App. M Spriggs was fined the sum of $50 for a breach of LR12A in that he was smoking whilst mounted on a horse.

Trainer A Bailey was fined the sum of $50 for the ineligible nomination of UPPITY (a Class 2 horse) in today's Fillies & Mares Class 1.

RACE 1: COMMERCE QUEENSLAND MAIDEN H'CAP - 1000M

RUSTIC RAMBLER jumped in at the start and crowded AKITA BAY and CASUAL CHICK on to BELGALA.

RACE 2: HINTERLAND AIRCONDITIONING PTY LTD H'CAP (THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN) - 1700M

RUBYTANA was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1400m RUBYTANA commenced to race ungenerously and had to be restrained when racing in restricted room between POWER PACIFIC and SUPER FRIEND. POTENTIATE which was following was obliged to shift out to avoid the heels of RUBYTANA.

For some distance leaving the 1000m RUBYTANA continued to race ungenerously and had to be steadied off the heels of POWER PACIFIC.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of POWER PACIFIC, Trainer T Hall's representative, Mrs K Hall, stated that the stable had supported the gelding at its last start failure at the Gold Coast on 28 June 2003 and were at a loss to explain that performance. She further added that prior to that run the gelding had consistent form and on that basis an improved race was expected today. This explanation was noted.

A post race veterinary examination of TANNER revealed the gelding to be sore in the near fore leg.

RACE 3: PROVINCIAL PERSONNEL PTY LTD H'CAP (CLASS 5) - 1800M

For some distance leaving the 1300m SEA ROMANCE which was racing fiercely had to be restrained off the heels of MR. FIORELLI.

Shortly after entering the straight ADMIRAL ROBINSON had difficulty obtaining clear running between AWESOME WARRIOR and SEA ROMANCE.

RACE 4: WORKFORCE ONE PTY LTD CLASS 3 H'CAP - 1300M

Approaching the 800m BAZ ATTACK was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of CHARMING EYES which was taken in by PUSADORO (A Pattillo). A Pattillo was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

A post race veterinary examination of TENNESSEE LYRIC revealed the filly to be sore in the near fore fetlock.

RACE 5: REGENT TAXIS LIMITED PLATE (MAIDEN) - 1400M

JUBILEE KATE jumped in at the start and tightened LEADER MOONSHINE on to POLISH COURT.

Approaching the 1100m, as the pace slackened, TOLOCIN had to steady off the heels of DINNA ANCHOR. BUZZER which was following also had to be steadied and as a result shifted in slightly. MUNDOO which was racing greenly reacted adversely to the shift of BUZZER and shifted in and away from that runner and as a result lost significant ground after making heavy contact with the running rail. In this incident MUCHO GUSTO which was following MUNDOO was also hampered. MUNDOO continued to race greenly throughout the event. Trainer A Bailey's representative was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding's racing manners.

Approaching the 600m LEADER MOONSHINE which was inclined to lay out had to be steadied off the heels of WHO'S IN COMMAND which shifted in slightly.

EXTREME SKYE raced wide throughout the event.

Leaving the 300m until inside the100m LOVE A SONG was impeded and unable to obtain clear running between RECHARIA'S GIRL and BABU CHIREE which shifted out under pressure.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of JANIS JAY, App. M Spriggs stated that he was obliged to race wide throughout the event and rounding the home turn was inconvenienced and impeded for clear running behind the heels of RECHARIA'S GIRL which was inclined to shift ground in the straight. This explanation was noted.
