GENERAL
Following the track downgrades during the day, stewards acceded to requests from a number of trainers to scratch their horses as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 1: TRADE COAST LEGAL F&M 0MW H’CAP - 1000m
On the way to the barriers SHEEZA MYZZILE threw its head and struck its rider in the face. On arrival at the barriers, R. Wiggins was examined by the medical officers and deemed fit to take his ride. As a result of this there was a delay to the start.
PRETTY FACE – Slow to begin. Restrained from heels at the 500m.
ONE IN ONE OUT – Slow to begin.
SEQUILLIAN - Shifted in near the 600m tightening the running of LONG LIVE LOVE and SHAPIN LADY. M. McGuren, rider of SEQUILLIAN was reprimanded.
CUT UP – Inconvenienced and taken wider at the 500m.
LILY MY GIRL – Crowded at the start.
Following the running of this race the track was downgraded to HEAVY 8 retrospective.
Race 2: CBS AIR CONDITIONING QTIS 3YO H’CAP - 1600m
ASTHECOURTCOMMANDS – Began awkwardly.
SLEEP TIGHT – Restrained from the wide gate.
BRADBURY'S GOLD – Rider A. Best pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that after leaving the 1300m he allowed his mount to shift in when not fully clear of SILVERENE, which had to be checked to avoid the heels of BRADBURY'S GOLD. A. Best's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, to commence at midnight on Sunday 24 August and expire at midnight on Friday 5 September 2014 Rider dropped his whip at the 50m.
ROBABANK – Restrained near the 200m when weakening and crowded slightly.
SILVERENE – Had to be checked to avoid heels after leaving the 1300m.
GRAPPA BRANDY – Slow to begin.
Following the running of this race the track was downgraded to HEAVY 9.
Race 3: SECUTOR SECURITIES CLASS 6 PLATE - 1600m
CASINO BENJO – Hung out from the 600m.
WIND WAND – Inconvenienced shortly after the start.
RED CENT – Slow to begin.
HARBOR SPRINGS – Slow to begin.
SYBIL ACTION – Overraced in the middle stages. Inconvenienced near the 600m.
TIRARRI – Overraced in the middle stages.
Following the running of Race 3 a number of riders who rode in this event expressed their ongoing concerns about deteriorating visibility they were experiencing. Following those submissions, stewards decided to declare that the remainder of the meeting be abandoned.
