SUPPLEMENTARY REORT

From SCTC, 26.1.14 – Race 4.

Trainer T. Whittington reported that an endoscopic examination and blood tests conducted on OBSESSIONS following the race revealed the gelding to be suffering from a virus. Mr Whittington advised that OBSESSIONS would now undergo a course of antibiotics before racing again.

Race 1: Yellowglen QTIS 3yo Fillies Maiden Plate – 1000m

MANHATTAN FLYER was declared a late scratching at 11.10 am on veterinary advice after being injured in the race day tie-up stall area.

HIPPOLYTA QUEEN (B. El-Issa), SUPPLY AND DELIVER (A. Allen) and SWEET SUGAR (M. Hellyer) were slow to begin.

NOT A SINGLEMOMENT (K. Matheson) began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with RED HOT MOTHER (R. Wiggins).

MADAME BOOKWORM (C. Schmidt) hung out in the early and middle stages.

MADAME BOOKWORM was held up for clear running from entering the home straight until approaching the 300m.

SWEET SUGAR laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.


Race 2: Sky International Maiden Plate - 1200m

IN BANGKOK, which reared over whilst parading in the mounting yard, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and also underwent a further examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start.

DEFINITELY BAY (P. Holmes) was slow to begin.

YAHUSHA (A. Spinks) began awkwardly and shifted out, taking SOUL POWERED (R. Ride) out on to IN BANGKOK (A. Allen), which blundered at the start.

SATIRICAL LASS (B. El-Issa) shifted in near the 1000m when insufficiently clear of AT THE PEAK (T. Bell), resulting in that horse having to be steadied. B. El-Issa, rider of SATIRICAL LASS, was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

TEARS (M. Cahill) laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Near the 250m, JUST THE SPIRIT (R. Wiggins) shifted out in order to improve and inconvenienced MARICATO (K. Matheson).

M. Cahill, rider of TEARS, dropped his whip approaching the 100m.

TEARS raced wide throughout.

A post race veterinary examination of IN BANGKOK failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 3: Winning Edge Presentations Maiden H'cap - 1500m

BURNING SAILS (A. Butler) began awkwardly and shifted out.

Near the 400m, SEONIA (R. Wiggins) shifted to the inside of ALAZANI (E. Wilkinson) in order to improve and continued to shift in, making heavy contact with the hind quarters of GOOD TWO DREAM (B. Appo) and became unbalanced.

Passing the 200m, PULSAR (B. El-Issa) shifted out under pressure, forcing SPOOKY BEACH (J. Johnson) and GOOD TWO DREAM wider.

Approaching the winning post, both SPOOKY BEACH (J. Johnson) and ALAZANI (E. Wilkinson) were tightened for room between BURNING SAILS (A. Butler) and SEONIA (R. Wiggins), which improved up on to the heels of JETEYE WARRIOR (T. Harrison) and shifted out. At a subsequent inquiry, R. Wiggins, rider of SEONIA, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

TALON LADY (C. Munce) and ZEROMIX (A. Hearn) raced wide for the majority of the race.

A post race veterinary examination of ONLINES, which raced uncompetitively, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer G. Blake will be advised that ONLINES will be barred from metropolitan racing until the horse shows improved form at country and provincial centres.


Race 4: XXXX Gold Class 5 H'cap - 1812m

TAKEOVER (T. Bell) and ACTING KING (R. Jamieson) were slow to begin.

STOP CRYING (M. Cahill) overraced in the early stages.

B. Stewart, rider of ONGOING VENTURE, was fined $200 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram over his allotted weight.


Race 5: Drumbeats @ Lyndhurst Class 3 H'cap – 1000m

PANDORA CHARM (T. Bell) began awkwardly and lost ground.

LE CAP (D. Browne) began awkwardly and shifted out, taking LITTLE BIT DITSY (M. Cahill) and DEVIL HEART (C. Munce) wider. In this incident, DEVIL HEART was eased when forced across the heels of TRESSLES (J. Johnson).

Near the 350m, DENISON (E. Wilkinson) was checked when tightened for room between BEACH BABE (J. Byrne), which shifted out slightly, and the THE CONSPIRATOR (K. Matheson), which laid in. K. Matheson, rider of THE CONSPIRATOR, was reprimanded and advised that he must make far greater attempts to keep his mounts straight.

BEACH BABE was held up for clear running from near the 300m until near the 150m, at which stage J. Byrne was obliged to shift BEACH BABE out in order to improve.


Race 6: WWW.BRC.COM.AU F&M Class 4 H'cap - 1300m

As Michael Palmer was indisposed, A. Spinks was substituted as the rider of MISS MEENA.

A FINE DROP OF RED (R. Wiggins) overraced in the early stages.

STRUTTER (C. Schmidt) raced wide throughout.





Race 7: Kirks CG&E Class 4 H'cap – 1300m

As R. Wiggins was to be overweight, J. Taylor was substituted as the rider of TAHOE CITY. R. Wiggins was fined $200.

ROCK THE PAC (A. Spinks) was slow to begin.

MUJAHU (J. Byrne) overraced in the early and middle stages.

ALBERT'S CHOICE (J. Johnson) shifted in under pressure over the final 100m, resulting in PLATINUM LION (M. Cahill) being inconvenienced near the 50m. J. Johnson, rider of ALBERT'S CHOICE, was reprimanded for this incident.

BATON TWIRLER (T. Bell) and TAHOE CITY (J. Taylor) raced wide throughout.



Race 8: Gallopers $1 Membership Class 3 H'cap - 1500m

MR HONOR (J. Taylor), EYE WINSOME (J. Morris) and RARE FRAGRANCE (B. Appo) were slow to begin.

FRAGEZEICHEN (G. Goold) shifted out at the start and hampered DOREBOY (B. El-Issa).

EYE WINSOME and QUIET COLLECT (A. Hearn) overraced in the early stages.

Near the 800m, when overracing, EYE WINSOME improved up on to the heels of QUIET COLLECT (A. Hearn) and was steadied as a consequence.

STUBOY (J. Johnson) hung out from a point leaving the 600m until on entering the home straight.

Passing the 450m, SIPPIN'BUNDY (T. Harrison) shifted out, forcing DOREBOY and RARE FRAGRANCE (B. Appo) wider on the track.
