SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Race 1: Sawford Voll Lawyers Maiden Plate – 1000m.
1st – Jay Low Girl 2nd – Mr Slick 3rd – Admiralty Lad 4th – Mountain
MR SLICK (S. Jones) and SHINKO RULER (D. Barron) were slow to begin.
Leaving the 900m MR SLICK laid out and had to be steadied off the heels of JENN (App L. Rolls).
Approaching the 600m MR SLICK had to be steadied and made contact with the running rail when tightened for room by JENN which shifted in and away from JUDARYAN (B. Melham).
DELLWOOD DIVA (C. Eaton) raced wide throughout the event and hung out making the home turn.
Near the 350m MR SLICK shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so forced JENN wider on the track.
D. Barron the rider of SHINKO RULER pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift out near the 350m when insufficiently clear of RACE GOSSIP (C. Schumacher) resulting in that horse having to be checked when forced onto RAPID ROWA (M. Bennett) which also had to be steadied as a consequence. D. Barron’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) meetings to commence midnight Wednesday 14 March 2007 and to expire midnight Sunday 25 March 2007.
Near the 100m D. Barron (SHINKO RULER) lost the use of his near side stirrup iron.
MOUNTAIN (App M. Hackett) shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
A postrace veterinary examination of JUDARYAN revealed the mare to have sustained a laceration to the mouth. JUDARYAN also shifted it’s off side hind shoe in running.
Race 2: Ebsworth & Ebsworth Lawyers 3YO & Upwards Maiden H’Cap – 1300m.
1st – Oriental Heights 2nd – Flying Silver 3rd – Came Rippin 4th – Clambang
RECALIBRATE (A. Spinks) was slow to begin.
GIRLS WITH A HEART (B. Melham) which jumped away awkwardly had to be checked shortly after the start when tightened for room between A KNOWN FACT (D. Green) and REEF STYLE (T. Treichel) which was taken in by ARTOUSTE (M. Phillips).
M. Bennett the rider of LADY PHUONG was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in near the 900m when insufficiently clear of REEF STYLE which had to be steadied.
SUZY SILVER (App L. Rolls) overraced in the early stages.
CAME RIPPIN (K. Pope) and CLAMBANG (D. Barron) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Near the 400m SUZY SILVER shifted out to improve and in doing so hampered A KNOWN FACT.
Near the 300m A KNOWN FACT was disappointed for a run between SUZY SILVER and LADY PHUONG (M. Bennett) which shifted in slightly. A KNOWN FACT was then held up for clear running until near the 100m.
App M. Hackett (FLYING SILVER) dropped his whip near the 250m.
A KNOWN FACT shifted in leaving the 100m and made contact with SUZY SILVER.
THE HEC MAN (App M. Palmer) blundered on pulling up resulting in App M. Palmer being dislodged.
A postrace veterinary examination of SPEED BUMP (D. Tanti) which compounded over the concluding stages revealed no abnormalities.
The track was upgraded to DEAD after the running of this event.
Race 3: Chaffey Bros Waterproofing Class 1 H’Cap – 900m.
1st – Dreaming Of Glory 2nd – Blarney Wish 3rd – Checkit 4th -Flowingcomet
BLARNEY WISH which sustained an abrasion to the inside of the off side hock enroute to the track was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
Approaching the 800m DANCAN MELODY (D. Tanti) was tightened for room between
FLOWINGCOMET (D. Griffin) and DREAMING OF GLORY (App M. Hackett) which shifted in.
OUR BABE GEMMA (C. Eaton) and BLARNEY WISH (B. Melham) raced wide for the majority of the event.
CHECKIT (C. Schumacher) laid in under pressure in the straight.
EADIE MAY dislodged it’s near hind plate during running.
Race 4: Stuart Crompton Projects QTIS 3YO Maiden H’Cap – 1200m.
1st – Thorondo 2nd – Shobelle 3rd – Winnie’s Boy 4th – Rock Slide
SEABANK (D. Barron) and DORPER (S. Jones) were both slow to begin.
DARRY (App M. Palmer) jumped away awkwardly.
MADIFYOUDONT (App M. Hackett) blundered badly on jumping away and shifted out making contact with SURFEIT (C. Eaton).
