Race 1: Hickey & Co Maiden Plate – 1200m.
1st – Crack The Kitty 2nd – Royal Hope 3rd – Painters Gold 4th – Handy Hints
Stable representative for trainer M. Thexton was fined the sum of $100.00 under the provisions of AR140B(2) for presenting CRACK THE KITTY in the enclosure with incorrect gear.
ROYAL HOPE (B. Payne) which was a little slow to begin had to be steadied shortly after when tightened for room between JASLIE (App L. Rolls) and BROTAG (D. Griffin) which shifted in slightly.
CRACK THE KITTY (App L. Dittman) raced greenly throughout the event.
Leaving the 200m HANDY HINTS (D. Barron) shifted out under pressure inconveniencing ROYAL HOPE.
Race 2: Heritage Brothers Funeral Services Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m.
1st – Mohito 2nd – Justdane 3rd – The Italian 4th – Many Talents
MAJESTIC RULER (App J. Quinnell) reared as the gates were effected and lost considerable ground. Stable representative for trainer J. Bayliss was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate before racing again.
MANY TALENTS (App L. Rolls) was momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
Race 3: Funeral Plan Management Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m.
1st – Pyper’s Image 2nd – Dealt A Diamond 3rd – Niemcz 4th – Taj Paru
PYPER’S IMAGE (M. Paget) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out making contact with ELECTRIC LASS (M. Bennett).
GENERAL GEN (L. Karklis) was slow to begin.
Approaching the 1100m PYPER’S IMAGE had to be steadied momentarily when tightened for room by ELECTRIC LASS which was taken in by TAJ PARU (D. Green). A short distance later TAJ PARU shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider making contact with ELECTRIC LASS, which in turn became unbalanced and shifted in tightening the running of GENERAL GEN which then made contact with the running rail.
Near the 400m PYPER’S IMAGE improved up onto the heels of TAJ PARU and had to be steadied.
Near the 350m SLINKY CHELLE (App M. Speers) which had commenced to tire, shifted out bumping SHE’S A MODEL (App J. Wood).
PYPER’S IMAGE was inclined to shift out under pressure over the concluding stages.
A post race veterinary examination of DOWNSIZE which compounded over the concluding stages failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 4: Wes & Ashley Heritage 3YO & Up Class 4 H’Cap – 1000m.
1st – Magic Promenade 2nd – Run The Course 3rd – Borsha’s Mark 4th - Zod
Stable representative for L. Birchley was fined the sum of $100.00 under the provisions of AR140B(2) for failing to present ATOMIC HUSS in the correct gear
Trainer L. Kelly was fined the sum of $100.00 under the provisions of AR140B(2) for presenting BORSHA’S MARK in the enclosure with incorrect gear.
ROCK THE ROSES (D. Griffin) jumped away awkwardly.
BORSHA’S MARK (App M. Hellyer) which raced wide for the majority of the event was inclined to lay out in the early and middle stages.
Near the 350m MR MONTGOMERY (J. Murphy) shifted out making contact with ROCK THE ROSES.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of ATOMIC HUSS App M. Speers stated that although the mare had a tendency to lay out in the early and middle stages she travelled quite well. App Speers added that even though ATOMIC HUSS was momentarily held up for clear running at the top of the straight he was disappointed with its effort over the concluding stages. Stable representative K. Natole could offer no explanation for the performance other than to advise stewards the mare had previously displayed a reluctance to race inside horses and may not have appreciated racing in restricted room in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination of ATOMIC HUSS failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 5: Heritage Brothers Funeral Services Class 2 H’Cap – 1200m.
1st – King Joel 2nd – Left Standing 3rd – Dorado Beach 4th – Perilous Princess
SAIONJI (App L. Dittman) was slow to begin.
Near the 900m TIGGEROO (App J. Quinnell) had to be steadied when tightened for room by DORADO BEACH (J. Murphy) which had a tendency to lay in. A short distance later JEZZAMINE (D. Griffin) which was initially taken in slightly by ZAHITE (App M. Hellyer) commenced to lay in tightening the running of DORADO BEACH which made contact with the running rail and had to be steadied.
Leaving the 200m DORADO BEACH was momentarily held up for clear running.
Race 6: Heritage Brothers Funeral Services Class 5 H’Cap – 1400m.
1st – Defend The Hill 2nd – Chilli Magic 3rd – Unconquerable 4th – Jimmy Jim
LEGEND OF GOKU (App L. Rolls) was slow to begin.
Race 7: Heritage Brothers Funeral Services Class 3 H’Cap – 1800m.
1st – Kentish Rose 2nd – Telestah La Vistah 3rd – Classy Felix 4th – Beau Sam
The start was delayed when all runners had to be reloaded due to a defective barrier stall.
GREENFINDER (App J. Quinnell) jumped out at the start making contact with BEAU SAM (T. Treichel).
Rounding the first turn KING XAVIER (M. Heagney) commenced to overrace and had to be steadied off the heels of TELESTAH LA VISTAH (App L. Dittman).
Leaving the 1400m IN NIUGINI (App S. Payne) commenced to overrace and when being restrained shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of THUNDER BEACH (App M. Hellyer). IN NIUGINI then continued to overrace for some distance thereafter.
BEAU SAM raced wide in the early and middle stages.
CLASSY FELIX (App L. Rolls) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of DEFERRED jockey D. Griffin stated the horse had travelled well until he commenced to improve near the 600m at which point the horse was immediately under pressure and failed to respond to his riding thereafter. Trainer J. Hunter when questioned stated that in his opinion the horse was not suited by the rain affected track conditions today however, undertook to advise the stewards of any condition that may arise with DEFERRED which may have affected its performance today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
