GENERAL

Stewards inquired into an alleged incident which involved Jockey J. Stephens and Jockey M. Barnham in the scales area following the running of Race 4. With no supporting evidence of the report, Stewards reminded both riders to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.

Race 1: Ensham Resources QTIS Maiden Plate - 1000 metres
1st – STARS ARE BORN 2nd – KIDANCHO’S DELIGHT 3rd – JUST READY 4th – ZANDER

JUST READY (C. Dixon), which was standing awkwardly in the barrier, reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

JUNGLE WOMAN (L. Dillon) was slow to begin.

KIDANCHO’S DELIGHT (M. Barnham), RUN WILLY RUN (J. Oakes) and
ALLBARTHESHOUTING (N. Patchett) raced wide throughout the race.

Near the 250 metres, STARS ARE BORN (App S. McCullum) hung out slightly and took ALLBARTHESHOUTING out onto RUN WILLY RUN. STARS ARE BORN raced greenly in the straight.

Jockey A. Coome reported he was dislodged behind the barrier and sustained an injury when ULUI stood on his left foot. Jockey Coome fulfilled his remaining engagements.

Race 2: Pirtek Emerald Class 3 Plate - 1000 metres
1st – EXALTED MOLLIE 2nd - ONLY LOOKING 3rd - NERANGATANG 4th – DUMUZI

Near the 700 metres, CLASSY FRANKY was steadied when EYE SEEN (D. Philpot) shifted in slightly.

Race 3: Hot FM/ CQ News Open Handicap - 1200 metres
1st – ALBERT’S IMAGE 2nd – REIGNING TO WIN 3rd – ZASSI 4th – SEA DYNASTY

PRINCE LEO (C. Dixon) was a little slow to begin.

Near the 800 metres, ZASSI rolled in and LARRY’S SONG, which raced to its inside, was eased.

Over the concluding stages, ZASSI (R. Kerwin) shifted out under pressure and caused ALBERT’S IMAGE to be hampered.

Trainer C. Smith reported to Stewards that following its disappointing performance LARRY’S SONG would now be sent for a spell.

Stewards questioned Jockey C. Dixon in relation to the performance of PRINCE LEO. Jockey Dixon explained the gelding did not travel well, was placed under pressure to maintain its position throughout the race and did not respond to his riding. Stewards noted his explanations.

Stewards opened an inquiry into Jockey R. Bellert’s riding of REIGNING TO WIN over the concluding stages. After taking intial evidence from Jockey R. Bellert and viewing the available patrol films, Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date and time to be fixed.

Race 4: Aggreko Class B Handicap - 1300 metres
1st – JAMDIT 2nd – PROFANITY 3rd – SARBI 4th – BAYMORE

GLENARVY (C. Dixon) and MARAUDING HILL (J. Oakes) and LIBERTY’S MAGIC (S. Sheargold) were all slow to begin.

On jumping away, MONNAMEE (App C. Pye) blundered badly, and unbalanced its rider.
A post-race veterinary inspection did not reveal any significant abnormalities. Stewards will follow-up on the condition of the mare.

PROFANITY (App S McCullum) jumped in and made contact with FLASH OF KINTYRE (J. Stephens)

MARAUDING HILL and MONNAMEE raced wide throughout the race.

Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey J Oakes for the disappointing performance of MARAUDING HILL. Jockey Oakes stated the bridle was repositioned behind the barriers and while inspected prior to the start by a barrier attendant, he was of the opinion, the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit. He further explained the gelding had felt well during the race however had been inclined to hang out throughout. Stewards will follow up and report the condition of MARAUDING HILL.

Race 5: Epic Allsports Club/Woods Tyres Emerald 100 - 1850 metres

From approximately the 1200 metres, FOREVER MORE (M. Cant) improved 3 wide.

From approximately the 600 metres, PREACHER MAN (N. Patchett) and DASHING DOLL (D. Whitmore) improved wide on the track.
