Race 1: Zig Zag QTIS Added Stakes Maiden Plate – 800 Metres:
1st – Dawida Danseur 2nd – As Sweet As Candy 3rd – Cuplaprawns 4th – Such A Prince

CUPLAPRAWNS (T. Bannon) a little slow to begin.

SUCH A PRINCE (A. Merritt) raced wide throughout.

Race 2: Stockyard Class B Handicap - 800 metres:
1st – Tibooburra Glo 2nd – Youthful Jet 3rd – More Lips 4th – Free Lad / Leo’s Memory

YOWIE BOY (A. Merritt) knuckled on jumping and lost ground.

LEO’S MEMORY (D. Missen) was slow to begin.

MORE LIPS (J. Long) was slow to muster speed in the early stages.

LEO’S MEMORY raced wide throughout.

Upon returning to scale P. Cullen reported that FAIRLADY began to hang in leaving the 600m and continued to do so and as a result he was unable to fully test FAIRLADY in the straight. Trainer J. Barr was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of FAIRLADY.

Race 3: Townsville Apex Class 3 Handicap – 1000 metres:
1st – Persian Arrow 2nd – Any Good 3rd – Monzar 4th – Demos

DEMOS was presented to race without a tail chain. Trainer J. Barr advised stewards that the tail chain had been removed from the gelding’s approved racing gear prior to its previous start.

STAR REVUNDO (D. Missen) and LILCHAN (A. Coome) were both slow to begin.

Shortly after the start DEMOS (P. Cullen) blundered and lost ground.

ANY GOOD (J. Felix) raced wide throughout.

PERSIAN ARROW (A. Merritt) over-raced in the middle stages and had to be steadied from heels when held up rounding the home turn. PERSIAN ARROW then had a tendency to lay in, in the home straight.


Race 4: Mcdonald’s Townsville & Azkeen Industries Ewan Bracelet Open Handicap – 1000 metres:
1st – Repeat Offender 2nd – Canny Shuffle 3rd – Da Fazz 4th – Centgeorge

There were no racing incidents

Race 5: Sir Rupert Clarke Memorial Cattlemen’s Plate Class 5 Handicap – 1200 metres:
1st – Mad Music 2nd – Money Bunney 3rd – Pizzicato 4th – Manila Warrior

MR MARMAY (A. Coome) raced wide throughout.

STRAIGHT A STUDENT (J. Long) over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.

PIZZICATO (A. Merritt) took the turn near the 800m awkwardly and as a result shifted out making contact with MAD MUSIC (J. Felix).
