WEATHER - FINE TRACK - FAST
RACE 1: CLUB CROCODILE RIDERS REWARD H'CAP - 1460M.
As A. Morrison was overweight, D. Griffin was substituted as the rider of SAHARA VICE and SAHARA ZOFF (Race 3). Subsequently A. Morrison pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 120(b), in that he was unable to make the allotted weight on his mounts in race 1 and 3, and his licence to ride in races was suspended from riding in races for a period of one week, to commence at midnight, 27 June, and to expire at midnight, 4 July 2001.
SAHARA VICE shifted out at the start, hampering AGAIN GAL, which in turn forced MIDNIGHT SONG wider on the track.
After leaving the 1200m., TOLGA DAN commenced to race fiercely and shifted in, hampering FAST AL. TOLGA DAN continued to overrace and approaching the 1000m., shifted in and made heavy contact with TEARS OF GOLD, which as a result shifted in and brushed the running rail.
RACE 2: SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.
HIT AND HOPE shifted in abruptly at the start, severely hampering SPRINGO. HIT AND HOPE continued to shift in despite the efforts of its rider, placing SEANNA, MELOIDIA and STEEL GHOST in restricted room for some distance.
Near the 1000m., DANIEL SAN became unbalanced when the colt attempted to jump a shadow. Shortly after passing the winning post, the colt shifted out abruptly, dislodging its rider, S. Katsidis. Trainer I. O'Neil was interviewed in relation to the racing manners of the DANIEL SAN and indicated to the stewards that the colt would be gelded and spelled, and undertook to stewards to barrier trial DANIEL SAN prior to its next race start.
After leaving the 600m.,MELOIDIA was held up for clear running and unable to improve until rounding the home turn.
MELOIDIA was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.
RACE 3: VALLEY OF THE LAKES H'CAP - 1200M.
As R. Morris was indisposed, R. Goltz was substituted as the rider of BRONZE CLASSIC and M. Smith-Lester as the rider of IRISH BEAU (Race 8).
ALICIAN jumped away awkwardly.
SHELLHARBOUR LADY reared as the start was effect, losing considering ground.
Approaching the 400m., GREAT SMILE shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so made heavy contact with HELL HATH NO FURY. A short distance later, HELL HATH NO FURY had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GREAT SMILE, which shifted out further. M. Smith-Lester, rider of GREAT SMILE, was reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
Rounding the home turn, ORIENTO had to be checked off the heels of ALFRESCO GIRL, which was taken in slightly by HELL HATH NO FURY. As stewards were of the view that ORIENTO played a role in this incident, no further action was taken.
RACE 4: THE MAYORS H'CAP - 800M.
Due to a clerical error, C. Whitely was not shown as the rider of STEELY DAWN.
SENSATE FOCUS, which was fractious in the stalls, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
MAASAI'S POST was slow to begin.
PLANET SIGN and REIGN FOREVER were hampered at the start between PICK ME UP and SENSATE FOCUS, both of which shifted ground.
MAASAI'S POST raced greenly and hung out making the home turn. Trainer S. Ludwig was advised that a warning was being placed on MAASAI'S POST in relation to its race manners.
DASHER'S GIRL had to be steadied off the heels of TAILLEVENT making the home turn.
Inside the final 100m., TAILLEVENT became unbalanced and blundered.
RACE 5: INROADS PTY LTD H'CAP - 800M.
Leaving the 700m., AURORA AUSTRALIS shifted in and made contact with SAHARA LOCH, which continued to lay in, resulting in MANDA PANDA and DROP THE TOP being tightened for room.
JOLLY'S LUCKY was forced to race wide throughout the event.
RACE 6: KING & CO ESK SHIRE CUP - 1200M.
MAJOR VICTORY was slow to begin.
SAHARA COVET, MR. CENTREFOLD and MAJOR VICTORY were held up for clear running rounding the home turn until after entering the straight.
RACE 7: AUSTRALIAN FOOD CORP SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.
MARCASITE was very slow to begin.
RED WASP jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
NOT ANOTHER shifted in at the start, briefly tightening GRANDE ARROW and NICTOM.
Near the 700m., when being steadied off the heels of QUEENS ARMS, GRANDE ARROW shifted out, forcing PETIT POUCET wider on the track.
RACE 8: SANDERSON WACHER PTY LTD - 1750M.
M. Tarrant, rider of FESTIVE DANCER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that shortly after passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of TOP MOVE, which in turn was taken in across the running of IRISH BEAU, resulting in IRISH BEAU striking heels and having to be checked. M. Tarrant was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings, to commence at midnight, 24 June, and to expire at midnight, 4 July 2001.
At the 1000m., KATIEANN raced in restricted room to the inside of TOP MOVE, which shifted in slightly.
KATIEANN was unable to obtain clear running from the 500m. until shortly after entering the straight.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