SHOBELLE (T. Treichel) and THORONDO (K. Pope) were tightened for room on jumping away between ROCK SLIDE (D. Tanti) and WINNIE’S BOY (App L. Rolls) which began awkwardly and shifted in.
JUST THE POWER (B. Melham) and SEABANK made contact shortly after the start.
SEABANK overraced in the early stages.
WINNIE’S BOY, SEABANK, DARRY and JUST THE POWER all raced wide throughout.
When questioned regarding the tactics employed on DARRY today App M. Palmer stated that he was instructed to have the filly midfield however, after initially being slow to begin the horse settled further back than anticipated. He further added that he was caught wide and despite his efforts was unable to obtain a position closer to the fence. Ms K Loi representing trainer G. Heinrich confirmed the instructions given to App M. Palmer. Stewards noted their explanations.
Stewards questioned stable foreperson Ms Michelle Seymour regarding the somewhat improved performance of THORONDO. Ms Seymour stated that the stable did not expect the horse to improve as it had in today’s event. She stated that even though THORONDO works well the stable was not confident of any forward showing as they were of the opinion that THORONDO was still maturing. Ms Seymour further stated that THORONDO had not been supported by connections today. Stewards noted her explanation.
Race 5: Smart Employment Solutions Class 2 H’Cap – 1200m.
1st – Bear’s Command 2nd – Sleek Repeat 3rd – Aladora 4th - Famulus
ALADORO (App M. Palmer) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
BUSHIE (M. Bennett) was tightened on jumping away between TOP GUN LANE (D. Barron) and SOLITAIRE GEM (C. Whiteley) both of which shifted ground.
SLEEK REPEAT (App I. French) raced wide in the early stages.
FAMULUS (App M. Hackett) raced wide for the majority of the event.
SLEEK REPEAT shifted out under pressure approaching the 300m inconveniencing SOLITAIRE GEM.
A postrace veterinary examination of TOLL OF TIME (T. Treichel) which compounded over the concluding stages failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 6: Earthfleet Class 3 H’Cap – 1800m.
1st – Honour Happy List 2nd – Tayrhiana 3rd – Latino 4th - Thorbey
Soon after the start THORBEY (S. Hughes) and HONOUR HAPPY LIST (App L. Rolls) were tightened for room between DANZIG RED (App M. Palmer) and TAYRHIANA (K. Pope) which shifted out.
TAYRHIANA was caught wide in the early and middle stages.
Passing the 600m THORBEY and HONOUR HAPPY LIST came together and brushed.
Inside the 100m TAYRHIANA and LATINO (M. Bennett) came together and brushed on 2 occasions.
K. Pope the rider of TAYRHIANA broke is whip at the 200m placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
A postrace veterinary examination of THORBEY revealed the gelding had sustained a puncture wound to the off fore cannon.
Race 7: Lambousa Building Class 5 H’Cap – 1300m.
1st – Bit Of Magic 2nd – Social Gathering 3rd – Monterrico 4th – Banka Buck
UNBRIDLED FURY (S. Jones) jumped away very awkwardly and lost ground.
OUR EXCESS (S. Hughes) was slow to begin.
BIT OF MAGIC (App L. Rolls) jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the hind quarters of CARPENTARIA (D. Griffin). A short distance later CARPENTARIA raced in restricted room for a short distance between BIT OF MAGIC and BANKA BUCK (C. Whiteley) which shifted out.
Near the 700m BIT OF MAGIC had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DANEWIN BEAUTY (D. Tanti) which shifted in. MONTERRICO (K. Pope) which was following had to be steadied as a consequence. D. Tanti the rider of DANEWIN BEAUTY was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Leaving the 200m DANEWIN BEAUTY had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by BIT OF MAGIC which shifted in under pressure.
Race 8: Master Builders Association Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m.
1st – Royal Lionne 2nd – Karalee 3rd – Pavlichenko 4th - Lionova
LIONOVA (D. Tanti) which was slow to begin shifted in shortly after the start and had to be steadied off the heels of PAVLICHENKO.
KARALEE shifted in at the start and made contact with GIVITANAME (App L. Rolls) then shifted out bumping NICKADANE (D. Barron)
KARALEE (C. Whiteley) was inclined to lay in throughout the event.
PAVLICHENKO overraced in early stages.
SAVOURING (D. Green) raced wide throughout.
KARALEE was momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
