As R. Goltz and C. Whitely were indisposed for today’s meeting due to injury riding replacements were permitted as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
From Sunshine Coast Meeting 29/5/2009 – Race 6
Near the 1300m VEEDUB (A. Merritt) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DONOR AMORIS (N. Evans) which shifted in. Jockey N. Evans was reprimanded for this incident.
From Sunshine Coast Meeting 7/6/2009 – Race 6
Trainer B. Tanks was fined $200.00 for failing to obtain approval for a gear change for PRUSSIAN BELLE.
From Gold Coast Turf Club Meeting 6/6/2009
M. Simms trainer of IVORSONG reported that the horse was showing signs of soreness in the flank area where the horse made contact with the gates prior to being loaded. He further advised stewards the horse would be sent for an immediate spell.
Race 1: Christmas In July 11 July Maiden Plate – 1800m
1st – Preacher Man 2nd – Tickle Me Quick 3rd – Motive 4th – Laguna Seca
Approaching the 1700m STALWART GARZA (App J. Piper) had to be checked when tightened between PREACHER MAN (R. Wiggins), which was taken out by FRIENDLY MANNER (App J. Wood), which had a tendency to hang out and LAGUNA SECA (L. Cheshire), which hung in away from SILVER SPIKE (N. Seymour). FRIENDLY MANNER continued to hang out throughout the race.
B. El-Issa the rider of MOTIVE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 450m causing BEDOUIN LEGEND (G. Colless) to be checked. B. El-Issa’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) meetings to commence midnight 13 June 2009 and to expire midnight 24 June 2009.
Race 2: Spring Racing Carnival Dining Packages Available QTIS 2YO H’Cap – 1300m
1st – Rough Dance 2nd – Deb’s Pick 3rd – Casa Fundada 4th – Lord Linlithgow
CASA FUNDADA (J. Bates) shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of LORD LINLITHGOW jockey J. Byrne stated that his mount never travelled well at any stage and had not handled the slow track. A post race veterinary examination of LORD LINLITHGOW revealed no abnormalities. A swab sample was taken from LORD LINLITHGOW.
Race 3: Functions 7 Days A Week Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st - Good Reception 2nd – Smartness 3rd – Double Royale 4th – La Bandera
As M. Cahill was indisposed due to personal reasons he was replaced by N. Seymour as the rider of SMARTNESS.
D. Griffin the rider of KAMADIVA had his whip knocked from his grasp near the 250m.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of KAMADIVA jockey D. Griffin stated that the horse was inclined to travel a little too keenly with blinkers on today however, when asked for an effort on straightening the horse did not respond to his riding and dipped in the going. Trainer J. Wallace agreed with D. Griffin’s assessment and will consider removing the blinkers and giving the horse a slight ease up. A swab sample was taken from KAMADIVA.
Race 4: Gold Coast City Cup Raceday Saturday 22 August QTIS 3YO Maiden H’Cap – 1300m
1st – Lucky Lauren 2nd – Margette 3rd – Often Wrong 4th – Report For Duty
As M. Cahill was indisposed due to personal reasons he was replaced by J. Byrne as the rider of ON THE MARK.
Trainer B. Laming was fined the sum of $100.00 for presenting ON THE MARK with incorrect gear and failing to remove the norton bit.
OFTEN WRONG (B. Pengelly) and GIVE IT TO ME (T. Treichel) were tightened on jumping away between REPORT FOR DUTY (App A. Badger), which jumped away awkwardly and ON THE MARK (J. Byrne), which jumped inwards.
On the first turn ON THE MARK had to be eased to avoid the heels of MARGETTE (M. Palmer) when that horse shifted in.
On entering the straight COCORVADA (A. Spinks) hung in and proved difficult to ride out to the finish.
Race 5: Sport Lover’s Package Saturday 27 June Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Warando Street 2nd – Go Big 3rd – Questionheir 4th – Red Treasure
B. Guy the trainer of MY TOY BOY, which was fractious in the barriers, was advised that the horse will be required to pass a further barrier test before racing again.
RED TREASURE (App J. Piper) and GO BIG (T. Treichel) were both a little slow to jump.
Shortly after straightening WARANDO STREET (D. Griffin) shifted in abruptly when struck with the whip.
Race 6: Del Kayser Memorial Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Pumplechook 2nd – I’montop 3rd – Lochhead 4th – Countless Moments
Due to a racebook error both LATARGIRL (B. Pengelly) and LOCHHEAD (T. Pannell) were listed with incorrect riders when it should have read LATARGIRL (T. Pannell) and LOCHHEAD (J. Taylor).
As App J. Jones was indisposed due to illness stewards permitted App J. Wood to be substituted as the rider of PUMPLECHOOK.
DELICATE DAMSEL was examined behind the barriers and passed fit to start.
TALE OF THE TIGER (C. Reith) which was fractious in the barriers, jumped away awkwardly missing the start. TALE OF THE TIGER then raced greenly near the finish line and shifted in abruptly. The connections of TALE OF THE TIGER were advised that a warning would be placed against the horse’s manners.
Near the 100m FEHER ARANY (T. Treichel) had to shift inwards off the heels of the tiring NERANGATANG (App L. Rolls).
Race 7: Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea Friday 19 June Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – A Lot Of Faith 2nd – San Isidro 3rd – Flamin’ Lucky 4th – Sir Rossa
SAN ISIDRO (G. Colless) and NOVA CHENKA (A. Pattillo) were both slow to begin.
When the pace slowed passing the 1000m ELITE GENERAL (W. Clasohm) was inclined to overrace.
K. Purdy the rider of SIR ROSSA was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts out to the finish line.
Race 8: Book Your Christmas Function Today! Class 5 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Kryptelon 2nd – Intertheblack 3rd – Fools Rush In 4th - Another Takeover
Trainer D. Kelly was fined the sum of $50.00 for presenting ANOTHER TAKEOVER without a tongue tie.
SNORKEL (M. Heagney) and KRYPTELON (M. Palmer) made heavy contact on jumping away.
CATCHIT (J. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with GATAKERS BAY (App M. Hellyer).
INTERTHEBLACK (App M. Speers) jumped awkwardly and shifted in making contact with GREY EXPECTATIONS (D. Barron).
ANOTHER TAKEOVER (N. Seymour) jumped awkwardly and missed the start.
Approaching the 400m GREY EXPECTATIONS (D. Barron) had to be checked when taking a tight run between ANOTHER TAKEOVER (N. Seymour), which shifted out slightly and FOOLS RUSH IN (R. Wiggins), which shifted in under pressure. Both R. Wiggins and N. Seymour were reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Race 9: Renew Your GCTC Membership Class 3 H’Cap – 1000m
1st – Kalkie Kane 2nd – Vivaheart 3rd – Periander 4th – Judge Me Fair
As R. Spokes was indisposed due to personal reasons stewards permitted J. Taylor to be substituted as the rider of PRIVATE ACCORD.
STRUMMING (J. Bowditch) was tightened shortly after the start between PERRI LOU (App M. Hellyer), which shifted in away from JUDGE ME FAIR (A. Pattillo) and MR CHAIRMAN (M. Palmer), which jumped outwards.
MUSICALLY (D. Griffin) missed the start.
Near the 200m PERIANDER (App B. Badger) shifted in under riding causing SWIFT ‘N’ DAPPER (B. Pengelly) to be inconvenienced and taken in onto STRUMMING.
Near the 100m SWIFT ‘N’ DAPPER again became unbalanced when shifting out slightly under pressure resulting in the horse having to be eased away from the heels of PERIANDER.
