SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

As G. Colless was indisposed and L. Tarrant unable to fulfil his engagement on Glove in Race 7 due to engagements at the Sunshine Coast, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Fitton Insurance Brokers Class 6 H'cap - 2200m

ESCOFFIER (T. Harrison) made the crossing at the 1800m awkwardly.

ROMEO LAD (M. Hellyer) overraced in the early and middle stages and after the 1000m was allowed to stride forward and race outside the leader.

MAGIC IVY (A. Allen) overraced in the early stages.

R. Wiggins, rider of RHETORIC, dropped his whip near the 150m.

MAGIC IVY was momentarily held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.

E. Wilkinson was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the disappointing performance of EXCELLENT AL.

Race 2: Magic Millions 2yo Sale F&M H'cap - 1200m

PURE PURRFECTION (R. Wiggins) and AMALFI DREAMS (M. Hellyer) both jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Approaching the 600m, DANSAL (T. Harrison) improved up on to the heels of WALK WTH ATTITUDE (C. Munce) and shifted out slightly. PURE PURRFECTION, which was following, improved into a run between WRITE CHEEK (L. Cassidy) and DANSAL (T. Harrison) where there was insufficient room and as a result had to be steadied.

Race 3: Thoroughred Breeders Qld Open H'cap - 1300m

As R. McMahon was to be overweight, B. El-Issa was substituted as the rider of ESSINGTON. R. McMahon was fined $200.

METALLURGICAL (R. Wiggins) overraced in the early and middle stages.

C. Munce reported that DIVINE CITY raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and weakened in the home straight and passing the finish line made an abnormal respiratory noise. He was of the view that the mare may have got its tongue over the bit during the race. A post race veterinary examination of DIVINE CITY failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

L. Cassidy reported that LISTEN SON did not muster its customary early speed and he had to make use of the gelding in the early stages to cross to obtain the lead near the 1000m.

Stewards sought an explanation from apprentice J. Johnson regarding the reason for FUNTANTES racing 4 wide from the 1000m after beginning from barrier 2. Apprentice Johnson stated that the mare settled well after travelling a short distance to the outside of DIVINE CITY, however when LISTEN SON crossed to the lead near the 1000m, MISHANI WARRIOR (A. Allen) shifted to the outside of the heels of that runner, which resulted in DIVINE CITY, which was overracing, being forced 3 wide and FUNTANTES forced 4 wide as a consequence. She added that she did not attempt to ride forward to clear DIVINE CITY or alternatively restrain to take a trail on that runner as she was of the opinion that DIVINE CITY would shift back inwards to the one-wide line. She further stated that DIVINE CITY was unable to shift back in at that point when ESSINGTON improved to its inside. FUNTANTES was then obliged to race 4 wide throughout. Stewards accepted the explanation from apprentice Johnson.

Race 4: Eliza Park International Qld 1MW H'cap - 1800m

As R. McMahon was to be overweight, B. El-Issa was substituted as the rider of DE TRIOMPHE.

Apprentice G. Goold reported at scale that CASTLEMAGNE KING was inclined to lay in for a major part of the race and as a result he was unable to ride the gelding out over the final 300m in his normal manner.

When asked to explain the performance of BUSINESS DAY, K. Matheson stated that the mare never travelled comfortably at any stage throughout. G. Thompson, representing trainer J. Thomson was reprimanded for allowing the mare to leave the course prior to the prescribed time which prevented a veterinary examination being carried out.

Race 5: Banchory Thoroughbreds QTIS 3yo H'cap - 1000m

SCRAT was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers at the request of its rider and was cleared to race.

In the early part of the home straight, FRIENDLY DRAGON (M. Vance) improved onto the heels of HEZA BOBBY DAZZLER (C. Munce) and was obliged to shift to the inside of that runner in order to improve.

HEZA BOBBY DAZZLER raced wide without cover throughout.

PRUSSIAN HEART (K. Matheson) also raced wide throughout.

When questioned, C. Munce stated that HEZA BOBBY DAZZLER raced very greenly and, in his opinion, would be better suited to longer distances than that of today's event.

K. Matheson, rider of the 5th placegetter, PRUSSIAN HEART, reprimanded for failing to weigh in.

Race 6: Eureka Stud Class 6 H'cap - 1000m

LITTLE FAVOURS cast its off fore plate in the mounting yard and had to be replated by the club farrier.

JUST A PICCOLO (B. El-Issa) stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground.

WHITLAM (C. Munce) reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground.

WHO WILL (T. Harrison) raced 3 wide without cover.

A post race veterinary examination of DIAMOND TRAIL revealed the mare to have sustained a laceration to the medial off hind canon.

