SUPPLEMENTARY:
As App T. Huxham was indisposed due to illness stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Stewards also permitted senior riders to replace App Huxham in races where no suitable apprentice was available.
Race 1: H. Harvey Prestige Maiden H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Peppseelon 2nd – Oceltip 3rd – Epic Faith 4th – Beauty Strike
BAGGS IT was withdrawn by stewards acting on veterinary advice at 12.40 p.m. after the horse was found to be lame in the off fore leg. All monies invested on BAGGS IT were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 12.40 p.m.:-
0 cents in the dollar for the winner - #4 (PEPPSEELON)
5 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #4 (PEPPSEELON)
5 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place - #2 (OCELTIP)
No 3rd dividend
Trainer D. Scanes was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced before BAGGS IT again races.
PEPPSEELON (App T. Harrison) was slow to begin.
Rounding the home turn PEPPSEELON shifted out to improve and in doing so bumped EPIC FAITH (D. Missen) on 2 occasions.
Race 2: Attwood Marshall Lawyers Class 3 H’Cap – 1300m
1st – Shutupanshuffle 2nd – Cousine Island 3rd – Royal Charger 4th – Trickin
Leaving the 1000m when the pace steadied ROYAL CHARGER (D. Missen) overraced at the heels of SHUTUPANSHUFFLE (App P. Schmidt) and shifted out abruptly causing ROYAL TALENT (D. Griffin) to clip the heels of ROYAL CHARGER and blunder. Whilst stewards took into account the racing characteristics of ROYAL CHARGER nonetheless App P. Schmidt the rider of SHUTUPANSHUFFLE was reminded of her obligations under the Rules to ensure that she does not abruptly reduce the pace of the race that could result in interference to other runners.
Approaching the 900m COUSINE ISLAND (App T. Harrison) overraced at the heels of ROYAL CHARGER and shifted in crowding TRICKIN (A. Pattillo).
D. Griffin the rider of ROYAL TALENT reported that he was of the opinion the gelding was lame upon completion of the race. A post race veterinary examination of ROYAL TALENT confirmed the horse to be lame in the near fore leg. A veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to ROYAL TALENT again racing.
Race 3: Penang Turf Club Class 1 H’Cap – 900m
1st – Sir Qualified 2nd – Stabilizer 3rd – Silverberg D/Heat 4th – Latin American/Rare Find
SILVERBERG (D. Griffin) was inspected by the veterinary surgeon prior to the race after the horse had sustained a laceration to the near hind leg en route to the track. After examination the horse was passed fit to start.
LATIN AMERICAN (A. Pattillo) knuckled over on jumping away.
A short distance after the start LATIN AMERICAN and MONASHEE SUCCESS (E. Kehoe) were both tightened for room and had to be checked when racing between SILVERBERG, which shifted out and STABILIZER (App T. Harrison), which shifted in and away from SIR QUALIFIED (D. Tanti).
SIR QUALIFIED was held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn.
INTER CASH (App P. Schmidt) lost its near hind plate in running.
Race 4: Selangor Turf Club Goodwill Maiden SW Plate – 1100m
1st – Pensive Dream 2nd – Bilt Leica 3rd – Matty’s Sequel 4th – Miss Warrego
Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer D. Hansen regarding the reason for the late rider notification of COPPIN.
The start of the race was delayed as a result of COPPIN (L. Cheshire) proving difficult to load.
SILVER FLAIR (App P. Schmidt) and ALL IN THE HIPS (D. Greville) were both slow to begin.
PENSIVE DREAM (D. Griffin) shifted in at the start and bumped MISS WARREGO (D. Tanti).
Leaving the 800m COPPIN was tightened for room and had to be steadied when racing to the inside of ALL IN THE HIPS, which shifted in.
Near the 300m MATTY’S SEQUEL (C. Whiteley) was crowded for room when racing between PENSIVE DREAM and BILT LEICA (D. Missen), which shifted in.
ALL IN THE HIPS and COPPIN both raced wide for the majority of the event.
D. Greville the rider of ALL IN THE HIPS reported that his saddle shifted to the off side at the start placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event and as a result he was obliged to ease the horse down over the final 400m.
