WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD
RACE 1: LOWOOD H'CAP - 1460M.
Trainer R. Maund was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for BROWN CHARIOT by the prescribed time.
UNATTAINABLE stood flatfooted as the gates opened and lost considerable ground. Trainer B. Castles was advised that he would be required to produce a barrier certificate for the gelding prior to its next race start.
MACHTIG JOLUPUKKI was slow to begin.
J. Cook, rider of MODERN STYLE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 1200m. when insufficiently clear of HONKY TONK WOMAN, which in turn was taken in, causing CHOMOLUNGMA to be checked. J. Cook was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 9 meetings, to commence midnight, 22 June, and to expire at midnight, 6 July 2002.
At the 350m., UNATTAINABLE was held up for clear running behind HONKY TONK WOMAN.
Near the 300m., PRINCE ALBA shifted out and made contact with UNATTAINABLE.
UNATTAINABLE was then unable to obtain clear running until after passing the 50m..
PRINCE ALBA was unable to obtain clear running in the early stages of the straight.
RACE 2: TOOGOOLAWAH H'CAP - 1200M.
HEAVENLY HAZE was slow to begin.
PLANET SIGN jumped awkwardly and made contact with the hind quarters of ENCHANTING LASS.
Near the 1000m., DREAM TRAP had to be steadied to avoid the heels of TALOBILLA, which shifted in.
At the 900m., SAHARA NOBLE shifted in and made contact with BLAZING SHARI.
From after passing the 600m. until near the 300m., DREAM TRAP and ENCHANTING LASS raced in restricted room to the inside of SAHARA NOBLE. Apprentice R. Hurley, rider of SAHARA NOBLE, was reprimanded and advised to allow sufficient room for runners on his inside.
Near the 300m., DRAM TRAP and SAHAR NOBLE made heavy contact.
ENCHANTING LASS was unable to obtain clear running in the early stages of the straight.
BALLY BAZOOKA was unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages.
RACE 3: COUNCILLORS H'CAP - 800M.
SIR NARMI, THRILL ME, STRATHCONAN and CALL OF THE KNIGHT were all slow to begin.
Near the 600m., CALL OF THE KNIGHT had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BLAZABELLE, which shifted in abruptly after receiving contact from PEGGLES. A. Baker, rider of PEGGLES, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
Near the 300m., CALL OF THE KNIGHT shifted in and brushed the running rail, then shifted out.
After leaving the 200m., FOREIGN TOUCH shifted out abruptly when struck with the whip, resulting in R. Morris becoming unbalanced and losing the use of his near-side iron.
RACE 4: AGM SERVICES H'CAP - 800M.
Apprentice M. Rice was examined by the club's doctor after riding in race 2 and stood down from his remaining engagements. C. Eaton was substituted as the rider of MY ISABELLE and MR SCANDAL 'US (Race 6), and IRISH BUNNY (Race 7).
NEMOV was a late scratching at 8.10 a.m.. Trainer M. Standfield was fined $100.
Trainer K. Hill's explanation for the late scratching of MACHTIG ARAVATAMA at 11 a.m. was accepted..
Near the 500m., INTERIOR TRIM had to be checked to avoid the heels of PACIFIC MELODY,which was inclined to shift in and away from MY ISABELLE. COVET LOVE, which was following, had to be checked to avoid the heels of INTERIOR TRIM.
Rounding the home turn, SPUD had to be steadied to avoid the heels of COVET LOVE, which shifted out.
Near the 100m., PACIFIC MELODY had to be steadied to avoid the heels of COVET LOVE, which shifted in. L. Deguara, rider of COVET LOVE, was reprimanded and advised of her obligations to straighten her mounts when shifting ground.
RACE 5: FERNVALE SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.
PRINCESS ISIS was slow to begin.
Near the 1000m., STOP DREAMING and DANE BROGUE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BAZ ATTACK, which shifted in.
Approaching the 900m., DANU had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FASCINATIONS, which was taken in by BLACK ELAN, and near the 700m., when racing ungenerously, DANU again had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FACINATIONS, then near the 600m., had to steadied to avoid the heels of BAZ ATTACK. In this incident, DANE BROGUE, which was following, also had to be checked to avoid the heels of DANU.
After passing the 200m., BAZ ATTACK shifted out to improve and made heavy contact with FASCINATIONS.
Approaching the home turn, SOUTH WIND, which was racing greenly, shifted in and made heavy contact with the running rail.
G. Geran, rider of DANU, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 250m., he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of KARMA QUEST, which in turn shifted out, taking DANE BROGUE out on to BLACK ELAN, which was severely checked. In this incident, T. Ikenushi, rider of STOP DREAMING, which was following, clipped the heels of BLACK ELAN and was almost dislodged. G. Geran was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 10 meetings, to commence at midnight, 22 June, and to expire at midnight 7 July 2002.
RACE 6: FERNVALE SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.
Prior to correct weight being declared, A. Abrahams, rider of TONGUE LASHING, advised stewards that he was denied a fair start due to his barrier gates being slow to open. After viewing the head-on video of the start, stewards found that whilst TONGUE LASHING'S gates were marginally slow to open, they did not feel that this had materially affected the filly's chances in the race. TONGUE LASHING was therefore declared a runner.
Approaching the 700m., SANDY STAR had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BASIL'S BLUE, which shifted in. M. Dracos, rider of BASIL'S BLUE, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
Near the 600m., LUDLOW LAD had to be steadied off the heels of SANDY STAR.
RACE 7: KING & CO ESK SHIRE CUP - 1200M.
Trainer L. Madden was fined $25 for presenting ROCKET BALL late to the enclosure.
Permission was granted for CELESTIAL BEAT to be withdrawn at 8 a.m. when trainer L. Ross failed to scratched the gelding by the required time. As the emergency BANYAN BAY was denied a start in this event, Mr. L. Ross was fined $250.
RIVER AFFAIR shifted out at the start and made contact with MISTER OMEGA.
Near the 600m., IRISH BUNNY had to be steadied off the heels of LA SERANADE and shifted out, making contact with CEFFYL
MISTER OMEGA was obliged to race wide throughout the race.
RACE 8: MAYOR'S SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.
PHILP and NATTIE were slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, VIA DANTE had to be steadied off the heels of HOT CYMBAL, which shifted in.
Near the 1000m., HOT CYMBAL shifted out slightly and brushed JUST THE DROP, which shifted out abruptly, taking NATTIE out on to the heels of LAUREN EMILY. A short distance later, NATTIE clipped the heels of LAUREN EMILY and blundered.
JUST THE DROP hung out rounding the home turn.
Near the 300m., MILLY'S HAT shifted out to improve and made contact with the hind quarters of BRAVE ACTION, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
Over the concluding stages, BRAVE ACTION again was inclined to lay in under pressure.
A veterinary examination of NATTIE following the event revealed the colt to sustained lacerations to the near fore cannon and off hind leg.
RACE 9: ESK H'CAP - 1460M.
TEARDROP, which was bumped heavily by another runner behind the barriers, was declared a late scratching at 4.38 p.m. on veterinary advice. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on TEARDROP were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 17 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 15 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time.
DICEY LADY and NOBLE CRUISE made contact on jumping away.
RUSTY RANCH and HI DAD was slow to begin.
