SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reasons why Trainer M Lewis failed in his obligation to report that his horse “Great Southern Land” had bled from both nostrils after the running of Race 3 at Kilcoy “The Somerset Regional Council Class 3 Plate on 26-01-09. Mr Lewis subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 53A(2) in that he did fail to notify Stewards that his horse had bled from both nostrils. Mr Lewis was fined the sum of $300. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Mr Lewis’ good record and circumstances surrounding the incidents on the day.

RACE 1: PORTERS PLAINLANDS HOTEL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1400M –
1st –Double Royale 2nd –The Last Juror 3rd-Belclare 4th –La Majeur
ROBIN GOODFELLOW (B Thomson) was hampered at the start by GO GIRLY (S Bayliss) which jumped in.
KRYSTAL WINDS (J McKinnon) began awkwardly.
CENTENARY HIGHWAY (C Kearney), LA MAJEUR (L Appo) and KING ALI (Z Landry) were all slow to begin.
Approaching the 1100m, BELCLARE (S Drake) was forced to ease from the heels of CENTENARY HIGHWAY which shifted in.
KRYSTAL WINDS, AFFIDAVIT (S Kennedy) and ROBIN GOODFELOW all raced wide for the majority of the event.
A Post-race Veterinary Inspection of THE LAST JUROR revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the off fore fetlock. Trainer M Goodwin advised that THE LAST JUROR would now be sent for an immediate spell.
RACE 2: KEN HOOPER CLASS 1 H’CAP 1600M–
1st –Kilkenny Queen 2nd –Tuscany Affair 3rd –Stefenick 4th –Sarah Rose
Due to traffic delays jockey M Wood was unable to arrive on course in time to fulfil his engagement on STEFENICK. Jockey Wood was replaced by B Thomson.
DUBAI OASIS (J McKinnon) reared as the gates losing considerable ground. As a result of this incident the saddle of DUBAI OASIS shifted placing jockey McKinnon at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
TUSCANY AFFAIR (S Drake) was slow to begin.
STEFENICK (B Thomson) raced wide for the majority of the event.
A post-race Veterinary Inspection of TUSCANY AFFAIR revealed the gelding was suffering from possible colic. Trainer G Cross was advised that Tuscany AFFAIR would require a Veterinary Clearance prior to next start.
RACE 3: RPM RURAL CLASS 1 PLATE 1100M-
1st –Rib Tickler 2nd –Legal Floss 3rd –Runaway Fund 4th –Mind Star
Due to traffic delays jockey B Powell was unable to arrive on course in time to fulfil his engagement on ATWESTCO. Jockey Powell was replaced by S Apthorpe.
ATWESTCO (S Apthorpe) was tightened for room at the start between RIB TICKLER (L Appo) which jumped out and TELL THE FOREST (S Galvin) which jumped in.
DEE’S PRIDE (C Kearney) had a tendency to hang out for the majority of the event.
RACE 4: GATTON VIEW HOTEL CLASS 3 PLATE 1100M-
1st-Nutuzzi 2nd- REGAL Reason 3rd- Whispering Gypsy 4th- Extreme Danger
EXTREME DANGER (M Milford) and DANGER LINE (B Thomson) were both slow to begin.
REGAL REASON (K Kawagoe) began awkwardly.
ALLANACT (G Auckram) raced wide during the early stages.
Near the 550m, EXTREME DANGER commenced to over-race and was forced to ease from the heels of NUTUZZI (A Kitzon)
EXTREME DANGER was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
RACE 5: CITY PACIFIC FINANCE MAIDEN PLATE 1100M
1st-Frisk Me Quick 2nd-Amaizing Tom 3rd- Javakiska 4th-Macintyre River
R Connelly the trainer of KASHINI was fined $50 for presenting KASHINI in the incorrect gear.
MACINTYRE RIVER (L Appo), MISS OCCHILUPO (B Cornell) and KASHINI (S Apthorpe) were all hampered at the start by AMAIZING TOM (K Kawagoe) which jumped out.
ATALANTA STAR (C Kearney) and COME IN SPINNER (S Bayliss) made contact on jumping away.
Approaching the 600m, LAPTOP SHEZ (M Milford) was forced to ease when tightened for room by MACINTYRE RIVER (L Appo) which improved to the inside of KAMPARRA (S Drake) where there was doubtful room. Jockey Appo was advised to ensure there is sufficient racing room when attempting runs in similar circumstances.
Near the 300m, KASHINI (S Apthorpe) was hampered by FRISK ME QUICK (G Auckram) which shifted out when attempting to obtain clear running.
