GENERAL

As the photo finish equipment was not operational for todays meeting, all placing decisions and margins were confirmed using the stewards race patrol films.

Race 1: BURNETT CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS B’MARK 70 HCP 1000m

SINDIBAD (F. Elliott) and NOAH’S SMILE (B. Derbyshire) were both slow to begin.

Near the 700m, NOAH’S SMILE had to be steadied when EXECUTIVE OFFICER (L. Appo) shifted in. L. Appo was reprimanded for this incident.

Race 2: GRAND HOTEL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m

GRAND BATTLE (F. Elliott) was slow to begin.

AWESOME SMILE (C. Kearney) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Jockey S. Bayliss reported at scale that in his opinion PENDARIE would be better suited in races over a greater distance than todays event.

GRAND BATTLE raced extremely wide rounding the home turn.

Race 3: GOLDEN ORANGE HOTEL/MOTEL CLASS B HCP 1200m

KYEBLEAH (M. Crawford) and MACDYE (I. Coombes) were both hampered at the start between GRANDEUR KING (C. Kearney) and LADY OAKS (B. Derbyshire) which began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.

KING OF JACKS (L. Appo) and DAME JUDI (T. Brooker) were both slow to begin.

KING OF JACKS raced wide throughout the event.

Race 4: BROWNS CITRUS TRANSPORT OPEN HCP 1400m

At the arrival of the barriers, FAIR EXPECTATION underwent a veterinary examination, which revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind. Acting on that veterinary advice, stewards ordered the late withdrawal of FAIR EXPECTATION at 3.29pm. All monies invested on FAIR EXPECTATION were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters.

9 cents in the dollar for the win
12 cents in the dollar for all place

Trainer G. Popp was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for FAIR EXPECTATION before the gelding was permitted to race again.

JACK ‘N’ ME (L. Appo) was slow into stride.

Rounding the home turn PROSPCTOR BOB (F. Elliott) shifted out and forced JACK ‘N’ ME wider on the track.

Race 5: MC CITRUS CLASS 2 HCP 1400m

SPANISH SUN (M. Crawford) was slow to begin.

DOUBLE TOP (T. Brooker) raced 3 wide for the majority of the event.
