STEWARDS REPORT – SATURDAY 26TH MAY, 2001

STEWARDS: G. WUST (CHAIRMAN), G. MCDONALD, G. SCOTT (CADET)

WEATHER: FINE TRACK: GOOD

GENERAL
Stewards conducted an inquiry into the bonafides of the training of the registered racehorse NEWFIELD following a report received by deputy steward Mr. G. McDonald. Subsequently licenced stablehand Mr. Matt Dendle was found to be in breach of AR175 (k) and pleaded guilty to a charge under LR85(a). The specifics being that for the proceeding 6-8 weeks he had been using the facilities of the Emerald Jockey club racecourse for the purpose of training NEWFIELD for racing when he was not the holder of an appropriate licence. Stewards suspended Mr. Dendle’s stablehand licence up to and including the 26th August, 2001 (3 months).

RACE 1 MAIDEN HCP. 1000 METRES (7 STARTERS): LARCOM HOPE was difficult to load.

At approximately the 800 metres MAJUBA JACK commenced to over race as LET’S ALIGHT was making ground to his outside and was subsequently eased by jockey B. Chatteris.

RACE 2 CLASS 6 HCP. 1000 METRES (7 STARTERS): HIGHLAND LADDIE was slow into stride.

At approximately the 200 metres NOT TOO VAIN shifted outwards and brushed RYDER.

No further racing incidents to report.

RACE 3 CLASS 2 HCP. 1100 METRES (6 STARTERS): BOY hung outwards until the 700 metres.

At approximately the 800 metre point BOY was steadied in an attempt to correct his waywardness.

RACE 4 OPEN HCP. 1300 METRES (6 STARTERS): At the start GANCIA SOVEREIGN was tightened between YAN YAN ALFIE and LONG LONG ROAD and lost ground.

RACE 5 CLASS 4 HCP.1300 METRES (6 STARTERS): No racing incidents to report.

BOOKMAKERS: Three (3) bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.
SWABBING: All winners were sent to be swabbed and the samples collected were forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
