EMERALD JOCKEY CLUB STEWARDS REPORT – SATURDAY 12/10/2002
STEWARDS PANEL: Mr G Wust (Chairman), Mr AG Mc Donald, Mr N Vagg
WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good.
GENERAL
As Jockey D Lloyd was indisposed for the day stewards permitted the following rider substitutions - Race 1. COIN COLLECTOR – D Simons, Race 3. DEMON JACK and Race 5. BRIDLE COUCHE - M Evans.
RACE 1: QTIS MAIDEN H'CAP - 1000 METRES (13 STARTERS)
PANALDER (E Hooper) was slow into stride. AT approx the 400 mtr point WHITORIA (M Lehman) had to be checked when travelling on the rails to the inside of PUISSANT (A Lane) and ORCHILLA (A Williams). It was established that PUISSANT and ORCHILLA had made brief contact which resulted in PUISSANT rolling inwards and tightening the running of PANLANDER. At approx the 100 mtr PANLANDER was obliged to check off the heels ORCHILLA and subsequently lost ground.
On return to scale Jockey M Evans wished to view the developed print to verify his semaphored third place. Also Jockey M Lehmann rider of fourth past the post WHITIORA lodged an objection against ORCHILLA (A Williams) being placed second past the post on the grounds of interference at firstly at approximately the 400 mtr point and again at 100 mtr point. After considering submissions from both riders, viewing patrol film footage and their own observations stewards were of the opinion that whilst the interference at the 400 mtrs could not be attributed to any particular rider, the interference suffered at the 100 mtrs was sufficient to upheld the objection of Jockey Lehmann. The semaphored placing’s were subsequently amended to 1st NOD OF APPROVAL, 2nd SCARLET STANZA, 3rd WHITIORA and 4th ORCHILLA.
Jockey A Williams was found guilty of a charge of careless riding ARR137a in that he allowed his mount ORCHILLA to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of WHITIORA at approx the 100 mtr point. As a result Jockey William’s licence to ride in races was suspended up to and including Saturday the 26th of October. 3 CRA meetings.
RACE 2: CQ NEWS CLASS 4 H'CAP - 1000 METRES (9 STARTERS)
MONT VUE DAWN (D Hutchins) and YAMASHITA (N Coyne) were slow to muster speed. Shortly after entering the course proper at approx the 800 mtr point LAIRY AZ (G Bell) shifted outwards marginally when taking a position on the rails. In doing so G bell was obliged to check off the heels of GRITTY (A Williams) was at the time shifting inwards to take a position in advance of LAIRY AZ. Stewards inquired into the incident and were of the opinion that the interference suffered could be attributed to both runners and took no further action.
RACE 3: WESFARMERS LANDMARK OPEN H'CAP - 1000 METRES (10 STARTERS)
GANCIA SOVEREIGN (D Simmons) was slow into stride. HAS IT ALL (G Bell) and SEAATTA (D Hutchins) came together on jumping.
