EMERALD JOCKEY CLUB STEWARDS REPORT – SATURDAY 08/03/2003


STEWARDS PANEL: Mr G Wust (Chairman), Mr A G McDonald

WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good.

GENERAL.
Following his riding commitments in race two jockey D Lloyd was examined by ambulance officials and subsequently stood down from the remainder of his commitments by stewards.
This resulted in the following riding changes.
Race 3 – STEGASAURUSES - D Jones
Race 4 – WOBBLY BOOT - C Beets

RACE 1: MAIDEN H'CAP - 1000 METRES (7 STARTERS)
BOLD REGAL (D Simmons) was slow into stride. Jockey L Nelson was reprimanded by stewards for allowing his mount SAFE AND SURE to shift inwards at approx the 850 mtr point which resulted in DAMDINI (App T Matheson) being dictated inwards which placed IMPERIAL LANDING (N Coyne) in restricted racing room. Jockey N Coyne was obliged to check his mount and lose his position in running.

RACE 2: OPEN H'CAP - 1000 METRES (10 STARTERS)
RHYDER (L Nelson) was slow into stride. LENIENCY (N Coyne) was eased down from the 600 mtrs and finished well out of contention. A post race veterinary inspection revealed that LENIENCY was suffering from respiratory distress and is required to provide a veterinary clearance prior to her next race start. Mr R Higgenbotham was fined $200.00 under the terms of Ar140A for presenting his two runners DESERT PHOENIX (NZ) and NAUTICAL MUNDA with their incorrect saddles.

RACE 3: CLASS 3 - 1100 METRES (11 STARTERS)
PEDRO’S PRIDE (A Lane) and OUR LAA DEE DA (App E Hooper) came together at the start.

RACE 4: CLASS 5 H'CAP - 1200 METRES (8 STARTERS)
WHIPSTICK (D Simmons) was slow away. No further incidents to report.

RACE 5: CLASS 2 H’CAP - 1300 METRES (6 STARTERS)
No racing incidents to report

SWABBING
Routine samples were taken from all winners and forwarded to the racing science centre for analysis.

Two Bookmakers fielded at the meet with no disputes to report
