WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD

RACE 1: BRISBANE BUS LINES PLATE (MAIDEN) – 800M

NEVER DUSTY was slow to jump and lost considerable ground.

PHYSICAL FORTUNE jumped away awkwardly. PHYSICAL FORTUNE was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.

Approaching the home turn MY BLUE JAE had to be steadied when SAMS ADVICE was taken in by MARKINGS. The rider of MARKINGS, Matthew Gray was reminded of his obligation that he must be clear when shifting ground.

RACE 2: WILSON HTM CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 800M

Approaching the 600 metres PETE’S PRIDE shifted in taking MIKEY’S RUBY in onto BILL THE BOATMAN which had a tendency to lay out and had to be steadied off the heels of MIKEY’S RUBY. BILL THE BOATMAN continued to hang out for the remainder of the event.

BILL THE BOATMAN bled from both nostrils on returning to the enclosure. As this was the second occasion on which the gelding had bled, it will incur a mandatory lifetime ban from racing.

RACE 3: HOTEL LA PLATE (MAIDEN) – 1460M

KITSCH was declared a late scratching at 2.35pm when the filly became cast in the barrier stalls. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on KITSCH were ordered to be refunded with deductions made in accordance with the Racing and Betting Act i.e. 27 cents in the dollars o the face of win bets, 19 cents in the dollar on the face of place bets applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time.

COURTLY JESTER jumped away awkwardly and shifted out and made contact with LUSKIN’S RISING.

Approaching the 600 metres MICK OR MICHAEL had to be checked when the tiring CYRIL’S DERBY shifted in despite the efforts of its rider and RODANZA shifted out to improve from behind the heels of LUSKIN’S RISING. Stewards did however remind apprentice Kerry-Ann Marsh of her obligations when shifting ground.

Approaching the 150 metres COURTLY JESTER shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider, taking CYRIL’S DERBY in onto BONNE PAL which resulted in MAGIC HAT and MISSY MOTH all being hampered.

A short distance later, MAGIC HAT was held up for clear running for some distance behind the tiring SPECIAL JEUNEY.

K. Marsh, the rider of RODANZA pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 100 metres she angled her mount out to improve when not clear of MICK OR MICHAEL, resulting in that horse having to be checked. K. Marsh’s licence to ride was suspended for a period of six (6) meetings to commence at midnight on Saturday 19 July and expire at midnight Wednesday 30 July, 2003.
