SUPPLEMENTARY:
As App T. Huxham was indisposed due to illness stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 1: Rotary Club Of Broadwater Southport C, G & E Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Dragon Size 2nd – Delmonico 3rd – Oldwally 4th – Platinum Touch
Trainer L. Wheeler was fined the sum of $100.00 for the late rider notification for CANADIAN COUNTER.
DELMONICO (K. Forrester) stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground. After hearing submissions from jockey K. Forrester and trainer P. Campbell and also the fact that the horse was wearing blinkers for the first time today Ms Campbell was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
Shortly after the start TOYHERO (E. Kehoe) was tightened for room between OLDWALLY (App T. Harrison) and PLATINUM TOUCH (L. Cheshire), which shifted in and lost ground as a result.
DRAGON SIZE (App B. Wallace) was inclined to overrace in the early stages and as a result had a tendency to hang in.
Approaching the 200m DRAGON SIZE commenced to hang in under pressure.
OLDWALLY lost an off hind plate in running.
Race 2: Arundel Park Riding For Disabled Inc Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Miss Orielle 2nd – Lady Who 3rd – Bella Heritage 4th – I Excel
Trainer L. Manzelmann was fined the sum of $50.00 under the provisions of AR140A for negligence in the in the saddling of RUSSIAN ROYALTY.
Approaching the 1000m LADY WHO (App T. Harrison) after improving onto the heels of SAMANTHA’S OPINION (App B. Wallace) had to be steadied.
A post race veterinary examination of SAMANTHA’S OPINION, which compounded in the home straight, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
SNIPOFFTHEOLDBLOCK (D. Tanti) lost an off hind plate in running.
Race 3: Small Myers Hughes Class 2 WR 0.5kg H’Cap – 900m
1st – Leealan 2nd – Sir Qualified 3rd – Rev The Chev 4th – Latin American
As no other suitable apprentice was available stewards permitted K. Forrester to replace App T. Huxham as the rider of MONSIEUR NOVERRE.
On arrival at the barriers REV THE CHEV, after dislodging a tooth during its preliminary, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
The start was delayed when MONSIEUR NOVERRE became fractious in the barriers. After being examined by the veterinary surgeon the gelding was cleared to start.
The start was further delayed when HIDE ‘N’ SEEK also became fractious in the barriers.
HIDE ‘N’ SEEK (App T. Harrison) began awkwardly.
LEEALAN (D. Griffin) began awkwardly and shifted out inconveniencing SCHERZINGER (T. Treichel).
Shortly after the start RIVIERA MOSS (D. Green) had to be steadied when tightened for room between HIDE ‘N’ SEEK, which shifted out and MONSIEUR NOVERRE (K. Forrester), which shifted in slightly.
Approaching the 600m HIDE ‘N’ SEEK commenced to hang out and at that point shifted out making contact with MONSIEUR NOVERRE. HIDE ‘N’ SEEK then continued to hang out forcing MONSIEUR NOVERRE extremely wide rounding the home turn. Following a veterinary examination of HIDE ‘N’ SEEK, which revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore tendon, stable connection Mr J. Page was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to HIDE ‘N’ SEEK being permitted to race or trial again.
LEEALAN overraced in the middle stages of the event.
A post race veterinary examination MONSIEUR NOVERRE failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 4: Bioscapes QTIS 3YO Maiden H’Cap – 1100m
1st – King’s Realm 2nd – Fascia 3rd – Bridies Boy 4th – Zahmatas Adjourned
The start was delayed when BRIDIES BOY proved difficult to load. Trainer D. Wheeler was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
BLACK MAGIC (D. Tanti) was slow to begin.
BRIDIES BOY (T. Treichel) was held up and unable to improve from a point approaching the 400m until leaving the 300m.
KING’S REALM (App M. Wood) shifted in near the 200m when placed under pressure.
BLACK MAGIC hung out for the majority of the event proving difficult for jockey D. Tanti to ride out. Trainer B. Brown was advised that BLACK MAGIC must trial to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again.
NOT A GREAT LOOK (D. Griffin) raced wide throughout the event.
A post race veterinary examination of BLACK MAGIC, which pulled up quickly after the winning post, revealed no abnormalities.
