WEATHER: FINE TRACK: GOOD
RACE 1: FIRST MORTGAGE INVESTMENTS PLATE (MAIDEN) - 1800M
MEGANISSI was a late scratching at 8.19 am due to transport difficulties.
MONTEAL BEAU jumped out at the start tightening MUSIC MASTER. In this incident MUSIC MASTER blundered after striking the heels of MONTEAL BEAU.
BRONZE ICON knuckled over as the gates opened.
Approaching the first turn MISS DARBONNAIRE was tightened for room between MONTEAL BEAU and BRONZE ICON both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the home turn MISS DARBONNAIRE was held up for some distance behind the heels of HIGHPOWER MAN.
RACE 2: SOCIETY OF ST ANDREW OF SCOTLAND H'CAP (FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 1) - 1200M
LIGHTNING ROUGE which was fractious in the barriers was removed from the stalls to undergo a veterinary examination. The mare was subsequently passed fit to race.
LADY FARNDALE was slow to begin.
TEMPESTES jumped out at the start and tightened RECHARIA'S GIRL and SEQUALO LADY on to LIGHTNING ROUGE.
Approaching the 1150m SEQUALO LADY had to steady to avoid the heels of LIGHTNING ROUGE which shifted in and away from TUDOR SONG.
TUDOR SONG was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.
Leaving the 600m SEQUALO LADY had to be steadied after racing up on to the heels of POLKA QUEEN.
From entering the home straight until inside the 100m POLKA QUEEN was unable to obtain clear running.
Approaching the 100m SEQUALO LADY shifted out and away from POLKA QUEEN and brushed LADY FARNDALE.
RACE 3: RIDER HUNT H'CAP (THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN) - 1400M
MECHANISM which reared over in the saddling enclosure dislodging its rider, App. R Hurley, was a late scratching at 1.10 pm. Trainer G Wehlow was advised that MECHANISM must barrier trial prior to the colt's next start. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on MECHANISM be refunded with deductions of 3 cents in the dollar for the win and 4 cents in the dollar for the place on the face value of win and place tickets applicable.
MALMO was slow to begin.
BULLET POINT knuckled over at the start.
D Hutchins the rider of MY GAME was reprimanded for using an excessive amount of whip when his mount was out of contention.
RACE 4: BURCHILL PARTNERS H'CAP (CLASS 3) - 1000M
After being slow to begin, DARK DESIRE was hampered shortly after the start by ANOTHER JAZZY which shifted in.
Upon entering the straight BAZ ATTACK shifted out to improve and on two occasions bumped CHILLA NOVA.
For some distance leaving the 100m OODLES 'N' BOODLES (M Spriggs) raced in restricted room between SWIFT SEA and BAZ ATTACK which shifted ground under pressure. M Spriggs was reminded of his obligation to fully ride his mount out to the end of the race.
A post race veterinary examination of PRINCE OF THE CITY revealed the gelding to have struck itself on the off fore fetlock.
RACE 5: RAWLINSONS GROUP PLATE (MAIDEN) - 1000M
Due to transport difficulties SHE'S GOT STING arrived late on course. The filly was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon on arrival and passed fit to start.
App. L Fitzsimmons was harmlessly dislodged from KENLEAD twice in the preliminary.
ROCK HEART was slow to begin.
POWER EXPRESS reared as the gates opened and lost ground.
Shortly after the start WESTERN RED CEDAR was crowded for room between FEEL LIKE A WOMAN and SHE'S GOT STING which shifted out abruptly.
Leaving the 600m KENLEAD had to be steadied when racing in restricted room between ROCK HEART and UNDER COVET.
Inside the 500m WESTERN RED CEDAR which was racing untractably lost ground after shifting in and hitting the running rail.
IPAY which appeared awkward in its action in the straight underwent a veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormality.
KING OF STING suffered a bleeding attack during the event. The gelding will incur a mandatory three month ban from racing. A swab sample was taken from KING OF STING.
RACE 6: BARCLAY MOWLEM H'CAP (CLASS 5) - 1300M
MAXCAY which was kicked behind the barriers was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
GRANDE ARROW was slow to begin and was obliged to race wide throughout the event.
RACE 7: EAST COAST CONCRETE CONTRACTORS H'CAP (CLASS 2) - 1400M
IN SHANGHAI jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the hind quarters of MARKET RUN.
Following the event, App R Hurley reported that approaching the 1000m the ring bit on the bridle of BOTTLE snapped and placed him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. Rounding the first turn as App R Hurley was unable to steer his mount, it shifted out and forced IN SHANGHAI wider on the track.
Inside the 200m A Pattillo (CANNY DANCER) accidentally dropped his whip.
RACE 8: COLLAS MORO ROSS H'CAP (COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 1) - 1200M
CHERRY CHASER which reared in the barriers and dislodged its rider, M Bennett, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
SET TO FIRE and RAGING SECRETARIAT were tightened for room at the start between CHARLAD and CANADIAN BLUE both of which jumped awkwardly.
Rounding the first turn SET TO FIRE which was inclined to hang out had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KING'S REQUEST.
Approaching the 100m FLASH RAUTAI (App. L Fitzsimmons) shifted in under pressure and tightened ST SPARTICA on to the hind quarters of SET TO FIRE. App. L Fitzsimmons was severely reprimanded and advised to show more care when shifting ground in future.
EIGHT WINNERS ALONG WITH KING OF STING AND ROCK HEART WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
