STEWARDS PANEL: Mr J. Hackett; Mr C. McLune; Mr D. Aurisch; Mr M. Tutt (Cadet).

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD


GENERAL

Race 1: C. Eaton replaced D. Wheeler on ACADEMY KING when D. Wheeler failed to arrive on course. D. Wheeler will be interviewed at a suitable time as to his reason for failing to fulfil his engagements today.

Race 2: R. Morris replaced A. Raby on CHESTA'S KINGDOM due to A. Raby being ill.

Trainer P. Bell was fined $50 for failing to notify N. Jolly as the rider of both MADAM SEATTLE and MONTROSE BILL (Race 7), and R. Hancock as the rider of WESTMINSTER ABBEY (Race 5) within the prescribed time. At 10.20 a.m., N. Jolly reported that he was injured and was replaced on MADAM SEATTLE and MONTROSE BILL by A. Parramore.

Race 3: K. Pope was approved to replace K. Mahoney on ZAMBIENCE after K. Mahoney had sustained injuries in a fall at Gatton on 7 December.

Race 4: J. Walk was notified late as the rider of SUBJUDE. Following an explanation from trainer T. Webb, no action was taken.

As Y. Ota was ill, R. Pittman was substituted as the rider of LIKE HER STYLE.

N. Day was replaced by C. Kearney on DARREN'S PRIDE when N. Day reported he had a motor vehicle accident travelling to the course.

Race 6: As M. Rodd had accepted rides at Murwillumbah, D. Wheeler was substituted as the rider of OZZEL. R. Pittman was subsequently substituted for D. Wheeler who failed to arrive on course. Stewards will interview M. Rodd regarding this matter.

P. Spry was notified late as the rider of SHEER IMPULSE and DROP THE LOT (Race 8). Trainer L. Ross was fined $50.

Race 7: T. Muto was authorised to replace M. Rodd as the rider of CALL WAITING.

Race 8: J. Walk replaced the injured K. Mahoney on GRANDE ARROW.

C. Kearney was notified late as the rider for TRILOBITE. Trainer T. Harrison was fined $50.






RACE 1: ZANO BOLIC H'CAP - 800M.

IMPRESSIVE STYLE was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon prior to the start and passed fit to start.

MOUNTAIN YEATS proved difficult to load. Trainer T. Johnson was advised that a further barrier certificate must be obtained before the gelding will be permitted to race.

SHEMOOCHIE jumped awkwardly and shifted out, making heavy contact with ACADEMY KING.

HELLO COPPER was slow to begin.

NORMANDY LADY was inclined to race ungenerously in the early and middle stages.

MOUNTAIN YEATS shifted out when racing greenly near the 700m., hampering VATALIA.

IMPRESSIVE STYLE ran off making the home turn.

ACADEMY KING was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon following the race and he reported that the horse was lame in the nearside foreleg.


RACE 2: KELATO CORP ANIMAL HEALTH H'CAP - 800M.

SMOKEY COCHRANE, which was unable to be loaded, was withdrawn at 1.04 p.m. following advice from the starter. Subsequent to the event, stewards ordered all monies invested on SMOKEY COCHRANE be refunded, with deductions made in accordance with the Racing and Betting Act - i.e. 8 cents in the dollar on the face value win bets, 9 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Trainer J. Bennett was advised she would be required to produce a further barrier certificate for SMOKEY COCHRANE prior to its next race start.

LUSKIN LEIGH was slow to begin.

PETE'S PRIDE shifted out at the start, making contact LUSKIN LEIGH, which in turn shifted out and brushed ALWAYS AIM.

When racing greenly near the 700m., AURORA AUSTRALIS shifted in and made contact with CHESTA'S KINGDOM.

Rounding the home turn, LUSKIN LEIGH was momentarily held up for clear running

ALWAYS AIM made the crossing inside the 200m. awkwardly.


RACE 3: BETA CLAM & LOOSEN UP H'CAP - 800M.

CANWAYS was slow to begin.

GRAND CHEVAL was inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.
A. Gould was severely reprimanded for forcing a run where there was insufficient room inside the EUDANCE leaving the 100m..


RACE 4: SWELL DOWN H'CAP - 1200M.

Trainer T. Hall was fined $50 for failing to notify pacifiers had been removed from LIKE HER STYLE.

TILLSZOFF began awkwardly and lost considerable ground.

BE MY PRINCE was held up from rounding the home until inside the 100m..

Leaving the 200m., SUBJUDE shifted out to improve and made contact with GRAND HUNTER, forcing that horse onto INAMASK.

K. Pope, rider of the winner, PUFFNSTUFF, was fined $100 for flourishing his whip prior to the winning post. (AR 137(c).


RACE 5: JOHN BLANK H'CAP - 1200M.

DENINGS LANE had to be checked at the start when PISANI BAY shifted out abruptly.

Leaving the 1000m., CIRCUS BOY had to be eased to avoid the heels of PALATINO.

Passing the 800m., PALAZZIO shifted in momentarily tightening MISS MORLEY, OUT OF PARIS and WESTMINSTER ABBEY.



RACE 6: J.B. DRYNAN MEMORIAL H'CAP - 1200M.

SHININ BUCCANEER jumped awkwardly and lost ground at the start.

STAR MASTER also began awkwardly.

S. Shield, rider of GLITTERING AFFAIR, pleaded not guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in in the vicinity of the 300m. when not clear of OUR PROUD TIGER, causing that horse to be checked. The inquiry was adjourned at the request of S. Shield to 11.30 a.m. on Thursday, 14 December to the QPC stewards' offices.



RACE 7: KEY FORM & QUICK HEAL H'CAP - 1460M.

Approaching the first turn, CALL WAITING had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KWILA'S IMAGE, which shifted in.

On straightening, RAZZA shifted out to improve and in doing so forced MONTROSE out on to CARERA, which was inconvenienced. J. Walk, rider of RAZZA, was advised to exercise more care.

RACE 8: AMINO GLOSS H'CAP - 1460M.

TRILOBITE jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 1200m., RACY RHYMER had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GOLD FERN, which was taken in momentarily by CHIP IT IN. As a result of this tightening, both TRILOBITE and DEBBIE'S PRIDE, which were following, had to be checked. G. Lynch, rider of CHIP IT IN, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

TRUNCHEON was caught wide after the start and was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.

G. Lynch, rider of CHIP IT IN was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GRANDE ARROW near the 1000m., causing GRANDE ARROW to be tightened.

Rounding the home turn, TRILOBITE had to be checked when it struck the heels of SMOKE JENSEN which was tightened for room by SALANZA, which had to be checked off the heels of THE DON. At an inquiry, S. Shield, rider of THE DON, indicated that his mount also was checked as a resulkt of GRANDE ARROW having to be checked when racing between CHIP IT IN and DROP THE LOT. After hearing some evidence, the inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed to enable J. Walk (GRAND ARROW), P. Spry (DROP THE LOT) and G. Lynch (CHIP IT IN), who had left the course, to be present.
