Trainer H. Wilson was fined the sum of $100.00 for presenting CHOPPARD to the enclosure with the incorrect gear.
Race 1: Southport Radiators & Air Conditioning 50th Anniversary Maiden Plate – 1800m.
1st – Go Gerry 2nd – Salcanro 3rd – Foxysal 4th – Lunar Belle
DELLBLU (R. Goltz) was tightened on jumping away between BUCKLES AND BOWS (K. Forrester) and KALINGA ECHO (T. Treichel), which shifted in after beginning awkwardly.
CIRCUIT CITY (M. Traecey) and YOURSNMINE (App E. Kehoe) made contact on jumping away.
PURE ACT (G. Auckram) raced ungenerously in the early stages and near the 1000m hung in and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of THATCH (G. Baker).
KALINGA ECHO was caught wide in the early and middle stages.
Approaching the 900m PURE ACT was obliged to alter course and shift wider on the track to avoid the heels of STALWART GARZA (B. Payne), which shifted out.
Leaving the 600m YOURSNMINE had to be steadied off the heels of STALWART GARZA, which shifted in.
Leaving the 400m DELLBLU was momentarily crowded for room by BUCKLES AND BOWS, which shifted in.
Race 2: NATRAD KEEPING YOU COOL QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 900m.
1st – Eyelady 2nd – Lifebelt 3rd – Gooniwiggal 4th – Lissoy’s Lass
SLIDE BY SLIDE (App J. Woods) was fractious in the barriers.
BLUE WHITE (D. Tanti) and LINGIELD ROAD (B. Hull) were tightened on jumping away between GOONIWIGGAL (T. Pannell) and SURETOSCORE (App C. McIver), which shifted out.
KASAFUEGO (App M. Woods) was slow to begin.
Near the 400m SURETOSCORE was tightened for room when racing to the inside of BLUE WHITE and SISTAGIRL (C. Eaton) and to the outside of BELLA SIERRA (D. Craven), which shifted out. After considering the evidence presented D. Craven was reprimanded for the manner in which he shifted ground at that point.
Leaving the 200m LIFEBELT (D. Peisley) shifted out to improve and in doing so bumped LISSOY’S LASS (App J. Brown).
BELLA SIERRA had a tendency to hang in for the majority of the event.
C. Eaton the rider of SISTAGIRL reported her horse was inclined to hang in for the majority of the event.
Race 3: Roman Hanson Maiden H’Cap – 1200m.
1st – Radetsky 2nd – Palladium 3rd – Shadows ‘N’ Stars 4th – Check The Chips
The start of this race was delayed when AKACHEETA became fractious in the barriers. After undergoing a veterinary examination AKACHEETA was declared a late scratching at 1.43 p.m. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on AKACHEETA were ordered to be refunded. All winning bets were ordered to be paid less 2 cents in the dollar for a win and less 2 cents in the dollar for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer A. Willick was advised that she must obtain 2 further barrier certificates before the horse again races.
SARLAT LA CANEDA (D. Tanti) was slow to begin.
Near the 900m SHADOWS ‘N’ STARS (App E. Kehoe) was tightened for room when racing between RADETSKY (App J. Wood), which shifted in and MY SECRET ACT (T. Treichel), which was taken out by SEQRETARY (D. Griffin).
Near the 600m DELEZIO (T. Pannell) raced in restricted for room when racing to the inside of ANCIENT DREAM (K. Forrester), RADIO (D. Peisley) and AEQUITAS (G. Baker)
SEQRETARY was inclined to shift out under pressure over the final 200m and near the 50m shifted out making contact with PRINCESS KIMONO (R. Goltz).
SHADOWS ‘N’ STARS and AEQUITAS raced wide for the majority.
Both jockey D. Tanti and trainer’s representative B. Guy were unable to offer any tangible explanation for the poor performance of SARLAT LA CANEDA, which tired badly over the final 300m. The horse’s post race recovery will be monitored by the stable and any abnormalities advised to stewards.
Race 4: Adair Auto Air Products Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m.
1st – Monching 2nd – Catcher Man 3rd – South Grafton 4th - Geeraba
BINDAT (G. Baker) shifted out at the start making contact with MR EVANDER (D. Peisley).
CHEVAUX VAPEUR (L. Cheshire) was crowded for room on jumping away between GEERABA (A. Bannister) and CATCHER MAN (T. Treichel), which shifted in.
