SUPPLEMENTARY:

Gold Coast Turf Club - 9 October 2012

Miss J Black pleaded guilty to a charge under LR 7(e) in that she undertook duties as a stablehand between 20 June 2012 and 19 September 2012 whilst not the holder of a current appropriate license and was fined the sum of $100. Stewards will interview D Pendergrast with regards to employing J. Black during this time whilst unlicensed.

Trainer D Kelly was severely reprimanded for employing J Black whilst not holding a current appropriate license.

Race 1: Old Southportonians’ Association Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden H’cap – 1100m
1st – In Memoriam 2nd – Dr Acula 3rd – Desiderata 4th – Saint Wayne

The start of this race was delayed to avoid a clash with an interstate thoroughbred event.

BEFORE DAWN (D Tanti) which was fractious in the barriers was slow to begin and thereafter BEFORE DAWN was uncompetitive. Ms P Campbell, trainer of BEFORE DAWN, was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards before again racing.

SAINT WAYNE (T Treichel) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1000m IN MEMORIAM (R Hurdle) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DR ACULA (JK Johnson) when that horse shifted in.

DESIDERATA (M Palmer) and SAINT WAYNE raced wide throughout the event.

DR ACULA was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight and approaching the 100m shifted in tightening the running of NEDIYM THUNDER (L Cheshire). App. J Johnson the rider of DR ACULA was advised to stop and straighten her mount when it commences to shift ground. A post race veterinary examination of DR ACULA found the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. After veterinary ex-rays revealed fractured sesamoids, DR ACULA was subsequently euthanised.

Acting under the provisions of AR142, stewards declared correct weight despite App. J Johnson being unable to weigh in due to veterinary attention being provided to DR ACULA whilst on the track.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of OUTBACK PRIDE, Jockey A Pattillo was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance. Trainer K Fleming confirmed his disappointment with the gelding’s performance and further advised that consideration was being given to stepping the horse up to 1400m which he feels may be more suited to OUTBACK PRIDE. Stewards noted his comments.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the riding of CASH FOR MATT (A Spinks) over the final 500m of the event. After taking some evidence from Jockey Spinks, the inquiry was adjourned to 2.00 pm on 15 October 2012 at the offices of Queensland Racing.

Race 2: Smart Print Fleet Management Fillies and Mares Maiden H’cap – 1100m
1st – Showrun 2nd – Infirst 3rd – Warrior Eyes 4th – Falveleste

Stewards acceded to a request for SHOWRUN to wear race plates on both front feet in place of the advertised bar plates after the mare cast a bar plate on the morning of the race meeting.

SHOWRUN (T Treichel) shifted in at the start making contact with STAR OF TESS (D Missen).

PRINCESS CHENKA (C Whiteley) began awkwardly.

WARRIOR EYES (D Tanti) was slow to begin.

WARRIOR EYES and SHOWRUN both over-raced in the middle stages of the event.

STAR OF TESS was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and near the 350m was disappointed for a run between INFIRST (JK Johnson) and SHOWRUN. STAR OF TESS was again disappointed for a run over the final 100m when both FALVELESTE (A Pattillo) and INFIRST shifted ground resulting in Jockey D Missen being unable to fully test the mare.

Race 3: Bendigo Bank 3yo H’cap – 900m
1st – Qfighter 2nd – Captain Spur 3rd – First to Go 4th – Bold Dictator

Trainer R Maund was fined the sum of $200 for presenting IF HE DON’T (G Goold) late to the enclosure.

The start of this race was delayed due to concerns with DAWN MAGIC’s action during the preliminaries. After veterinary examination the horse was passed fit to start.

FIRST TO GO (A Pattillo) shifted in at the start making contact with DAWN MAGIC (S Drake).

IF HE DON’T (G Goold) was slow to begin. App. Goold reported that after IF HE DON’T was slow to begin the horse never travelled well at any stage of the event.

Approaching the 600m QFIGHTER (C Whiteley) was crowded for room when racing between BOLD DICTATOR (A Taylor) and LOVE STORIES (J K Johnson) which shifted in.

Approaching the 400m DAWN MAGIC shifted out in an endeavour to improve and in doing so carried LOVE STORIES wider on the track. QFIGHTER which was trailing was inconvenienced and forced wider on the track also.

It was reported that IF HE DON’T lost its off fore plate in running.

Race 4: Midway Metals H’cap – 1100m
1st – Far Dooley 2nd – Lucky Songs 3rd – Doyadeal 4th – So So Sure

SYMBIOTIC (D Tanti) was slow to begin.

KALKIE KANE (R Hurdle) shifted in at the start making contact with IDOCRASE (M Palmer) which in turn shifted in and brushed DOYADEAL (A Spinks).

MONASHEE WARRIOR (A Holt) raced wide for the majority of the event and approaching the 600m shifted in crowding the running of SO SO SURE (C Whiteley).

SO SO SURE was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

Near the 150m KALKIE KANE was tightened for room and had to be steadied when racing between MONASHEE WARRIOR which shifted in and SO SO SURE and SYMBIOTIC which were taken out by FAR DOOLEY (A Pattillo).

Jockey A Spinks reported that DOYADEAL had a tendency to lay in when placed under pressure in the straight.

Race 5: Smart Print Fleet Management Class 2 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Kiev 2nd – Ellythea 3rd – Class of Gold 4th – Havasnip

App. A Holt (THE MAN SAID) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in leaving the 1200m when insufficiently clear of LITTLE BOUTIQUE (D Tanti) which was tightened for room and checked. App. Holt was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings to commence midnight 21/10/2012 and to expire midnight 30/10/2012.

Approaching the 1100m LITTLE BOUTIQUE was again checked when tightened for room by THE MAN SAID which, when attempting to relieve the pressure, was forced back in by KIEV (D Missen) which hung in at that point despite the efforts of its rider.

ELLYTHEA (T Treichel) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and approaching the 300m was disappointed for a run to the inside of HAVASNIP (C Whiteley) and as a result had to be eased and moved wider on the track.

A veterinary examination of LITTLE BOUTIQUE which yielded ground over the final 300m failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.

Race 6: Surfers Rowers Cup Classic Class 3 Plate – 1800m
1st – Dane Princess 2nd – Putyourfaithinme 3rd – Wisp O’Will 4th – Witches Lips

CROWN THE WARRIOR (D Missen) which was kicked by another runner behind the barriers was subsequently withdrawn by order of stewards at 4.04 pm acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on CROWN THE WARRIOR were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 4.04 pm:

1st – Presentation 2nd – Torero 3rd – Popstar Pete 4th – Aspy Bay

AKBAR MAHAL (L Appo) began awkwardly.
