RACE 1 – YOUNG GUNS PLATE (MAIDEN – SET WEIGHTS) - 1,800 METRES
For some distance leaving the 1,600 metres a number of runners were crowded for room, they being, UNION BAY, SPECIAL D’OR, PRESIDENCY and KALA ROYAL as a result of SAY IT AGAIN shifting in when not quite clear. Shortly after this the pace of the race slackened and this resulted in UNION BAY being checked severely near the 1,400 metres. As the stewards were of the view that there were a number of contributing factors which caused the interference no direct action was taken, however, Ms. T KRUGER (SAY IT AGAIN) was issued with a reprimand for failing to sufficiently clear runners to her inside in the early stages.
JETTING AWAY raced wide throughout the race.
