GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following weight variations:
Race 5: SHOT OUT – J Orman 56.5kgs (+0.5kg) 
 
Due to miscommunication M Cahill was inadvertently notified as the rider on EXSIDEE in Race 4 when M Rodd was the declared rider.
 
As Apprentice J Franklin was to be overweight, Stewards permitted the following rider changes:
Race 5: App C Waddell
Race 7: App J Molloy
J Franklin was fined $300 under AR190(3) for accepting rides when overweight.  

 
 
 
Race 1: STRADBROKE SEASON ON SALE NOW MAIDEN HANDICAP  1200 M
 
SIR LEONIDAS – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FIND MY CALM – Rider J Molloy was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for use of the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.Rider J Molloy reported the filly was not comfortable racing to the inside of other runners throughout the race, and as a result was inclined to lay out between the 700m and entrance to the home straight.
 
TO WISH – Dropped its head as the start was effected and jumped away awkwardly. Rider J Orman reported it was not his intention to lead, however with blinkers on today and runners to the inside not showing expected speed, he took up the leading position. 
 
TAYCAN – Slow to begin.
 
VOCALS – Raced greenly for the majority of the event. At the request of trainer K Purdy, a post race veterinary examination showed signs of the horse having jarred up and was subsequently treated.
 
KELANOA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
 
Race 2: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP        1845 M
 
SEMAPHORE GIRL – After beginning awkwardly unable to muster speed in the early stages of the event.
 
KERMANTIC – Rider J Orman reported it was not his intention to lead, however; after beginning well and caught wide, he allowed the horse to stride and lead from the 1600m. He added the horse travelled comfortably in the run but failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the home straight and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
A BIG CHANCE – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
DISPUTED RIVER – From the wide barrier restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Rider J Bayliss was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have sustained abrasions to both hind bumpers.
 
FRENCH STEP – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages
 
LAWBREAKER – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
 
 
Race 3: MOUNT FRANKLIN QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE        1400 M
 
CRUSADER RAZOR – Change of tactics, worse than midfield with cover. Ridden accordingly.Rider J Orman was reprimanded under AR208(2)(b) for failing to weigh in on the gelding, when required(seventh placegetter).
 
DIVAKARA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MEAT PIE ARTIE – Raced wide in the early stages. Rider R Dolan reported after being caught wide early and when the pace of the race eased near the 800m, he allowed the horse to stride and race outside the leader from the 700m.
 
ULTIMATE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 500m raced tight between AUTUMN SONG and HATASU.
 
BERNICE'S SPIRIT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HATASU – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider D Thornton reported the horse raced keenly in the early and middle stages, and when placed under pressure in the home straight was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be showing signs of jarring up and also some tenderness in the near hind leg.
 
JUNGLE LAW – Near the 800m, when racing to the outside of MEAT PIE ARTIE, steadied to take up a position behind that gelding, after racing tight to the inside of BERNICE’S SPIRIT.Rider M Harley reported the horse raced flat.
 
ON THE VEUVE – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
Race 4: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M
 
EXSIDEE – Near the 300m shifted out under pressure and crowded STROMA MASTER, before being corrected. M Rodd reported the horse was inclined to race greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
RIDE FOR LUCK – Slow to begin.
 
STROMA ASTER – Jumped out at the start. Crowded near the 300m.
 
ADDITION – Crowded on jumping between runners.
 
ENTERPRISE DANCER – Jumped in at the start. Weakened from the 500m and eased down in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils for the first time and also to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia. Co-trainer M Hoysted was advised the horse would be stood down from racing under AR79 (4) for 3 months and must Officially Trial or jump out or gallop 1000m satisfactorily, in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again. In addition, ENTERPRISE DANCER would require a veterinary clearance, inclusive of a satisfactory ECG test, before again racing.
 
YOU'LL NEVER GUESS – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
 
 
 
Race 5: MAGIC MILLIONS MARCH CATALOGUE OUT NOW BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP        1200 M
 
ENABLER – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 1100m steadied from the heels of SHAPIN POWER, which was taken in by MA’S EPIC(App C Waddell), which shifted in before being corrected. App C Waddell, rider of MA’S EPIC was reminded of her obligations in similar circumstances. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHAPIN POWER – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight and from the 150m was eased down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. M Harley was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out fully to the end of the race, where possible.
 
IRISH MAUDIE – R Maloney was reminded of his obligations under AR131(b) to ride his mounts out fully to the end of the race, where possible.
 
IN BARCELONA – Raced wide in the early stages. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
 
 
Race 6: XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (4YO ONLY QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE)    1400 M
 
EXPRESSO LOVE – Apprentice Y Lewis was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip 7 times prior to 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
TWYFORD – Bumped at the start.
 
HILL BILLY FLYER – Jumped in at the start and bumped TWYFORD. Raced wide in the early stages before progressing forward to lead the event from the 800m.
 
TAVISTORM – Began awkwardly.
 
CRYMENOTEARS – Jumped in at the start and made heavy contact with the inside barrier partition, resulting in rider A Thompson becoming momentarily unbalanced. When racing keenly near the 800m, improved onto the heels of OCEAN ZAR and steadied.
 
 
 
 
Race 7: LADBROKES OWNERS INCENTIVE SCHEME BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP        1000 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 minutes to allow QAS staff to examine rider R Maloney who was struck in the face by his mount on the way to the gates.
 
ORLABENT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BRING ME KASH – Near the 700m, when laying out, steadied when inconvenienced by CAMPAI which shifted in when not fully clear. J Molloy, rider of CAMPAI, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MAXIMUM VORTEX – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice CJ Graham reported the horse did not appreciate todays track conditions which was confirmed by a post-race veterinary examination.
 
TIKKA READY – Slow to muster speed.Laid out under pressure in the home straight.A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small amount of blood in the mouth, consistent with having bitten its tongue.
 
SIR CARTER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
ON HOLD – On the way to the barriers, rider R Maloney was struck in the face by ON HOLD. R Maloney was examined by QAS staff and cleared to fulfill his engagement.
