SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Race 1: Southport Radiators & Air-Conditioning Maiden Plate – 900m.
1st – In Harmony 2nd – Downsize 3rd – Trinity Heights 4th – Mossman Bay

Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer G Reid for the late declaration of rider for BURN SO COOL (W Moore).

Jockey T Treichel was fined $100 for being dually engaged on SHESINTHEMONEY and MISS BRASCHI in this event.

B Guy Trainer of KILBORN which was fractious in the barriers was advised that a further Barrier Certificate would be required for KILBORN prior to the filly’s next race start.

GYROCOPTER (G Baker) blundered on jumping away.

IN HARMONY (S Holcombe) and BURN SO COOL (W Moore) jumped away awkwardly.

MARTHA’S VINEYARD (App. C Reith) jumped in at the start and made contact with MORINGA’S GUNSHOT (M Paget).

MISS BRASCHI (T Treichel) which was slow to begin had to be steadied shortly after the start off the heels of CAWDOR TONY (C Whiteley) which shifted out.

App. S Holcombe rider of IN HARMONY was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in near the 700m when not clear of CAWDOR TONY which had to be steadied. CAWDOR TONY then raced ungenerously for a short distance.

Making the 400m TRINITY HEIGHTS (App. T Chambers) which was inclined to lay out had to be steadied off the heels of IN HARMONY.

Near the 200m DOWNSIZE (App. L Rolls) was held up and unable to secure clear running for a short distance.

TRINITY HEIGHTS was obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of IN HARMONY which had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 2: Natrad Southport Radiators Maiden H’cap – 1400m.
1st – Denby 2nd – Bentley Blue 3rd – Way Too Hot 4th – Baldy Mount

Trainer M Eggleston was fined the sum of $100 under AR175(k) for declaring T Pannell as the rider of RAGING FORTIES without formally engaging that rider.

RED TO RICHES was declared a late scratching at 12.57 pm by order of the Stewards when the mare was unable to be loaded in the barrier stalls. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on RED TO RICHES were ordered to be refunded. All winning bets were ordered to be paid less 3 cents in the dollar for a win and 4 cents for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer B Gentle was advised that a further Barrier Certificate would be required prior to the mare’s next race start.

COOL QUEEN (D Tanti), IMPERIAL GROUCH (App. J Wood) and MONSTERSTORM (T Treichel) were slow to begin.

RHIDAN’S CHANT (D Green) and BALDY MOUNT (App. L Rolls) made contact on jumping away.

CASH ON ARRIVAL (T Pannell) and JE SUIS ROCKSTAR (App. L Dittman) raced wide for the majority of the event.

BALDY MOUNT over-raced for a short distance leaving the 800m.

LEGAL FEE (C Whiteley) was held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn.

BALDY MOUNT had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Approaching the 300m PROPHETEER (App. C Isdale) which had a tendency to lay in was tightened for room by WAY TOO HOT (M Paget) which shifted in to obtain clear running. M Paget the rider of WAY TOO HOT was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Approaching the finish line BALDY MOUNT had to be steadied when DENBY (C Reith) shifted out under pressure. Jockey C Reith the rider of DENBY was advised that he must stop riding and straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of PROPHETEER today, App. C Isdale stated that the horse travelled well in the early and middle stages of the event and upon entering the straight was held up for clear running. He further stated that in his opinion the horse at that stage lost all momentum and failed to pick up and sprint thereafter. Trainer D Caldwell could offer no explanation for the horse’s poor performance. A post race veterinary examination of PROPHETEER failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 3: Natrad Class 5 H’cap – 1400m.
1st – Fissile 2nd – Longstreet 3rd – Nobelenus 4th - Falzig

App. L Dittman rider of FALZIG was fined the sum of $100 for failing to weigh in 4th.

A post race veterinary examination of FALZIG revealed the mare to have sustained a laceration to the off fore leg and also to be mildly lame in the off fore leg. The connections were advised that they must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness for FALZIG before the mare races again.

