General:-
As J Warrington was indisposed the following riding changes were approved: Race 1. SHEERSAN – S Apthorpe; Race 2. MIGHTY FLASH – W J Cook.
Due to M Johnston failing to arrive on course, the following rider replacement was approved: Race 3. IT’S GRAND – C Schumacher
M Johnston will be interviewed as to his failure to arrive on course.
Race One:- Toyota Primus Specialists Maiden Plate (860m)
SHEERSAN, NEAT CURLS and KALINGA TASH were all slow to begin.
Near the 600m CHARICOOL shifted in making contact with KALINGA TASH and became unbalanced.
Jockey B Calkin was charged under AR 137a in that at a point near the 750m he allowed his mount PETITE FRAAR to shift in when insufficiently clear of EDINBURGH resulting in that runner losing its position, BATANGAS was also hampered in this incident. B Calkin was suspended for a period of 7 meetings to commence at midnight 28th March 2004 and to expire at midnight 11th April 2004.
Jockey B Calkin was further charged under 137a in that he allowed his mount PETITE FRAAR to shift in near the 700m when insufficiently clear of BATANGAS which had to be checked. PLAY BALL was also hampered in this incident. B Calkin was suspended for a period of eight meetings to be served concurrently and to commence at midnight 28th March 2004 and to expire at midnight 12th April 2004.
Race Two:- Ipswich Plant Suppliers Maiden Plate (1400m)
JAR JAR DANE which sustained a minor laceration prior to the event was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to race.
TURNIP, ADAMINABY and JAR JAR DANE were all slow to begin.
MIGHTY GRITTY and BAILEY ROSE both jumped away awkwardly.
ADAMINABY was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.
THE WINNER HABITUAL DANCER WAS SWABBED.
Race Three:- Gatton Motors Panel and Paint Class 3 Handicap (1400m)
BIG CAT NAP was slow to being and lost considerable ground. Trainer G Wilkins was advised that BIG CAT NAP would be required to obtain a barrier certificate prior to its next start.
OAKEY JEWEL was obliged to race wide throughout.
Shortly after entering the straight SANDALS had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between IT’S GRAND and PABLO’S PRINCESS which shifted out.
Jockey P Lindeberg pleaded guilty to a charged of AR 137a in that at a point near the 150m he allowed his mount OBRIGADO to shift in when insufficiently clear of MAJOR MACLEOD which was tightened onto the running rail and had to be severely checked. P Lindeberg was suspended for a period of seven meetings to commence at midnight 28th March 2004 and to expire at midnight 11th April 2004.
THE WINNER MY ANNUITY WAS SWABBED.
Race Four:- John O’Brien Toyota Handicap (1100m)
SUNDAE JESTER had to be steadied off the heels of RENOIRVISTA which shifted in leaving the 950m. Jockey M Smith-Lester was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear.
MUKANIC was briefly tightened over the concluding stages by SLEEPY POET which shifted ground under pressure.
Race Five:- Suncorp Class 1 Handicap (1100m)
Apprentice B Wade was fined $100 for failing to claim his full allowance.
GUS’S BEAUTY jumped out at the start taking CROWNED LADY out onto TRIPLE EBONY.
LITTLE CHIP jumped out at the start and made contact with SASGAL.
Shortly after LITTLE CHIP shifted out and away from QUICK BALL forcing SASGAL out onto the hindquarters of AEROLITO (NZ) and had to be checked.
As a result AEROLITO became unbalanced & lost ground.
THE WINNER GUS’S BEAUTY WAS SWABBED.
