WEATHER - FINE TRACK – GOOD
RAIL – Out 3M from the 1800M to the 1400M

GENERAL:
RACE 1: 92.5 GOLD FM H’CAP - 1800 M.
YOU SEE A STAR jumped out at the start and made contact with EAST HENDRED.
MIGHTY MERAH jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with KLAIRSON.
In the middle stages when the pace slackened YOU SEE A STAR, STRONG ROSE and MIGHTY MERAH all commenced to race fiercely.
Inside the 200 metres MIGHTY MERAH commenced to race greenly when tested with the whip.
Over the concluding stages MIGHTY MERAH shifted in and inconvenienced EAST HENDRED.
RACE 2: THE CLOCK HOTEL H’CAP - 900 M.
STERNER jumped out at the start and forced LORD TENNYSON wider on the track.
LORD TENNYSON was inclined to race greenly in the early stages.
LORD TENNYSON was inclined to lay in over the length of the straight which resulted in its rider being unable to fully test his mount out over the concluding stages.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BETTER DAYS M. Bennett advised that the filly had every chance in the race but when placed under pressure in the straight failed to respond to his riding. A postrace Veterinary examination of BETTER DAYS failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
RACE 3: GOLD COAST SUPERBOWL H’CAP - 1400M.
STRADIVARI jumped in at the start and crowded DEL BOY onto BANKERS MAGIC.
GABIETTE jumped away awkwardly and hampered FLEETWITH.
GABIETTE and DUEL FUEL both raced ungenerously in the early stages.
Rounding the home turn JUST MACCA shifted out and made contact with BANKERS MAGIC after racing up onto the heels of STRADIVARI.
App. A. Masters the rider of BOONGALA was only able to claim 1 of his 2 kilo allowance in this event. At the request of connections Stewards permitted App. A. Masters to fulfil his engagement but he was subsequently fined the sum of $50.00 for failing to claim his full allowance.
RACE 4: 90.9 SEA FM H’CAP - 1300M.
CANNY NORTHERNER, CHIEFODEON, BALEZE and MR SCANDAL’US were all severely crowded for room between CARAT OF GOLD which jumped in and HENRY THE OCTOPUS which jumped outwards. As a result of this tightening CHIEFODEON was checked by its rider.
GRANDWAY WARRIOR jumped away awkwardly.
At the 1200 metres and again at the 1100 metres HENRY THE OCTOPUS shifted in and hampered BAY OF PLENTY.
Rounding the first turn HENRY THE OCTOPUS had to be steadied after racing up onto the heels of YUKON STAR.
Inside the 1000 metres CHIEFODEON had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GRANDWAY WARRIOR which shifted in. G. Farrer the rider of GRANDWAY WARRIOR was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
Leaving the 600 metres CANNY NORTHERNER had to be steadied off the heels of BALEZE.
For some distance rounding the home turn BAY OF PLENTY was held up for clear running.
A postrace Veterinary examination of GRANDWAY WARRIOR revealed the gelding to be mildly shin sore in the off fore leg.
RACE 5: THE GRAND HOTEL H’CAP – 1200M.
Trainer P. Moody through his representative was fined the sum of $50.00 for the late notification of rider for MARZEE STAR.
Inside the 300 metres App. A. Master accidentally dropped his whip.
Approaching the 100 metres HE’S A TREASURE was held up for clear running behind the heels of NOTHIN’ LEICA ROSE.
RACE 6: SURF X CESS H'CAP - 1300M.
TELE SERIES was slow to begin.
BLACK TOP jumped in at the start and hampered BAA HA.
Approaching the 1000 metres when racing ungenerously KANANGA shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of BLACK TOP.
Rounding the first turn PEDRO’S GIRL shifted out and crowded RETSIL onto BLACK TOP.
Rounding the home turn METRO MAX was held up for clear running behind the heels of BAA HA.
Leaving the 400 metres BLACK TOP commenced to compound and had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of DEVIL which shifted in.
METRO MAX was held up for clear running for some distance in the home straight.
RACE 7: KIRRA BEACH HOTEL H'CAP - 1800M.
Approaching the first turn NARWHAL shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of A LOT OF CLASS.
Approaching the 700 metres POWER BY shifted out and became unbalanced after making heavy contact with A LOT OF CLASS. POWER BY then shifted back in resulting in CENTRAL BANKER having to be steadied to avoid that runner’s heels.
G. Birney the rider of SEAHAWK DANCER was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out inside the 100 metres resulting in CENTRAL BANKER having to be steadied.
G. Birney the rider of SEAHAWK DANCER pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that inside the final 50 metres he directed his mount out when insufficiently clear. This resulted in SELZNICK being taken out onto POWER BY which was in turn crowded onto A LOT OF CLASS resulting in that horse having to be checked after being forced across the heels of NARWHAL. G. Birney was suspended for a period of six(6) meetings to commence immediately and to expire midnight 7 July, 2002. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account G. Birney’s good race riding record.
RACE 8: CRESTA SMALLGOODS H'CAP - 1400M.
Trainer G. Heinrich was fined the sum of $50.00 for late notification of rider for CERTAIN BLITZ.
As R. Moses was indisposed due to illness he was replaced as the rider of CITI BLAZE by A. Gillett.
LYNCHIE jumped away awkwardly.
COTTAGE ROOF and OMAR KHAYYAM were both slow to begin.
Approaching the 1300 metres REBEL REBEL shifted in despite the efforts of its rider which resulted in ABUKUDA being momentarily crowded onto LYNCHIE.
Approaching the first turn REBEL REBEL commenced to race fiercely and shifted out. LYNCHIE which was following shifted out to avoid that runner and as a result made heavy contact with ABUKUDA on a number of occasions. Both runners became unbalanced in this incident.
OMAR KHAYYAM raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
Rounding the home turn LYNCHIE shifted to the outside of the heels of TRUE GRUNT to improve and in doing so made contact with ABUKUDA.
LYNCHIE and ABUKUDA again made contact on a number of occasions.
M. Bennett the rider of FREESPINS was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in approaching the 250 metres when not clear resulting in OMAR KHAYYAM having to be checked by its rider. As a consequence of having to be checked OMAR KHAYYAM then shifted in and hampered ABUKUDA and LYNCHIE. M. Bennett was suspended for a period of seven(7) meetings to commence 30 June, 2002 and to expire midnight 11 July, 2002.
Acting on a report from M. Williamson, the rider of ABUKUDA, Stewards adjourned an enquiry to establish whether the gelding had suffered a bleeding attack in this event.
ALL WINNERS AND BETTER DAYS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
