GENERAL
As G. Colless was ill, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 1: QUEENSLAND BREEDERS TBQA QTIS 3YO H’CAP - 1600m
The start of this race was delayed when LIGHT 'N' SHADE had to be replated behind the barriers.
GRAPPA BRANDY – jumped away awkwardly.
ELJETEM – inclined to lay out approaching and rounding the home turn.
GOLDIES RETURN – raced three wide in the early stages.
TONGUE OF FIRE – hung out under pressure in the home straight.
Race 2: SIGNATURE REFINISH BM75 H’CAP - 2125m
Connections advised that LE HO FOOK would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. The horse settled midfield.
BACK TO ABILENE – slow to begin.
DENWOOD – raced three wide in the early stages.
DUSTY'S FELT – raced three wide throughout. Bumped near the 400m.
THAT SNOW ATHLETE – raced three wide throughout.
TERTIARY – became unbalanced when tightened for room near the 500m. Rider reported that the horse was under pressure after passing the 1000m, did not respond to his riding from that point, was disappointing and may not have run out a strong 2200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
MARKOUT – inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
TRUE PRINCE – lost its off fore plate in running.
LIFE PATROL – rider reported that the horse hung out badly over the final 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer advised the horse would be sent for a spell.
Race 3: AUSTACK PRODUCE & MITAVITE C,G&E CLASS 6 H’CAP - 1000m
DEL PALIO – reared at the start and lost ground.
EUPHONIC – hung out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Ineligible to race for 3 months. Must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward before being permitted to start again.
CRAIGLEA MASTA – raced three wide without cover throughout.
Race 4: GOLLAN RACING F&M CLASS 6 H’CAP - 1000m
RADIANT ANGEL – severely hampered at the start.
PRETTYFAMOUS – bumped near the 400m, became unbalanced.
MISS STASH – had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight until near the 250m.
IDLE CHAT – a post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off hind leg and sore over the rump. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for IDLE CHAT prior to its next start.
Race 5: NATIONAL JOCKEYS CELEBRATION DAY F&M NMW H’CAP - 1300m
Connections advised that SPEEDY SAM will be ridden back in the field if circumstances permit.
After weighing out, apprentice T. Wolfgram was stood down from remaining engagements by the Club doctor. Apprentice Wolfgram was instructed that he must provide a full medical clearance before riding again. Riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
The start of this race was delayed when ambulance officers were required to attend to apprentice T. Wolfgram.
SLOTS – slow to begin.
RICHENZA – bumped at the start. Restrained off heels near the 1100m.
COUNTRY COMMAND – bumped at the start.
GET ON – raced three wide throughout.
SPEEDY SAM – when caught very wide approaching the first turn was restrained to a rearward position to find a position closer to the rail.
KALANDULA – became unbalanced and struck the running rail near the 1000m. Rider reported at scale that he was disappointed with the mare's finishing efforts.
ROSSARITA – checked approaching the 400m.
ITCHINTOWIN – bumped on two occasions inside the final 100m.
ELLIE LA VIE – rider reported that his mount was inclined to lay out after leaving the 900m and then shifted back in approaching the home turn.
Race 6: RUSS MADDOCK MEMORIAL BM75 H’CAP - 1600m
KARANJA, which was fractious in the float, was examined on arrival at the track and passed fit to run.
PRIMARY COLOUR – hampered at the start. Had to be checked near the 700m when tightened for room.
OLD FEELING – had to be restrained from heels when overracing when the pace steadied near the 1100m. Forced wider approaching the 1000m and then raced three wide without cover for the remainder of the event.
WRITTEN ABOVE ALL – had to be restrained from heels when overracing when the pace steadied near the 1100m. Bumped near the 700m, shifted in slightly.
HORA SEXTA – raced three wide throughout. Bumped another runner near the 700m.
HOW FAIRDINKUM – had to be steadied near the 700m, shifted in and brushed the running rail, then shifted out.
TAIL AND ALL – hampered near the 100m.
SURFACE TENSION – inconvenienced near the 100m.
Race 7: DESLEIGH FORSTER RACING OPEN H’CAP - 1400m
ACHIEVEMENTS – underwent a veterinary inspection behind barriers and was cleared to start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer D. Hansen was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for ACHIEVEMENTS prior to its next start.
AQUATORIAL – slow to begin.
Race 8: GILL, GILBY & MUNDY MEMORIAL C,G&E NMW H’CAP - 1300m
The start of this race was delayed when ROMANARMA required farrier attention.
PIGGY BANK – slow to begin.
BIG DECISION – slow to begin. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
JACK'S BACK – raced three wide in the early stages.
SCARBOROUGH – overraced in the early stages.
PLUM BOB – raced three wide without cover throughout.
ACCIDENTAL – raced extremely wide without cover throughout.
CALL ME RUSTY – bumped by another runner near the 500m.
ALL TAKEN – bumped another runner rounding the home turn.
PASQUINEL – held up for clear running between the 200m and approaching the 100m.
LEWAULO – rider reported that he had to work hard in the early stages to cross from the wide barrier and once brushed by another runner rounding the home turn the gelding was immediately under pressure and weakened from that point. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from heat stress.
DEB'S HOPE – lost its off fore plate in running.
