As Jockey N Day was indisposed due to personal reasons, Stewards permitted the following rider replacements:
Race 4: HIS DREAM A Spinks
Race 7: LIBBY’S RAINBOW D Barron
Race 8: RAUTAI’S RISING D Barron
Race 1: Emirates Airline Maiden H’cap – 1400m
1st – Tricky Belle 2nd – Bremusa 3rd – Keen Venture 4th – King Jasar
G Cornish Trainer of KING JASAR (App. T Chambers) was fined the sum of $50 for failing to present that horse to race with a tongue tie.
Acting on veterinary advice KOASTAL KING was a late withdrawal at 11.35 am. Trainer P Macpherson was advised that he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness before the gelding again races.
SWEET LEAH (D Barron) was tightened on jumping away between TRICKY BELLE (App. M Palmer) and KING JASAR which shifted out after beginning awkwardly.
BREMUSA (App. M Hackett) was caught racing wide in the early stages of the event.
KING JASAR was inclined to over-race in the early stages of the event.
SWEET LEAH was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
Jockey A Spinks, rider of KEEN VENTURE, reported that the gelding raced ungenerously at various stages throughout the event.
Race 2: Gold Coast Hino 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1300m.
1st – Rock Slide 2nd – Asituation 3rd – Top Ross 4th - Songstar
ASITUATION (S Campton) and SERIOUS HEAT (C Whiteley) came together on jumping away.
MODERN GLAMOUR (App. T Chambers) and LOADED WEAPON (T Treichel) brushed on jumping away.
Approaching the 800m MODERN GLAMOUR shifted in making contact with the running rail causing the horse to become unbalanced. SERIOUS HEAT which was trailing had to be steadied and shifted out and made contact with EXELERO (P Hammersley).
BLONDE SPY (App. M Hackett) was inclined to over-race in the early and middle stages.
BLONDE SPY again over-raced and near the 100m had to be steadied off the heels of EXELERO.
LOADED WEAPON suffered a bleeding attack during running. As LOADED WEAPON had bled on a previous occasion, acting under the provisions of AR53A(5) the gelding was declared ineligible to start again in any race. A swab sample was taken from LOADED WEAPON.
Race 3: Skelta Sports Cars F&M Class 1 H’cap – 1000m.
1st – Jay Low Girl 2nd – Born For Glory 3rd – Mary’s Magique 4th – Canny Kell
GINGKO GOLD (App. T Chambers) was a late withdrawal at 1.20 pm by Stewards acting on veterinary advice after the horse reared up and turned in the reverse direction in the barrier stalls. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on GINGKO GOLD were ordered to be refunded. All winning bets were ordered to be paid less 41 cents in the dollar for a win and 24 cents for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer A Bailey’s representative, Mrs S Thompson, was advised that GINGKO GOLD must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again.
JAY LOW GIRL proved difficult to load delaying the start.
On return to scale a protest was lodged by D Griffin the rider of BORN TO GLORY which finished second against JAY LOW GIRL (App. M Palmer) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference shortly after the start. Stewards after considering the evidence and acting on their own observations were of the opinion that JACANA BELLE (W Moore) shifted out at this time which was a contributing factor of BORN TO GLORY being tightened and racing on the inside of JAY LOW GIRL. Stewards therefore dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judge.
JACANA BELLE (W Moore) shifted in at the start tightening TENFUHRCENT (K Pope) and CHECKIT (P Hammersley) and shortly after shifted out which resulted in BORN FOR GLORY being tightened between JACANA BELLE and JAY LOW GIRL which shifted in.
Approaching the finish MARY’S MAGIQUE (App. A Taylor) shifted in under pressure tightening OUR NETTY (M Heagney).
Jockey M Heagney (OUR NETTY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in near the 700m when insufficiently clear of CANNY KELL which in turn crowded JAY LOW GIRL on to CHECKIT which was checked and lost its rightful position. Jockey Heagney’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings to commence midnight 14/04/2007 and to expire midnight 25/04/2007.
Race 4: Hino Trucks Maiden Plate – 1000m.
1st – Equates 2nd – Jenn 3rd – Romsey 4th – Finding Neverland
BENJI’S BABE (M Heagney) was tightened for room on jumping away between FINDING NEVERLAND (M Bennett) and THE IRISH (App. M Hackett) both of which shifted ground.
MORDANE (App. A Taylor) was slow to begin.
