GENERAL
From Gold Coast 22nd April, 2000
Trainer Mr K. Tinsley was fined $50.00 for failing to seek permission to remove the tongue tie from KIALOA which raced at the Gold Coast on the 22nd April, 2000.
As M. BENNETT was indisposed he was replaced by the following riders:-
Race 1 LA CENERENTOLA J. POLLARD
Race 3 FORMATIVE A. BAKER
Race 6 SWAPSEA M. TRAECEY
Race 7 KING’S CARREL T. DUCKETT
RACE 1 – YOUNG MEMBERS HANDICAP – 1200 METRES
Trainer Mr A. Edmonds was fined the sum of $25.00 for presenting GALLISSA with incorrect gear.
J. POLLARD (LA CENERENTOLA) was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1000 metres resulting in GALLISSA being tightened in onto SHIMMY SHAKE which had to be checked.
Near the 900 metres POETS became unbalanced and shifted away from YALLAH CITY resulting in WA WA NEE and FIE D’OR being tightened.
For some distance after this incident FIE D’OR was inclined to race ungenerously.
After passing the 400 metres NATIONAL TRAIL was checked and taken out onto the hind quarters of NORTRAM due to being tightened by LA CENERENTOLA, which was racing outside of RUBBLE. After considering evidence Stewards informed N. JOLLY (RUBBLE) that whilst they were satisfied that he may not have been fully responsible for shifting ground he was nonetheless reprimanded and advised of his obligations to exercise care in similar circumstances.
RACE 2 – LORD BEN HANDICAP – 1400 METRES
Trainer Mr P. Moody was fined $50.00 for failing to provide the document of description for MISSISSIPPI MOON.
At the start GOLDEN SUNSET was tightened between PENCOURT and JOANNA’S SCENT due to both horses shifting ground.
After leaving the 900 metres PENCOURT commenced to hang out and continued to hang out for some distance. CURLY SAM which was trailing was inconvenienced on occasions when PENCOURT hung out.
RACE 3 – NGAWYNI HANDICAP – 1400 METRES
Trainer Mr D. Sutton was fined $25.00 for presenting NEW SHOES with incorrect gear.
ABFAB EDINA jumped inwards at the start forcing FORMATIVE to make heavy contact with MARCEAU ROAD which lost ground.
CAMBIO and FULLY IMPORTED came together on jumping.
After leaving the 900 metres MARCEAU ROAD had to be checked to avoid the heels of FORMATIVE which shifted away from the rails when being steadied off the heels of CAMBIO.
After returning to scale G. KILLEN (CAMBIO) was examined by the Club’s Doctor after complaining of an injured ankle.
RACE 4 – SHAMROCK HANDICAP – 1800 METRES
ACTRESS GRACE jumped out at the start and brushed LIVE IN FAITH.
RACE 5 – OUR CAVALIER HANDICAP – 1200 METRES
MOTH BALL jumped away awkwardly and shifted out contacting the hind quarters of ROYAL SEA.
COURT COBAIN jumped out at the start hampering MINER’S UNION.
MOTH BALL jumped out at the start and made contact with ROYAL SEA.
After travelling a short distance MINER’S UNION and MOTH BALL were tightened between ROYAL SEA and COURT COBAIN when both horses shifted ground.
CLAYTON GOLD commenced to buck and raced ungenerously after travelling a short distance. Trainer L. Wheeler was advised that CLAYTON GOLD would be ineligible to race until competing in an official trial.
Approaching the 1000 metres COURT COBAIN shifted out and hampered MOTH BALL.
RACE 6 – AVITT HANDICAP – 1400 METRES
Stewards questioned the connections of JANE JETSON concerning the seemingly disappointing performance of the horse which finished near the rear of the field. Trainer J. Wallace’s representative Mr M. Potter stated he felt that the horse had to work hard early to gain the lead and it may not have been suited to the prevailing track conditions. Jockey A. BAKER was at a loss to explain the performance other than in his opinion the horse was raced under pressure before the home turn. A Veterinary examination of JANE JETSON was ordered and the Surgeon reported at the time of examination the horse was in a distressed state and its recovery slow. The connections of the horse were instructed to inform the Stewards of anything that may come to their attention in the following days which may have had an affect on the performance.
Jockey A. BAKER (JANE JETSON) was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 900 metres causing MADAME D’ALBRET and BOLD STEP to be tightened.
RACE 7 – COLOUR PAGE HANDICAP – 1400 METRES
Stewards approved a change of rider for KING’S CARREL from T. DUCKETT to N. JOLLY. After considering an explanation from Trainer G. Wehlow Stewards took no action.
After travelling a short distance KING’S CARREL shifted in causing DASVADUNYA and TABWA to be crowded.
A warning was issued to the connections of KING’S CARREL which shifted out abruptly near the finishing line.
T. HILL (DANCING AMORE) was reprimanded for failing to claim his full allowance.
RACE 8 – CARD SHARK HANDICAP – 1300 METRES
THOMAS JOHN jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 500 metres DONATA shifted in momentarily and hampered SERINSK.
Following the race G. DOUGHTY reported that DONATA failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
EIGHT WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
