LOCKYER RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT THURS.6.12.01

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr C. Clifford (Chairman); Mr A. Reardon, Mr C. McLune, Mr G. Hargraves.

WEATHER - SHOWERY TRACK - GOOD


RACE 1: PEPPERS LOCKYER VALLEY H'CAP - 1600M.

Stewards permitted apprentice A. Morrison to ride PRIDE OF THE TURF without claiming any portion of his allowance as no claiming apprentice was on course.


RACE 2: TOOWOOMBA INSURANCE BROKERS H'CAP - 860M.

Upon application by trainer K. Kelly, stewards permitted A. Morrison to ride GROOVER without claiming any portion of his allowance.

Trainer C. Cousins was fined $25 for failing to notify the addition of a tongue tie to the gear of RIEL WALTZ.

THE MAROUBRA KID, which broke through the barriers prior to the start, was quickly restrained by its rider, examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

LORD GEIGER jumped outwards at the start, hampering THE MAROUBRA KID and ALTRICE.

CINNAMON SONG and RIEL WALTZ had to be checked shortly after the start when tightened for room between GROOVER and PLANET SIGN, which shifted out abruptly.

GROOVER shifted out near the 500m., inconveniencing THE MAROUBRA KID.

GROOVER hung in from after passing the 200m., resulting in A. Morrison being unable to fully test his mount. GROOVER then shifted in close to the finish line, bumping PLANET SIGN.


RACE 3: AP-PACK H'CAP - 860M.

RIO TAMBO was slow to begin.

ADVANCE GUARD was checked shortly after the start when tightened for room between CHADLIN and EXPECT A MIRACLE.

Approaching the 600m., CHADLIN had to be steadied off the heels of SAHARA VIVA, which shifted in.

After passing the 500m., STAY GOLD, which was racing ungenerously, shifted in abruptly, resulting in RIO TAMBO having to be steadied.

ST. EUGENE was inclined to shift out under pressure for the majority of the straight. Trainer L. Beilby was advised that a warning was being placed on the gelding regarding its racing manners.
RACE 4: L. G. MCCABE & CO H'CAP - 860M.
.
TASSLES jumped awkwardly.

NEMOV shifted out at the start and brushed FLIRT 'N' DANCE.

FLIRT 'N' DANCE ran wide making the home turn.

Passing the 100m., L. Morrison was obliged to momentarily stop riding TASSLES when MINT REGENT shifted in slightly under pressure.

DITTYDOO lost its off fore plate in running.


RACE 5: GATTON STAR H'CAP - 1100M.

OUR NOVA was slow to begin.

GLORIFIED GOFER was hampered shortly after the start by PERFORM, which shifted out.


RACE 6: REPCORD SKYDIVERS H'CAP - 1100M.

As apprentice A. Morrison was to be overweight, apprentice L. Meech was substituted as the rider of MILATTA. A. Morrison was fined the sum of $200.

Shortly after the start, COSMO DANCER and DASHER'S GIRL made contact.

MILATTA made the first turn awkwardly and ran wide.

After passing the 500m., DASHER'S GIRL was hampered between CARIBOO CREEK and COOL MAGI, which shifted in slightly.


RACE 7: RIVER 94.9 FM H'CAP - 1100M.

SLEEPY POET was hampered shortly after the start when tightened for room between THURSDAY'S POST and PRINCE NATHAN.


RACE 8: PARKRIDGE TAVERN H'CAP - 1400M.

Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for KIMJED by the prescribed time.

GANGSTER jumped awkwardly, losing ground.

Approaching the finishing line, TOUCH OF SANITY had to be steadied when tightened for room between KIMJED and GRANDE ARROW.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