Near the 700m ROMSEY (App. L Rolls) and THE IRISH were tightened for room when racing on the inside of HIS DREAM (A Spinks) which shifted in and away from JUZANA (D Griffin).
EQUATES (K Pope) was caught racing wide for the majority of the event.
Leaving the 400m HIS DREAM was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn and became awkward on the heels of EQUATES and was steadied. THE IRISH had to be steadied in this incident.
Race 5: Coastal Tipper Hire C,G&E Class 1 H’cap – 1000m.
1st – Mind Player 2nd – Darubla 3rd – Lachlan Valley 4th - Zabullion
ROXBURY BOY (C Whiteley), MIND PLAYER (App. M Palmer), LACHLAN VALLEY (T Treichel) and TARCONTI (K Pope) all began awkwardly.
Near the 800m REMINGTON STEEL (M Heagney) shifted in and bumped ROXBURY BOY when steadied off the heels of TELERIAN (M Bennett) which shifted in.
LACHLAN VALLEY and TARCONTI were caught racing wide for the majority of the event.
Leaving the 800m MIND PLAYER over-raced for a short distance when steadied from the heels of WIGNDOVE (P Denton).
Near the 500m WIGNDOVE improved up on to the heels of REMINGTON STEEL and had to be steadied.
ROXBURY BOY and WIGNDOVE were both held up for clear running on straightening until leaving the 200m.
Race 6: Marlene Cook Class 1 H’cap – 1800m.
1st – Aquaracer 2nd – Daintree Crossing 3rd – Fast End 4th - Nickadane
SUPREME COCKTAIL (M Heagney) was slow to begin.
NICKADANE (App. L Rolls) and VOIGHT (A Spinks) were tightened on jumping away between AQUARACER (D Griffin) and FAST END (A Erhart) which both shifted ground.
Near the 300m VOIGHT shifted in and made heavy contact with WITH HIM (G Palmer) forcing that horse across the heels of AQUARACER.
SUPREME COCKTAIL was held up for clear running between the 300 and 200m.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MAKALU which was having its first race start on this track, App. M McDonald explained that the horse in his opinion failed to handle the track conditions.
Race 7: Pugs Pty Ltd Class 5 H’cap – 1200m.
1st – Mashudu 2nd – Royal Opera 3rd – Libby’s Rainbow 4th - Dime
COURSE HE’S CANNY (S Campton) was a late withdrawal at 4.10 pm by Stewards acting on veterinary advice after the horse reared up and became cast in the barrier stalls. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on COURSE HE’S CANNY were ordered to be refunded. All winning bets were ordered to be paid less 21 cents in the dollar for a win and 21 cents for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer S Jones was advised that COURSE HE’S CANNY must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again.
PUSHPIG (K Pope) was a late withdrawal at 4.11 pm by Stewards acting on veterinary advice after the horse sustained injuries as a result of COURSE HE’S CANNY becoming fractious in the barriers. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on PUSHPIG were ordered to be refunded. All winning bets were ordered to be paid less 8 cents in the dollar for a win and 9 cents for a place on the face value of the ticket.
EASY PLAN (L Morrison) reared and then blundered as the start was effected.
Approaching the 800m EASY PLAN began to over-race and improved up on to the heels of CRACKAWAY (App. M Hackett) and had to be steadied. EASY PLAN continued to over-race during the middle stages of the event and approaching the 400m shifted out and bumped DIME (B Swanton).
CALALUNA (T Treichel) was caught racing wide for the majority of the event.
CRACKAWAY was held up on straightening until leaving the 300m.
Race 8: All Coast Recyclers Pty Ltd Class 3 H’cap – 1400m.
1st – Departure 2nd – Supercilious 3rd – Hy Dream 4th – Lea Maris
As App. O Turpin was indisposed through illness, Stewards permitted A Spinks to be replaced as the rider of LESIA ROSE due to the unavailability of any other apprentice.
TOP GUN LANE (App. T Chambers) began awkwardly.
TOP GUN LANE over-raced in the early stages.
Approaching the 1100m MARDI MAGRAR (K Pope) which had a tendency to lay out across the heels of LIFE’S SHORT (S Campton) was checked.
Approaching the 800m TOP GUN LANE again over-raced and shifted out bumping GOLD GOLD GOLD (C Whiteley).
GOLD GOLD GOLD and MARDI MAGRAR were caught wide for the majority of the event.
Near the 200m SUPERCILIOUS (M Bennett) shifted in under pressure crowding LEA MARIS (A Erhart).
