Race 1: XXXX Maiden Plate- 1000 metres
1st – ONLY LOOKING 2nd – MONNAMEE 3rd – LORDLY 4th – HEARTS WILL

Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer D Schultz in relation to the late declaration of rider for DUST THERE (Race 1) and GYPSY STORM (Race 3)

Due to a miscommunication, Jockey S. Watkin was dually engaged. D. Whitmore was the replacement rider for DUST THERE.

MONNAMME (App C Pye) was difficult to load.

DEUX FEMMES (D. Philpot) was fractious in the barrier as the start was effected, began awkwardly and lost ground.

DUAN ALLIBAR (T O’Hara) lay in during the early stages of the race.

Near the 800 metres, DUST THERE (D Whitmore) hung out across the heels of DEUX FEMMES and continued to hang out for the remainder of the race.

Trainer D. Schultz was advised a warning would be placed on DUST THERE in regard to its poor performance.

Race 2: Jackson Painting Class B Handicap- 1000 metres
1st - PRINCESS VELLA 2nd – GEMMARS GIRL 3rd – MONASHEE EXPRESS 4th – GIVE IM ZA

Stewards declared MEGHANI a late scratching at 12.45pm due to no available rider.

BILLKAY (M. Cant) jumped out and PROFANITY (App B Richardson) was taken out onto WARRIOR DELLA SERA (D. Philpot) which was hampered.

Jockey M. Cant reported after the start, BILLKAY commenced to race ungenerously when restrained to obtain cover, and commenced to hang out, raced wide from this point and extremely wide around the home turn. Trainer A Johnson was advised that the gelding would be required to satisfactorily pass a barrier jump-out over 800 metres or more prior to its next race start.

PROFANITY and PENNY STERLING (T. O’Hara) raced wide throughout the race.

Race 3: Bi-Rite Electrical Class 5 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st – TAKE A STAND 2nd – LARRY’S SONG 3rd – PAGODA 4th – TOO CLUIE

Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer I Shaw in regard to the late declaration of rider for HOWATCH.

LARRY’S SONG broke away from its handler, dislodged the rider, and escaped the enclosure. On being captured, the gelding underwent a veterinary inspection. On arrival at the barriers, LARRY’S SONG underwent a further inspection by the vet and was cleared to take its place in the field.

At the start, MALA MALA (D. Whitmore) was tightened between LARRY’S SONG (App C Pye) and TOO CLUIE (M. Barnham) both of which had shifted ground.

Jockey Barnham reported that when TOO CLUIE shifted in at the start, the saddle shifted slightly and he was unbalanced throughout. TOO CLUIE was inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.

Race 4: Route 66 Motor Inn Maiden Plate - 1300 metres
1st –SUNDAYS GIRL 2nd – DARHILT 3rd – PEGUNNY CHIEF 4th – MARKOTO

FLASH CASANOVA (M. Cant) and DARHILT (M. Barnham) were slow to begin.

PEGUNNY CHIEF (App B. Richardson) jumped out onto SUNDAYS GIRL (App C Pye)

SUNDAYS GIRL over-raced in the early and middle stages.

Race 5: Jason Ross Earthmoving Class 3 Plate - 1300 metres
1st - IT’S ELEMENTARY 2nd – DONOSTIA 3rd - SHELDON 4th – SHOT BAR

Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer C Smith in regard to the late declaration of rider for FINE FINISH.

SHELDON (M. Barnham) was a little slow to begin.

TARANTARA (App K Cross) and POWER TO EXCEED (App B Richardson) were tightened between FINE FINISH (S Watkin) and DONOSTIA (D Philpot) which was taken out by IT’S ELEMANTARY (J. Oakes) which had jumped out.

DUMUZI (App C. Pye) jumped in onto JAMDIT and then shifted out and made contact with SHOT BAR (D. Whitmore)

MAGIC PEARL (T O’Hara) commenced to hang out near the 1200 metres, and when placed in restricted room near the 900 metres was steadied and lost ground. Jockey O’Hara reported the mare was inclined to hang out throughout.

Near the 900 metres, POWER TO EXCEED rolled in and tightening DONOSTIA which had to be steadied.

TARANTARA and FINE FINISH both raced wide throughout the race.

When questioned regarding the performance of DUMUZI, Apprentice C. Pye stated the gelding had taken up a good position and had travelled well throughout the race, however when placed under pressure near the 250 metres had failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. Trainer R. Meek stated the gelding had been restricted to light training since its previous start on 26 July, and was of the opinion that given the spacing of its runs and its training, the distance may not have been suitable at this stage of its preparation.

When questioned regarding the performance of POWER TO EXCEED, Apprentice B Richardson explained the gelding had raced flat and was of the opinion the gelding had failed to back up from its run on Tuesday at Mackay. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities; however observations were consistent with fatigue.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
