GENERAL
As L. Morrison was injured, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 1: NATIONAL TRANSPORT INSURANCE MAIDEN H’CAP - 2225m
Correct weight was delayed to afford M. Cahill, the rider of 2nd placegetter HOT BICKIES, the opportunity of viewing the stewards’ patrol footage near the 800m to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner RUNDLE HEIGHTS (D. Browne). After viewing the film jockey Cahill indicated that he did not wish to proceed with an objection and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.
KING OF FLORENCE (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.

Near the 1000m RUNDLE HEIGHTS shifted in and brushed HOT BICKIES (M. Cahill).
P. Hammersley reported that PRICKLY BALLROOM failed to travel comfortably at any stage in the race and in his view was disappointing. Jockey Hammersley stated that he had recommended to connections that blinkers be added to the filly’s gear at its next start. SHE’S FIRED UP (A. Spinks) hung out in the middle stages.
Stewards afforded G. Colless the opportunity to comment on the performance of PANDORO DE LAGO. Jockey Colless stated that although he was obliged to pressure the horse in the early stages more than he would have liked in order to obtain a position outside the lead, he was satisfied with how the horse travelled in the middle stages, however when placed under pressure in the home straight, PANDORO DE LAGO shortened stride quickly and was very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of PANDORO DE LAGO failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer M. Dunn advised that the mare will undergo Caslick’s surgery prior to it racing again.

CARESSABLE ONE (J. Byrne) was held up and unable to improve between the 350m and the 250m.
P. Hammersley was unable to explain the disappointing performance of ALDINI other than that the gelding may have been anchored by the impost of 59kg. Mr Rex Kelly, representing trainer David Kelly, said the current racing preparation of ALDINI will be reviewed in the coming days and he undertook to report to stewards anything that comes to light that may explain today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination of ALDINI revealed no abnormalities.