Race 7: Golden Archer @ Raheen Stud BM75 H'cap - 1400m

A request was made by trainer R. Heathcote to stewards to allow apprentice T. Harrison to ride BIG DECISION after 2 senior riders were unable to fulfil that engagement due to illness. In these particular circumstances, stewards acceded to his request and T. Harrison was confirmed as the rider of BIG DECISION.

FLING FUJI (C. Munce), LITTLE LONG HORN (G. Goold) and GLOVE (B. El-Issa) were slow to begin.

AMONUTE (A. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping the hind quarters of MANICERO (A. Holt), and then shifting in, making contact with FLYING FUJI.

PANIOLO (E. Wilkinson) hung out from the 800m and made the turn extremely wide.

In the early part of the home straight, DOMINI (M. Vance) was unable to secure clear running when awkwardly placed at the heels of FAULTLESS DANCER (J. Johnson).

Rider B. El-Issa reported that GLOVE was inclined to hang out in the early and middle stages, and when placed under pressure over the final 300m GLOVE hung in which resulted in him being unable to ride the mare out in his normal manner. B. El-Issa added that GLOVE did feel entirely in its action. Stewards will interview trainer G. Pollock regarding this matter.

For some distance between the 200 and 100m, BIG DECISION shifted in under pressure, resulting in FLYING FUJI being inconvenienced.

After passing the 200m, CASTING STONES (A. Allen) and GREY COUNTESS (K. Matheson) were attempting to improve between THEFIFTHHOLE (M. Hellyer) and LITTLE LONG HORN (G. Goold). Soon after, GREY COUNTESS shifted in under pressure, resulting in CASTING STONES having insufficient room to improve and shifted out from the heels of the tiring THEFIFTHHOLE, making heavy contact with the hind quarters of GREY COUNTESS and then shifting in, bumping heavily with THEFIFTHHOLE, which became unbalanced. Stewards advised K. Matheson, rider of GREY COUNTESS, to make a greater effort to keep his mounts on a straight course, and cautioned A. Allen, rider of CASTING STONES, for attempting to take a run where there was insufficient room, placing himself in a dangerous position at the heels of other runners.

PANIOLO and ARCTIC (R. McMahon) raced wide throughout.

Nearing the 200m, MANICERO (A. Holt) shifted in under pressure, resulting in POWERFUL JET (L. Cassidy), which was weakening, having to be steadied. A. Holt, rider of MANICERO, was issued with a reprimand and advised that he must make greater effort to stop riding and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances in future.

Race 8: Instruction @ Eliza Qld NMW H'cap - 1200m

Connections advised that GENERAL SHAREEF would be ridden midfield with cover if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

As K. Matheson was ill after riding in Race 7 and was unable to fulfill his engagement on FAST LOVER. As no rider was available to ride FAST LOVER, the gelding was declared a late scratching at 4.38 pm.

Approaching the 200m, QFIGHTER (T. Harrison) shifted out, taking MR THATCHER (A.Taylor) out on to RING ME RUBY (E. Wilkinson), which was inconvenienced. GENERAL SHAREEF (R. McMahon), which was following, had to be steadied from the heels of RING ME RUBY and alter course. Apprentice T. Harrison, rider of QFIGHTER, will be advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

Near the 150m, CHARSUI (G. Goold) had to be steadied when tightened for room by RED HOT DAZZLER (J. Johnson), which shifted in away from DR BARNARD.

JUST A PERLA (A Allen) was inclined to lay in over the final 100m under pressure, and passing the winning post made heavy contact with DR BARNARD (M. Vance).

ALL MY ANGELS (M. Helyer), ARADO (C. Munce) and GENERAL SHAREEF (R. McMahon) raced wide throughout.

B. El-Issa, rider of BEAUFORT GYRE, was cautioned for failing to ride his mount right out to the finish of the race.

A post race veterinary examination of RING ME RUBY, which performed disappointingly, revealed the mare to have a slower than normal recovery rate.

Apprentice A. Holt was questioned regarding the riding tactics he adopted on JABIRU DREAMING, which was restrained at the start from a wide barrier, which was in contrast to its most recent racing pattern. Apprentice Holt explained that he was instructed to take hold of the horse from the barrier and settle it at the rear of the field, and then remain to the inside from the 600m in an attempt to to save ground rounding the home turn. He further added that JABIRU DREAMING was disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer L. Ross, representing trainer P. Inwood, confirmed these instructions and was also disappointed with the failure of the horse to make ground when placed under pressure in the home straight. Stewards will interview trainer P. Inwood regarding the instructions given.
