Race 1: Sport Lover’s Package Saturday 27 June Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate – 1300m
1st – Mambo Princess 2nd – Scaryheart 3rd – Images 4th – Here’s To Me
Retrospective to the running of Race 1 the track was downgraded to a Heavy 10.
SCARYHEART (L. Cheshire) was tightened shortly after jumping away between STREET WISE (App L. Rolls) and IMAGES (D. Griffin), which was taken out by MAMBO PRINCESS Contact on jumping. (App M. Hellyer).
Race 2: Ebnem Pty Ltd Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate – 1300m
1st – Chastelain 2nd – Kalbo 3rd – Go Big 4th – Sir Mossman
Trainer D. Murphy was fined the sum of $200.00 for the late notification of a rider for AIR ACADEMY.
The start of this race was delayed after TIC TOC TIGER was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon after becoming fractious in the barriers. TIC TOC TIGER was cleared to start.
BITTY VOUS PLAIT (R. Wiggins) and CANNY BROOK (C. Franklin) came together on jumping away.
TIC TOC TIGER (App M. Hellyer) was tightened on jumping away between CONTEXT (T. Treichel) and THE SNICSTER (D. Tanti), which shifted out.
PRINCE TELESTO (App M. Palmer) overraced in the early stages.
T. Triechel the rider of CONTEXT reported that the horse failed to handle to prevailing track conditions.
Stewards questioned App M. Speers regarding the reasons for his failure to fulfil the riding engagement of PRINCE TELESTO. After taking some evidence the matter was adjourned to enable trainer R. Bradshaw to attend.
Race 3: Dial Before You Dig 2YO H’Cap – 900m
1st – Lightstar 2nd – Purettan 3rd – Piccali 4th - Jillilikes
LAST TANGO was declared a late scratching at 1.16 p.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice after the horse broke through the barriers and dislodged its rider G. Baker before completing a circuit of the course. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on LAST TANGO were ordered to be refunded. All winning bets were ordered to be paid less 12 cents in the dollar for a win and 11 cents in the dollar for a place on the face value of the ticket.
LADY TINGLE (App M. Palmer) proved difficult to load and was fractious in the barriers.
AEQUITAS (App M. Hellyer) was tightened on jumping away between LADY TINGLE and ANGELON (App J. Jones), both of which shifted ground.
App J. Jones reported that ANGELON failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
Race 4: 1300 B4UDIG QTIS 3YO H’Cap – 900m
1st – Dr Barnard 2nd – Wedding Lily 3rd – Tonkatsu 4th – Snippet Street
NONETHEWISER ((App K. Gates) and DR BARNARD (N. Seymour) were slow to begin.
TONKATSU (D. Griffin) was inclined to lay in in the early stages of the event.
Race 5: Lambert Locations Pty Ltd Class 1 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Brilliant Con 2nd – Violet’s Wish 3rd – Agent White 4th – San Isidro
SAN ISIDRO (D. Griffin), AGENT WHITE (K. Forrester) and IRISH PUB (D. Barron) were all slow to begin.
BRILLIANT CON (App K. Gates) began awkwardly.
Leaving the 200m IRISH PUB had to be steadied off the heels of BENTLEY BLUE (App M. Hellyer), which was inclined to shift out under pressure. App M. Hellyer was advised to exercise more care.
Approaching the finish of the event INCH AHEAD (App J. Jones), SAN ISIDRO and AGENT WHITE were all tightened for room between VIOLET’S WISH (T. Pannell), which shifted in and BRILLIANT CON, which shifted out under pressure. Both T. Pannell (VIOLET’S WISH) and App K. Gates (BRILLIANT CON) were reminded of their obligations to stop riding and straighten their mounts when shifting ground.
Race 6: National Utility Locating Contractors Association Class 1 H’Cap – 1000m
1st – Crackajack Fortune 2nd – Stoner 3rd – Calm Before 4th - Ensconce
CALM BEFORE (App M. Wood), STONER (App M. Hellyer) and SAM’S GIFT (C. Franklin) were all slow to begin.
Shortly after the start STONER shifted out making contact with SAM’S GIFT.
Race 7: Lambert Locating Specialist Class 4 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Rothera 2nd – Reef Court 3rd – Ustino A Girl 4th - Newsnight
IRON FIST (K. Forrester) was slow to begin.
Race 8: Lambert Vacuum Excavation Specialist Class 2 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Swiss Alps 2nd – The Sixties 3rd – Chabeli 4th – Crazy On Cougar
MY RENDITION (N. Seymour) blundered on jumping away.
CHABELI (App J. Jones) was slow to begin.
Approaching the finish of the event THE SIXTIES (A. Merritt) was crowded for room by SWISS ALPS (App M. Hellyer), which shifted in under pressure.
D. Griffin the rider of MELD reported his horse failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
