JEB'S BOY (B. Evans) began awkwardly and lost ground.
LIPSTICK LADY (App T. Harrison) shifted out at the start making contact with SUZY'S BOY (G. Colless).
LIPSTICK LADY raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event.
Leaving the 600m KNIGHTWICK MANOR (B. El-Issa) hung out making contact with I AM BOSS (T. Bell) on a number of occasions, which in turn shifted out bumping CRAIGLEA MISSION (App A. Allen).
Approaching the 500m JEB'S BOY raced greenly and shifted out across the heels of HEART COMMAND (J. Taylor).
Near the 400m CRAIGLEA MISSION hung in having to be steadied from the heels of I AM BOSS.

RACING HEART (App A. Butler) overraced in the early and middle stages of the event.
CABALLO RAPIDO hung out under pressure over the final 50m.
Stewards questioned T. Bell regarding his riding tactics on SENTA DESERT particularly from the 400m. Jockey Bell stated he had been following STORM FABULADOR (J. Taylor) throughout the race and felt that the gelding was under pressure leaving the 800m and he elected to come to its outside approaching the home turn however, was then disappointed for a run between STORM FABULADOR, which shifted out away from the heels of RACING HEART and LEGSMAN, which was tiring. Jockey Bell added that in his opinion SENTA DESERT lost all momentum at that stage. When asked to explain as to why he did not attempt a run between LEGSMAN and CABALLO RAPIDO near the 200m he stated that throughout the race CABALLO RAPIDO had been shifting ground and as a result he was reluctant to improve into that run and he then elected to shift to the outside to balance the horse and give it an unimpeded run to the finish. Stewards noted his explanation.

On return to scale DOUBLE IMPACT was found to have bled from both nostrils during the event. As this was the first occasion DOUBLE IMPACT had suffered a bleeding attack and acting under the provisions of AR53A the gelding would now be banned from racing for a period of 3 months and must gallop over 1000m to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
A post race veterinary examination of THE SIXTIES revealed the gelding to have jarred up on today's surface.

C. Munce reported that in his opinion FLYING HOME was not suited to the firm track conditions today. A post race veterinary examination of FLYING HOME (C. Munce) revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer B. Baldwin will be interviewed regarding the gelding's performance today.
When questioned App A. Allen stated he was instructed to have JOPA in a handy position as the gelding was stepping up in distance to 1600m. App Allen added that after beginning well from a wide barrier he elected to ride forward and this resulted in him racing in a more forward position than he anticipated. A post race veterinary examination of JOPA revealed no significant abnormalities.
