EWAN AMATEUR TURF CLUB Friday 26th September 2008.

Race 2: Stewards reminded Jockey S. Kaya (FANLITE and P. Cullen (TIFFY TUFFY) of their obligations in relation to being placed in and starting from the incorrect barriers. Starter Mr. R. Shegog was also advised that any discrepancy to or query of barrier order should be notified immediately to Stewards.

GENERAL: All riders were breath tested prior to weighing out for the Race 1.


Race 1: FLINTSTONES LANDSCAPE LAND CLASS A HANDICAP- 1000M
1st – FORWARD VISION 2nd - JULUKA 3rd – ERIS 4th - ADMIRAL’S SECRET

OVERWROUGHT (L Critoph) was slow into stride.

CRAZY BIRD (S. Kaya) hung out rounding the home turn.

Jockey S. Kaya was reprimanded regarding riding his mount (CRAZY BIRD) out to the end of the race. Stewards gave consideration to the racing manners of the mare in the early stages of the straight and that CRAZY BIRD was tiring over the concluding stages, however were of the belief Jockey Kaya’s efforts were below that expected of a senior jockey.

Jockey C. Eaton pleaded guilty and was fined $100 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.

Race 2: EWAN CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1000m.
1st - RUM TRIFLE 2nd - CELESTIAL LAD 3rd - SLUGGER 4th - FANLITE

ANCIENT STORM (G Auckram) hung in during the middle stages of the event.

At approximately the 700m, KUAI (M. Cullen) had to be eased from the heels of CELESTIAL LAD (P. Cullen) who had shifted in. Jockey P. Cullen was advised to exercise more care. KUAI raced ungenerously for a short distance afterwards.
Jockey P. Cullen reported CELESTIAL LAD slipped at approximately the 400m
At approximately the 100m, CELESTIAL LAD (P. Cullen) laid in, Jockey Cullen had to stop riding and straighten and placed at a disadvantage in riding the gelding out over the concluding stages.

Race 3: COOLALIE HOLDINGS EWAN MEMORIAL SHIELD OPEN HANDICAP- 1200m.
1st - SIERRA SLAMMER 2nd - EDGEWANA 3rd - BELLO GINO 4th - VICTORY BEAU

No incidents in running.

Race 4: HILLGROVE CLASS 2 HANDICAP- 1300m
1st - TIFFY TUFFY 2nd - TOLENTINO 3rd - MONOS 4th - MISS KEPPEL

TOLENTINO (S. Kaya) jumped in the air as the barriers opened, losing ground.

MISS KEPPEL (G Auckram) laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 5: LANDMARK LES MAYNE MEMORIAL EWAN CUP CLASS HANDICAP - 1600m.
1st - LEGAL PRINCE 2nd - BECQUEREL 3rd - ENERGIZER 4th - PLEASE TOMEETYA

PLEASE TOMEETYA (G. Lemos) and RUSHWOOD (L. Critoph) were both slow away.

RUSHWOOD raced wide for the majority of the event and finished a considerable distance from the remainder of the field. A subsequent veterinary examination failed to find any significant abnormalities.

Jockey C. Eaton reported she was of the opinion BELL PARTNERS may have got its tongue over the bit.
