SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
From GCTC 19 September 2009 - Stewards concluded an inquiry opened on 19 September 2009 into the reasons for the scratching of AKACHEETA and CADOGAN SQUARE from Race 2 at the GCTC. After considering the written statements produced by the trainer of both horses, Ms A Willick and veterinary reports received indicating that each horse was unfit to race on the day, Stewards took no further action in the matter other than to remind Ms Willick of the provisions of AR68A(2) relating to the acceptance of horses for races with the primary purpose of boosting the total number of acceptors for a race thus allowing such race to proceed.
From Sunshine Coast 9 October 2009 – Race 5 – Stewards today questioned Jockey B El-Issa regarding the riding tactics he adopted on PRESSED ON, in particular over the final 600m. Jockey El-Issa explained that after being tightened for room at the 600m PRESSED ON was unable to sprint when the pace quickened approaching and rounding the home turn and rather than ride the horse aggressively at that stage he elected to keep PRESSED ON balanced until shortly after entering the home straight. Jockey El-Issa added that PRESSED ON was not travelling well at that stage, was on a loose rein and worked to the line only fairly. Trainer B Gentle confirmed that PRESSED ON is very one-paced and was satisfied with B El-Issa’s riding of the horse after receiving interference at the 600m. Stewards noted the explanations of both parties.
From GCTC 3 October 2009 - Race 6 – App. J Wood was issued with a reprimand for using the whip on BENNIKE in a forehand manner 6 times prior to the 100m.

A short distance later TYCOON TATTOO shifted in and away from LISSOY’S LASS resulting in SWIFT SANDS having to be checked.
Rider G Baker advised Stewards that ALESPRIT put in a number of awkward strides shortly after the start and in his opinion this was due to the filly racing in an all elastic girth.