Race 5: Korea Racing Authority Class 3 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Divergent 2nd – Flybefree 3rd – Shockwaves 4th – Eureka Jack
Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer B. Smith regarding the reason for the late rider notification of ZENTON.
EUREKA JACK (D. Missen) and ENTERPRISE STAR (A. Pattillo) were both fractious in the barriers.
FLYBEFREE (D. Griffin) began awkwardly.
ZENTON (L. Cheshire) raced wide in the early stages of the event.
EUREKA JACK had difficulty obtaining clear running from a point rounding the home turn and until near the 200m.
DIVINE CASH was checked when tightened for room approaching the finish of the event when racing between SHOCKWAVES (K. Pope) and FLYBEFREE (D. Griffin). At a subsequent inquiry D. Griffin was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) and his licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) meetings to commence at midnight Saturday 5 November 2011 and will expire after the Ipswich race meeting on Friday 17 November 2011.
D. Tanti the rider of DIVINE CASH reported that the gelding wanted to lay in when placed under pressure in the straight.
Race 6: Sroa Cup Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – God’s Cobba 2nd – Summer Good 3rd – Russian Royalty 4th – Puerto Vallarta
Connections advised that from the inside barrier it is the intention to have GENEVA GOLD racing in a more handier position today. The horse was ridden accordingly.
The start of this race was delayed after ALL COIN (D. Tanti) reared up in the barriers. After examination the horse was fit to start.
ALL COIN was crowded for room at the start between GENEVA GOLD (App T. Harrison) and GOD’S COBBA (D. Missen), both of which shifted ground.
RUSSIAN ROYALTY (E. Kehoe) shifted out at the start and bumped SNIPOFFTHEOLDBLOCK (App P. Schmidt), which in turn shifted out onto RED LEMONADE (L. Cheshire) and PUERTO VALLARTA (D. Griffin).
GENEVA GOLD (App T. Harrison) overraced at the heels of SUMMER GOOD (A. Pattillo) for a short distance near the 1000m.
GENEVA GOLD was held up for clear running for the majority of the straight.
SNIPOFFTHEOLDBLOCK had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 200m.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of OLDWALLY jockey C. Whiteley stated that the horse had to work in the early stages of the event to cross SUMMER GOOD however, the horse was under pressure from the home turn. C. Whiteley confirm his disappointment with the horse’s performance. He added that OLDWALLY was having its first start for approximately 5 weeks which he felt was a contributing factor. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding found no abnormalities at the time of inspection. Trainer Mrs H. Page agreed with the comments of jockey C. Whiteley that the horse’s performance was affected by the fact it had to work hard in the early stages of the event and the lack of race fitness, which Mrs Page advised was due to the interrupted preparation of the horse due to wet weather. Stewards noted the comments.
Race 7: Coastal Tipper Hire Class 2 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Mist In The Morn 2nd – Choisi L’Un 3rd – Go Amigo 4th – Little White Horse
Subject to any further submission from the trainer a fine of $100.00 will be imposed on trainer K. Lantry for the late rider notification of App A. Allen on LIFEBELT.
The start of this race was delayed due to a clash with an interstate event.
CURRENCY BOY (App K. Matheson) and LIFEBELT (App A. Allen) were both slow to begin.
STIGORI (A. Pattillo) was tightened for room shortly after the start when racing between BENNIKE (App T. Harrison) and CHARLIE’S BOY (D. Tanti), which was taken out by CHOISI L’UN (K. Pope).
App P. Schmidt the rider of SEDUCTIVE GREY pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that at a point near the 300m she allowed her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of UNIVERSAL HAT (L. Cheshire), resulting in UNIVERSAL HAT being tightened for racing room between SEDUCTIVE GREY and CHARLIE’S BOY. App P. Schmidt’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) meetings to commence midnight 5 November 2011 and expire midnight 13 November 2011.
STIGORI, LIFEBELT and UNIVERSAL HAT (L. Cheshire) all raced wide for the majority of the event.
MIST IN THE MORN (C. Whiteley) suffered a bleeding attack during the event. The mare will incur a mandatory 3 month ban from racing under the provisions of AR53A.
