONT CRY (T. Bell), which was travelling back and to the outside, clipping the heels of ROSEWATER and blundering badly. BID SPOTTER (P. Hammesley), which was following, also had to be checked. Stewards did not feel that the actions of M. Cahill, rider of KING UTAH, and J. Taylor, rider of ROSEWATER, were careless in the circumstances and took no further action.

Race 7: Powerade Class 6 H'cap - 1300m
1st – Zamboni 2nd – Purettan 3rd – De Dozen 4th – Strike The Tiger

NOISY OCEAN was declared a late scratching at 11.45 am following storms and a downgrading of the track to Slow 7.

Jockeys P. Hammersley (REQUESTED) and M. Cahill (STRIKE THE TIGER) were reprimanded for failing to leave the jockeys room to fulfil their engagements.

FAST LOVER (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.

REQUESTED (P. Hammersley), which was fractious in the barriers, jumped in the air as the start was effected and lost ground.

LOCHIEL (K. Matheson) began awkwardly.

JUNGLE HEAT (S. Galloway) overraced during the early stages.

Near the 200m, LOCHIEL was tightened for room between JUNGLE HEAT (S. Galloway) and PURETTAN (A. Butler), which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

STRIKE THE TIGER (M. Cahill) raced wide for the majority of the race.

LOCHIEL, PURETTAN and ZAMBONI (C. Munce) raced wide for the majority of the race.

J. Byrne, rider of FAST LOVER, reported that his mount, which compounded in the home straight to be beaten by a considerable margin, was making an abnormal respiratory noise during the latter stages of the race. A post race veterinary examination of FAST LOVER failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer M. Nolan undertook to provide stewards with the results of an endoscopic examination he would have carried out on the horse.

Race 8: Mount Franklin QTIS 3yo H'cap - 1200m
1st – Lucky Hussler 2nd – Sookie 3rd – Mishani Stealth 4th – Dansal

SALUTER (12.43 pm), SEEKING MORE (1.20 pm), SUNSET AFFAIR (12.55 pm) were declared a late scratchings at following storms and a downgrading of the track to Slow 7.

HARLEQUIN’S GOLD (L. Cassidy) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with the hind quarters of GIBBERER (M. Cahill).

Shortly after the start, LUCKY HUSSLER (P. Hammersley) shifted in and bumped MAC’S ADDICTION.

DANSAL (J. Taylor) was restrained from the wide barrier at the start to obtain a position closer to the rail.

After passing the 1100m, REGULAR (J. Byrne), which was overracing, had to be momentarily steadied from the heels of MISHANI STEALTH (A. Butler), which shifted in.

After passing the 1000m, SUBSTATION (S. Galloway) commenced to overrace and for some distance approaching and passin the 800m raced ungenerously when being steadied from the heels of DANSAL (J. Taylor).