Race 5: Mike O’Regan & Associates Pty Ltd Maiden 4YO & Up H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Brigadoon Express 2nd – Staked Emotion 3rd – Feelin’ Fiesty 4th – All In The Hips
The start was delayed when CINNA WILD CHILD lunged at the gates and as a result broke its surcingle. After replacing the surcingle and undergoing a veterinary examination CINNA WILD CHILD was cleared to start.
BRIGADOON EXPRESS (App M. Wood) began awkwardly and shifted in making contact with CINNA WILD CHILD (D. Barron) and then shortly after commenced to race ungenerously throwing its head in the air for some distance.
Stable representative Mr Woodhead was advised that DIVINE SCENT (K. Forrester), which was uncompetitive from a point leaving the 900m, would have to trial to the stewards’ satisfaction before being permitted to race again. A post race veterinary examination of DIVINE SCENT revealed no abnormalities.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BOM CHICKA WAH WAH both trainer R. Knill and jockey T. Treichel were at a loss to explain the performance. In view of today’s performance stewards advised Ms Knill that BOM CHICKA WAH WAH must officially trial to the stewards’ satisfaction before being permitted to race again.
A post race veterinary examination of BOM CHICKA WAH WAH revealed no abnormalities.
Race 6: Visa ‘R’US Class 3 SW Plate – 1200m
1st – Tacker 2nd – Falls Creek 3rd – Garland Girl 4th – I’m A Smarty Pants
BLIND JUSTICE (App A. Kitson) began very awkwardly and shifted in making contact with TACKER (A. Pattillo). Shortly after BLIND JUSTICE was tightened for room between TACKER and HASHASAN (M. Palmer), both of which shifted ground.
Near the 900m FALLS CREEK (D. Griffin) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of I’M A SMARTY PANTS (L. Cheshire), which shifted in.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of BLIND JUSTICE App A. Kitson reported that after beginning awkwardly and overracing in the early stages and being forced to race wide throughout felt this was a telling factor on the mare’s performance today. Trainer D. Bell advised stewards in view of today’s performance it is his intention that the mare will be sent for an immediate spell. A post race veterinary examination of BLIND JUSTICE revealed the mare to have sustained lacerations to its near hind leg.
App T. Harrison the rider of GARLAND GIRL, which finished third, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(b) in that she failed to ride her mount right out to the end of the race. Whilst stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that App Harrison’s actions over the final stages had cost the horse second placing she was nonetheless fined the sum of $200.00.
BLIND JUSTICE lost its near hind plate in running.
Race 7: Taylor Byrne Maiden H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Retune D/Heat 2nd – All Misty & Teretoa 4th – Popstar Pete
Due to a misunderstanding App Mitchell Wood was declared as the rider of BELLA WARRIOR and was subsequently replaced by M. Johnston.
POPSTAR PETE (T. Treichel) raced wide in the early stages of the event.
HEAR THE BEAT (M. Palmer) became unbalanced near the 1600m and made the crossing awkwardly.
Near the 1100m TARTURI (D. Tanti) shifted in resulting in TWINKLETON (L. Cheshire) having to take hold and shift outwards to avoid that runner’s heels and raced wide from that point on. D. Tanti the rider of TARTURI was issued with a reprimand and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. In this incident stewards noted at the time when TARTURI shifted in the pace of the race had slackened.
Approaching the 400m ALL MISTY (E. Kehoe) improved onto the heels of MY BOBBY BOY (App B. Wallace) and had to be steadied and shifted wider on the track.
VERY SOVERRE (J.P. Stanley) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 8: Polygenomx Ltd Class 6 SW Plate – 1800m
1st – Haslington 2nd – Falontino 3rd – Toy Ruler 4th – Royal Hope
Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer I. Duke for the late declaration of App A. Kitson as the rider of BRUNCHER.
MATTER OF PRIORITY (App T. Harrison), ARGENTEUM (D. Tanti) and SAINT ROMAIN (M. Palmer) were all slow to begin.
BRUNCHER (App A. Kitson) and FALONTINO (App B. Wallace) both overraced in the early stages.
SATULA (D. Griffin) was held up and unable to improve from leaving the 500m until leaving the 300m.
Near the 300m ROYAL HOPE (A. Pattillo) shifted out in an endeavour to obtain clear running and made contact with SATULA.
FALONTINO hung in under pressure in the home straight.
A post race veterinary examination of MATTER OF PRIORITY revealed the gelding to be lame in both front legs. Trainer W. King was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to MATTER OF PRIORITY being permitted to race or trial again.