Race 4: Southport Radiators & Air-Conditioning 4YO & Up Entires & Geldings Class 1 H’cap – 1200m.
1st – Kane Mochi 2nd – Shady Prospect 3rd – Novateur 4th - Canivorthrill

SAND RULER was declared a late scratching at 2.11 pm by order of the Stewards when the horse was unable to be loaded in the barrier stalls. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on SAND RULER were ordered to be refunded. All winning bets were ordered to be paid less 7 cents in the dollar for a win and 8 cents for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer G Heinrich was advised that a further Barrier Certificate would be required prior to the SAND RULER’s next race start.

CLASSY CRYSTAL (App. J Wood) raced wide throughout the event.

Approaching the 600m TUNE UP TUESDAY (App. L Dittman) improved up on to the heels of LITTLE TOPAR (G Baker) and when being steadied shifted out taking MAYBE BOLD (N Day) wider on the track.

Race 5: Gold Coast City Cup Mares Class 1 H-cap – 1200m.
1st – Fasliyev Dander 2nd – Lady Illusion 3rd – Femme Lien 4th – Martini Princess

Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer S Lee for the late declaration of rider for JEWEL OF EPHRAIM (E Kehoe).

FASLIYEV DANCER (T Treichel) shifted out at the start making contact with LADY ILLUSION (C Reith) which in turn shifted out taking MARTINI PRINCESS (C Whiteley) on to PONBAR DUCHESS (App. M Chadwick).

JEWEL OF EPHRAIM over-raced in the middle stages of the event.

Race 6: Brooke-Lee (QTIS 3YO) Class 1 H’cap – 1200m.
1st – Leapfrog 2nd – Willowie Lad 3rd – Mymysherona 4th – Vinnies Joy

Trainer D Murphy was fined the sum of $200 for failing to scratch GALACTIC SPIRIT by the prescribed time.

At the request of Jockey C Whiteley, SILVER’S LEGACY was examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to start.

LEAPFROG (App. L Rolls) jumped in at the start and made contact with TUSCON RAIN (D Barron) which in turn shifted in hampering MYMYSHERONA (D Tanti).

A post-race veterinary examination of SILVER’S LEGACY revealed the gelding to be mildly sore in both fore legs. Trainer L Ross was advised that he must obtain a veterinary certificate for SILVER’S LEGACY prior to its next race start.

Race 7: Adair Auto Air Products (Class 2 H’cap) – 1400m.
1st – Our Hawk 2nd – Washed 3rd – Bet ‘N’ Barney 4th – My Rendition

When questioned regarding the apparent change of tactics employed on YOU SAID today, App. E Kehoe stated that she had been instructed not to bustle the horse in the early stages and after being slightly slow away the horse then settled back further than she had anticipated. Trainer K Nipperess stated that he had issued similar instructions at the horse’s recent starts and felt that due to the rain affected surfaces YOU SAID had been racing on recently it was able to take up a handier position as compared with today.

Race 8: Nip Into Natrad Southport Radiators Class 3 Plate – 1800m.
1st – Shuffle the Cash 2nd – Kentish Rose 3rd- Brambletye 4th – Loaded Tycoon

App. L Dittman sustained a harmless fall from SHUFFLE THE CASH during the preliminary.

SURETTA (App. T Chambers) jumped out at the start making contact with BRAMBLETYE (App. L Rolls) which in turn shifted out and bumped PATTI (J Bowditch).

SHUFFLE THE CASH (App. L Dittman) had to be steadied shortly after the start when tightened for room between KENTISH ROSE (M Paget) and HIGHLY THOUGHT OF (T Treichel) which was taken out by GOLD STRATEGY (C Reith).

INTREPID JOURNEY (D Tanti) commenced to over-race approaching the first turn and continued to do so for some distance.

LOADED TYCOON (G Baker) and IN NIUGINI (D Barron) raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.

Approaching the 600m SHUFFLE THE CASH shifted out to improve and in doing so made heavy contact with INTREPID JOURNEY.

BRAMBLETYE (App. L Rolls) was unable to obtain clear running until near the 100m.

A post-race veterinary examination of TRICOUNT (T Pannell) which finished a distance last failed to reveal any abnormalities.