SOUTH GRAFTON (D. Griffin) was slow to begin.
MR EVANDER and VIRGIN WHISKEY (App J. Wood) both raced wide for the majority of the event.
BINDAT broke down in the near fore leg near the 300m. It was subsequently ascertained that the horse had fractured the near fore sesamoid and was euthanaised on humane ground. G. Baker the rider of BINDAT was examined by the Club’s doctor and passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.
C. Eaton the rider of fifth placegetter LOVE THAT LION was fined the sum of $250.00 for failing to ride her horse out to the end of the race.
Race 5: Gold Coast City Cup Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m.
1st – Climate Change 2nd – Semisyn 3rd – Need Luv 4th – Gold Gleam
Trainer R. Kirwin was fined the sum of $100.00 for presenting RONSTADT to the enclosure with incorrect gear.
VISTULA BELLE (App M. Wood) began awkwardly.
JUSTLY PROUD (G. Baker) was slow to begin.
MAMBO PRINCESS (T. Treichel) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Near the 150m SEMISYN (D. Tanti) shifted in and brushed CLIMATE CHANGE (B. Hull).
TRICTAAT (D. Griffin) was held up for clear running from leaving the 250m until near the 100m.
SEMISYN was suffering from heat stress upon return to the saddling enclosure after the running of the event.
Race 6: Natrad – Southport Radiators & Air Conditioning Class 3 H’Cap – 1400m.
1st – Just A Classic D/Heat 2nd – Oigles and Divineintervention 4th - Haverford
DIVINEINTERVENTION (C. Eaton) and JUST A CLASSIC (G. Baker) were tightened on jumping away between MR OFFICER (D. Peisley) and OIGLES (App M. Wood), which shifted out .
HAVERFORD (App B. Looker) was slow to begin.
ISLA XAAR (App E. Kehoe) was slow into stride.
Near the 300m JUST A CLASSIC was disappointed for a run between MR OFFICER and LET THERE BE ROCK (K. Forrester).
HAVERFORD was held up for clear running on entering the straight and until near the 200m.
Race 7: Nip Into Natrad Class 4 H’Cap – 900m.
1st – Meet George 2nd – Haylergal 3rd – Crazy Woman 4th – Another Takeover
POWER OF GEORGE (D. Griffin) was slow to begin.
ANOTHER TAKEOVER (T. Treichel) began awkwardly.
Shortly after the start OUR HAWK (D. Tanti) was crowded for room when racing between NEW JOURNEY (L. Cheshire) and CRAZY WOMAN (C. Eaton), which shifted in.
ANOTHER TAKEOVER and LETHAL INTENT (App E. Kehoe) both raced wide for the majority of the event.
NATTSUKEE (D. Peisley) was held up for clear running over the final 150m.
INNOCENZIO (K. Forrester) had to be steadied when improving up onto the heels of ANOTHER TAKEOVER at the finish.
L. Cheshire the rider of NEW JOURNEY was reprimanded regarding her whip use on the horse over the final 200m.
A post race veterinary examination of POWER OF GEORGE found the horse to have a poor recovery rate.
Race 8: Gift Of Life Class 2 H’Cap – 1800m.
1st – Siong Tee 2nd – Attallus 3rd – Mackunda 4th – Innovator
ATTALLUS (D. Craven) began awkwardly.
TORA SAN (T. Pannell) shifted in at the start making contact with HOORAY TOBEY (G. Auckram).
VINTAGE MO (App M. Wood) and SIGURD (K. Forrester) were caught wide in the early stages.
BLUE EGO (T. Treichel) raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
Near the 1400m OUR OJAY (D. Griffin) improved up onto the heels of MACKUNDA (G. Baker) and as a consequence shifted out forcing BLUE EGO wider on the track. OUR OJAY was then obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event.
Near the 1000m BLUE EGO shifted in and bumped VINTAGE MO (App M. Wood).
HOORAY TOBEY (G. Auckram) raced wide over the final 800m of the event.
ATTALLUS was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 200m and near the 150m shifted in bumping SIONG TEE (D. Tanti).
STEADY POPLAR (App J. Wood) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
INNOVATOR (D. Peisley) was held up for clear running from leaving the 400m until near the 200m.
