WEATHER - FINE TRACK - DEAD/GOOD AT 10.20 A.M.
THE TRACK RATING WAS UPGRADED FROM DEAD TO GOOD AT 10.20 A.M.
RACE 1: BV MEATS H'CAP - 1200M.
Trainers K. Anderson (AL DANCER) and D. Wozencroft (TRACK SPECIALIST) were each fined $50 for failing to present their runners with the correct gear.
The starting time for this event was delayed 5 minutes due to the late arrival of the ambulance on course.
GRAND RIO jumped awkwardly and shifted in, hampering GHOSTLY TALE.
PRIVATE VIEWING commenced to hang in when tiring shortly after entering the straight. GHOSTLY TALE, which was following, was held up for some distance to avoid that runner.
After leaving the 100m., ZEDBISK was momentarily tightened for room between TRULY TRULY FAIR and ZIGEEDAR, which shifted out to avoid the heels of the tiring BELLE OF THE SEA.
RACE 2: WIVENHOE MOTEL H'CAP - 1200M.
JUST A SHANTIE was slow to begin.
DANCING UP A STORM and MARKET MAN made heavy contact on jumping away, resulting in MARKET MAN losing ground.
LANCHEE jumped away awkwardly, then was further hampered by KITTEN, which shifted out.
LANCHEE was inclined to pull hard in the early stages.
Approaching the 700m., VITAL ISSUE had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of JUST A SHANTIE, which shifted in. As a result, RAW RECRUIT, which was following, was forced wider on the track.
LANCHEE was held up after leaving the 600m. and was unable to obtain clear running until after entering the straight.
HAD A HUNCH was unable to improve rounding the home turn and as a result had to be steadied off the heels of the tiring ROSEBERTH ROAD.
KITTEN commenced to hang out shortly after entering the straight and did so for the remainder of the event.
RACE 3: LAKE SOMERSET H'CAP - 800M.
On return to scale a protest was lodged by D. Green, rider of the 2nd placegetter, LORD GEIGER, against GRAND HUNTER being declared the winner, alleging interference on the home turn. Whilst stewards established that GRANT HUNTER had hung in momentarily rounding the home turn, placing LORD GEIGER in restricted room, they were nevertheless not satisfied that the any interference suffered warranted a reversal of placings. The protest was therefore dismissed and Judge's placings confirmed.
TONGALEE was checked shortly after the start between ROCKET'S LAD, which shifted out slightly, and FOREIGN TOUCH, which was taken in by SAHARA VIVA.
After leaving the 600m., SAHARA VIVA became unbalanced as a result of LORD GEIGER shifting in and away from EXPRESS TRAIN. FOREIGN TOUCH, which was following, had to be steadied as a result.
EXPRESS TRAIN became unbalanced rounding the home turn, and shortly after entering the straight, shifted in made contact with the running rail. EXPRESS TRAIN then shied at the winning post. Trainer R. Maund was advised that a warning was being placed on EXPRESS TRAIN in relation to its racing manners.
RACE 4: LAKE WIVENHOE H'CAP - 800M.
Apprentice L. Morrison, rider of TASSLES, was reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift in approaching the 400m., resulting in PRINCESS STARBON having to be steadied. A short distance later, ROMAN COUNTY was inclined to shift in and away from TASSLES, resulting in SAIL THE WIND having to be steadied.
PROUD AND PRETTY and NOT ANOTHER were unable to obtain clear running after leaving the 200m...
RACE 5: LAKE PERSEVERANCE H'CAP - 1460M.
SOUTHHAMPTON ROSE jumped awkwardly, losing ground.
INDIGIT was slow to begin.
OUR DONNY BOY and QUEEN BISCAY were both severely hampered between ALRESCO GIRL and KICKEN HOPE, which shifted in abruptly.
Near the 1200m., SOUTHAMPTON ROSE shifted out on 2 occasions, making contact with the hind quarters of OUR DONNY BOY.
After passing the 600m., INDIGIT had to be steadied when attempting to take a run between MY COPPER and the tiring QUEEN BISCAY, which shifted in momentarily.
After leaving the 400m., KICKEN HOPE commenced to weaken badly and as a result shifted in and brushed CALL UP.
Near the 200m., CALL UP, when shifting out to improve, momentarily inconveniencing SOUTHAMPTON ROSE, which had commenced to weaken.
SOUTHAMPTON ROSE was obliged to race wide throughout the event.
L. Cronan was reprimanded for failing to weigh in 5th on SOUTHAMPTON ROSE.
RACE 6: VALLEY OF THE LAKES H'CAP - - 1460M.
M. Rice, rider of SCARLET ASTRON, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he allowed his mount to shift out under pressure approaching the home turn, resulting in LADY IMOLA being severely checked when taken out on to the hind quarters of SAHARA DOT. M. Rice was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings, to commence at midnight, 18 November, and to expire at midnight, 29 November 2001.
Approaching the 50m., WHO AM I was momentarily hampered between BROTHER LEO, which was inclined to lay in, and WIMBLEDON HERO, which changed stride and shifted out.
RACE 7: ESK SHIRE H'CAP - 1200M.
OUR SIAM was slow to begin.
RACE 8: ESK CO-OP H'CAP - 1200M.
M. Rice was fined $100 for failing to claim his full allowance on TIMELESS IMAGE.
TOODALOO was slow to begin.
SINNERS jumped awkwardly and shifted out, making heavy contact with the hind quarters of TIMELESS IMAGE.
RACE 9: ESK BAKERY & RESTAURANT H'CAP - 1750M.
Trainer D. Gollan was fined $25 for presenting BEAU FILS without blinkers.
LETAINE shifted out abruptly at the start, hampering YALLAH CITY.
G. Lynch, rider of IDRIS, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in momentarily leaving the 600m., resulting in PAT'S ORPHAN having to be steadied.
LETAINE, which bled during the event for the first time, will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
