Race 1: Girls Day Out September 5th Maiden Plate- 1000 metres
1st – NORTH OSSETIA 2nd - AMAROCCO SPECIAL 3rd - DAD’S BEST MATE 4th – ROYAL DEBUTANTE

SNIP OF RORY was declared a late scratching at 1.20pm due to no available rider being present to weight out. Prior to the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on SNIP OF RORY be refunded, and that all bets made with bookmakers be paid less the following deductions; 16 cents in the dollar win and 14 cents the place. Stewards established that Jockey M. Cullen was the declared rider for the first emergency and, at scratching declaration time when that runner was eliminated, was not confirmed for SNIP OF RORY and was of the opinion he was not required.

There was a delay to the start of this race of approximately 15 minutes and all subsequent races were affected.

Apprentice R. Cox claimed 1/2 kg on NORTH OSSENTIA.

HOT OPERA (App A Taylor) was slow to begin.

IN THE STUDY (M. Cant) jumped out onto GEE EYES REIGN (C. Beets)

AMAROCCO SPECIAL (R. Kirwan) jumped outwards onto FLYING JASPER (J. Kehoe). Shortly after the start, NORTH OSSETIA (App. R. Cox) shifted out slightly and AMAROCCO SPECIAL was steadied when tightened between NORTH OSSETIA and FLYING JASPER.

In the straight, NORTH OSSENTIA shifted out under pressure on a number of occasions. Apprentice R. Cox was unable to fully ride the gelding out, having to straighten on these occasions.

Race 2: Emerald 100 October 10th Class 6 Handicap- 1000 metres
1st - STRONG TEMPO 2nd - TWINJAR 3rd – CYCLONE GEORGE 4th – KISTADAN

Apprentice R. Cox weighted out half a kilogram over the allotted weight for NOTHIN’LEICA MINTO. Apprentice R. Cox was found guilty of failing to claim to his riding weight on NORTH OSSENTIA (Race 1) and NOTHIN’LEICA MINTO. App. R. Cox was fined $100.

CYCLONE GEORGE (A. Coome) jumped out onto NOTHIN’LEICA MINTO (App. R. Cox)

Race 3: XXXX Gold Class 2 Handicap- 1200 metres
1st - SPRINGBOK LAD 2nd – BILLY THE MOUNTAIN 3rd – TAYANSO 4th – HEZABURRABOY

Jockey L. Dillon was reprimanded for being dual engaged on PRANK CALLER and BILLY THE MOUNATAIN. Jockey M. Cullen was the substituted rider for BILLY THE MOUNTAIN.

When the start was effected, STRATLIN PARK (J. Kehoe) stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary inspection failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer N. Coyne was advised that STRATLIN PARK must compete satisfactorily in a barrier jump-out in front of Stewards prior to its next race start.

HEZABURRABOY (App. A. Taylor) jumped inwards making contact with STOMP THE YARD (R. Kerwin)
PRANK CALLER (L. Dillon) jumped out onto MIRANDIZE (R. Hall).

At approximately the 900 metres, TAYANSO (M. Cant) steadied from the heels of BILLY THE MOUNTAIN.

It was reported by the Club Veterinarian that HEZABURRABOY had bled from both nostrils. Trainer R. Higginbotham was advised that the gelding would now be barred under the provisions of AR 53A

At approximately the 1100 metres, PREMIER RESORT shifted out slightly and bumped DANZIG WARRIOR (M. Cullen).

At approximately the 200 metres, DIGGING DEEP (R. Kerwin) shifted out to obtain clear running, causing FLEET THE BONGO (R. Hall) to be steadied slightly.

From approximately the 150 metres, REVOLVA raced in restricted room to the inside of CELLULAR (D. Whitmore) and was held up and not unable to ridden out to the winning post. Jockey N. Patchett was advised to ensure he had sufficient racing room in future.
